Judgment Day, Done Right? You Decide.

I’m usually pumped every time a PPV is announced to broadcast live from Chicago. WWE always seems to schedule these at times when my pockets have about three dimes, a stick of gum and some lint, but no big deal. I’ve been to enough wrestling shows to let these big ones pass. I’ve had the honor of seeing Owen Hart’s last match. I saw Shane make one of the most ridiculous jumps in the history of pro wrestling. I witnessed Cactus Jack return, which I thought I would never see in general, let alone at a Smackdown I was attending. Kane’s first words without his voice-box (Suck It), of course, were in Chicago. One last one I’ll rub in everyone’s face, is the debut of Chris Jericho, with his epic mic skills interrupting the Rock...damn it, I did it again...Dwayne!

With that said, has anyone seen the card for the upcoming Judgment Day PPV? Seems a little weak for a Chicago PPV, doesn’t it? With the four confirmed matches so far, I have to say this is one I’m glad I backed out on waiting over ten hours in line for. This show is next Sunday. What could they possibly do to make it another memorable night for Chicago wrestling fans?
Here we go again. Strap into your imagination chairs, and buckle up big time, because you’re in for a ride. Kind of a predictable ride after what happened on Smackdown, but who knows these days.

Before I get into the big finish, I’m going to alter the World Title match a little. Edge and Jeff Hardy have been involved in some of the most memorable ladder matches in WWE history. The last ladder match for the World Heavyweight Championship was Jericho/Michaels from No Mercy 2008, and frankly wasn’t too impressive. The bar has been raised so high on ladder matches over the years; neither of them belonged in that match. But with these two going into Judgment Day without a stipulation, it seems like a waste to me.

So we’re at Judgment Day, and Edge is destroying Jeff Hardy in one of the most memorable ladder matches we’ve ever seen! Both are giving all they have and can barely even climb the ladder. In the end Edge proves he is the better wrestler, and comes out on top. Personally, I’d be satisfied with this win, but the WWE fans in Chicago boo in disappointment.

Killswitch Engage’s “This Fire Burns” hits the speakers, and Chicago’s own CM Punk makes his way down the ramp.

"Wait a minute, King! What’s this? I'll be the first to tell ya, business is about to pick up!"

With CM Punk’s failed attempt to pin Edge for the title on Smackdown, it’s obvious that that’s the belt he’s got his mind set on. So here he is again, and with the backing of being on home turf, he nails the victory. The crowd roars, and WWE successfully gives the crowd a show worth their money.

It makes me sad, because I know it’ll never happen.

For the Chicago readers, have fun at Judgment Day folks. Underneath it all, I wish I could be there. I can’t even remember the last time I gave Cena the finger, but I do know that its been too long.

Cheers.
