Happenings and opinions from March 3rd Raw--It’s “Triple threat take over night” tonight and Cena is taking over for the night. Then next week it will be either HHH or Orton in charge and then the week after that the final person will be in charge.
So lets begin shall we??
What was that with the Big Show and some jabrony named Brandon Hill? Who the heck is Brandon Hill? Not that it matters anyway. Show squashed this Brandon Hill who boasted he was an MMA fighter, at 5’7” tall and 140 pounds it was a joke match. Then on the Titantron there was an exchange between Show and Mayweather which was pathetic. You couldn’t understand what one was saying cause they kept talking over one another and Show was just rambling on as well as Mayweather. Who really cares about this match anyways? As I have stated before, the unfortunate thing about this match is the boxer will win at WM 24.
Next up is Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair in a tag match, imagine that. They went against the former tag champs Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch. It was a throw away match to say the least with Flair using the figure four and Michaels using the sharp shooter. Then Shawn saying he doesn’t want the match at WM 24 and he talks about love, respect, blah, blah, he’s the show-stopper and then telling Flair that his show will be stopped if they wrestle one another. Oh my what will Flair decide to do? While we are talking about tag matches, where are the tag champs anyways? Does it matter? Apparently Vince could careless about them and the titles, course with losers like Rhodes and Holly as champs, who would care what happens with the straps. That’s a shame…
Cena of course makes a match with of all people, Orton and HHH, didn’t see that coming..ha. He then wants to go against Kennedy, where did that one come from aside from his mind check from last week? Will we care about that one?
Up next is Umaga…We then discover it’s Umaga versus Batista at WM 24…Umaga versus the poor schmuck known as Super Crazy in a squash match….Crazy lost of course to the Samoan Spike. No real competitors for Umaga up through WM 24, ya gotta know that will happen, then a week before the big event I am sure Batista will show up. Why do we care about Umanga?(just repeating how Regal says it)
Jericho and the highlight reel is back!!! Has he really saved us?? Like every over hyped return I can say no. But anyways, he interviews Jeff Hardy and in my opinion one of the most talented wrestlers going right now. Sure he’s the Intercontinental Champion, but will McMahon give him a decent run for the world title?? The crowd was hot for Hardy. They talk about Jericho going to the ladder match after seeing the match from last week. After a short talk about Hardy being the target and anything goes, the twist of fate is given to Jericho. Hardy walks off to some boos and some cheers from the crowd. Not much else to talk about. Man there sure is a lot of short segments tonight.
Next up is Kennedy versus Cena…the crowd is 50/50, some love the guy and some hate him. The jury is still out how I feel about the guy. I know this though, he won’t be winning the belt at mania cause he has had his time in the sun and he is also filming his next movie called, “12 Rounds” until about May in Louisiana. Back to the match, some of the crowd is yelling Cena, Cena!! Course the other half is booing the guy. To each their own I guess….back and forth match. Kinda slow paced if ya ask me. STFU and Cena wins with the crowd behind him again, at least for now.
Maria and her unveiling of the Playboy cover, whoopee…she’s hot, but I don’t care about this one bit when it pertains to wrestling, sorry. At least Santino put his face onto the picture when it was revealed, I think he saved this segment..that was a good one. Course we have to see the cover so from above they blow up some fireworks and a huge rolled down picture of Maria unfurls. Also Snoop Doggy Dogg will now be the master of ceremonies for the Bunnymania match, can we say whoopee again?
A qualifying match between Cody Rhodes versus Carlito to see who goes on to the Money in the Bank...duh who do you think will win this one… Carlito wins to participate in the Money in the Bank Ladder match come WM24….
We then find out Mae Young will be inducted to the Hall of Fame, I suppose that’s a good idea considering the woman is in her 80’s. Better do it now before she expires as Fabulous Moolah did (may she rest in peace).
JBL in a confrontation with Finlay…McMahon comes out and asks if Finlay is Hornswoggle’s father. Finlay finally says that he is the father. JBL is then shown with Hornswoggle in the hospital. JBL versus Finlay at WM 24 has been made… JBL then slaps Hornswoggle and noises come from a pulled curtain as we fade to commercial…I guess JBL beat the little guy up again. McMahon doesn’t have a bastard child anymore I guess it was a conspiracy between Finlay and his family. But knowing him they might come up with this storyline again sometime down the line to possible make it a good one this time.
HHH versus Orton is next, HHH does his water spit usual with Cena looking on from the announce table. HHH and Orton tie up and have a clean break in the corner, then tie up again and go to the opposite corner and this time HHH hits Orton. The usual wrestling match commences for a bit with ins and outs of the ring, then Orton decides he wants to leave with his title but Cena stands up and says no. HHH then hits Orton from behind while Cena was yelling at Orton, they fall to the floor. Then they all get back into the ring with Cena doing the FU to HHH and then Orton RKO’s Cena, so no winner in the match, seems like a classic WCW moment to me, imagine that.
On a scale of 1-10 for this show I would have to give it a 3 at best. No real high spots in any of the matches. It looked as if they were all just going through the motions and not really putting much effort into them. Some of the segments moved the storylines forward in order to progress them to get to WM 24 but nothing big happened this night. Glad I didn’t pay for this, cause I would have wanted my money back.
3 hours of Raw next Monday, joy...but Big Show is here so that will make it that much better...Vince wishes that were true.
