Upon further evaluation and without a bit of hesitation, it has become apparent that the WWE is sinking fast as a powerhouse wrestling federation. I say this only because it’s not a wise choice to fade to black during a show that is tanking in the ratings. They probably got the idea from the series finale of the Sopranos. It just seems idiotic to do that to the fans that wanted to see the outcome of the match between HHH and Orton. I would imagine they did this angle so Regal can get more heel heat out of his gimmick as the General Manager of Raw and as the King of the Ring. I won’t be surprised if they make Kennedy a “baby face” and have him in a program against Regal. I didn’t think having Kennedy as a heel was such a bad thing.
I am still trying to figure out what they are doing with Murdoch and Cade. To me it would be a better decision to keep these two guys together as a tag team cause neither one will really make it as a singles wrestler, they just don’t have the “it” factor. Besides that, the tag teams in the WWE are getting quite rare and the numbers are not looking good going into the summer months. Speaking of the tag team division, do you realize that Rhodes and Holly haven’t defended their belts since I believe about January of 2008? (I know how I am with some facts, that’s why I am saying I believe it has been that long.) What ever happened to the 30 day rule of defending the belt, oh yes that’s right, that rule has gone the way of the Dodo as many other things in the federation.
It’s looking like the WWE might be doing an “anything goes” type storyline for all three brands. The blackout on Raw, the Adamle/Tazz walk out on ECW, and the title being stripped from the waist of the Undertaker because of his new choke submission move. It has to go without saying that they need to do something here and it better work for the better cause as things stand, their ratings for all three shows are in the crapper and not getting any better. Maybe just maybe this “anything goes” stance will help to bring up the ratings and bring in some much needed viewership. The federation needs something of importance because as spring changes to summer and warmer weather approaches, not many people want to waste their time on something that has been done dozens of times before. I know it’s difficult to get viewership and fans to go along with new things, but WWE needs to take a chance on anything right now. What have they got to lose? Oh wait, they came up with the Gobbledy-Gooker storyline in a down year didn’t they? We can only hope they won’t do that anytime soon.
