Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages, I encourage you to catch the Fever!! Let the Fever sweep through you and ultimately throughout our great nation! I am you host of the Squared Circle, Mr. Saturday Night Johnny Fever! Welcome to the very first installment, and what a show we have for you! I encourage you to check back frequently, for you never know what day the Fever may strike! Before I begin this column, I would like to assure all of my soon to be loyal readers that I am a life long wrestling fan. I've been there since Wrestlemania I throughout the Doink years, into the Attitude Era and present day WWE era. I also followed the NWA soon to become WCW product throughout all that time as well up to the final episode of Nitro in which McMahon showed up announcing he now owned the show! And I now keep up with TNA. I love wrestling folks! I want to start with a kinda nostalgia feel folks! I've been sitting here the last couple days watching a 3 disc set released by WWE The Rock The Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment! I know it has been out for a while, but I just got around to watching it, and it is a must see for any wrestling fan! It takes you back in time and guides you through a great journey where the matches tell the story! It is not one of those boring documentary type sets normally produced by WWE, there is someone telling the back story setting up the match, and then the match. It starts with his days as Rocky Maivia, featuring his I.C Championship win over then pompous Greenwich snub Hunter Hearst Helmsley, and may I say OMG HHH was a small little man compared to what he has become today! It takes you throughout his entire career featuring all his epic battles with Kurt Angle, Triple H, Mankind, Hulk Hogan, features his stint with the Nation, and is just a great way to take a stroll down memory lane! The Rock is perhaps one of the greatest of all time! If you have not seen it, go out and get it from your local library or find it cheap on ebay! I started with that as my lead in for a reason. There is a lot of complaints, especially on this column page of TWNP, about the current product. The problem is not with the WWE, it is a lack of stars. Looking back at what Vince had to work with then, compared to what he has to work with now is not a fair comparison. There is a great lack of character depth currently. We are back in the metaphoric Doink the Clown, Duke the Dumpster Drosey, MVP, Hakushi, Nailz, and Sparky Plugg days! There's light at the end of the tunnel, however! Jack Swagger: This man does not get mention in the light that he should, and I want to go on a limb and change that! Jack Swagger is going to be the break out star. He is going to challenge Stone Cold Steve Austin someday to the drawing sales record! Jack Swagger is the perfect wrestler. He gushes charisma, he is great on the mic, a magnificent technician and tells a great story! I feel it was a horrible move taking the strap off of him and putting it on Christian, but that's neither here nor there, I just hope they don't squash what they have here and start jobbing him out. They need to move him to Raw and let him shine. Legacy: Like them or hate them, these 3 men are compelling television. Randy Orton has been consistently great since his days in Evolution and now has given the "rub" to Cody Rhodes and Ted Dibiase Jr. Dibiase is going to be the break out star of this group(Orton is already a star) and Rhodes, although he has greatly improved, will end up getting lost in the shuffle and used as a squash guy again. John Morrison: This man is a gem! He is a ring general and I have not seen him fail at anything. Along with the Miz, he was part of the "greatest tag team of the 21st Century." Before that he had a great run as ECW champion, and now he is getting his face run that will put him over the top! He can already do it all, and now he's winning the fans approval, look out John Cena, with all these stars finally on the verge, Vince may be able to dispose of you to jobber status where you belong! The above are the young stars that I think are right on the brink of something big, and the ones that are going to be responsible for taking us into our next chapters of wrestling. I did not go on of all of them. I did not forget the Shelton Benjamins, MVPs, Colon's, Miz, and Christians, but if I went on forever I'd have nothing to write about in the future, and I don't want to steal all the spot light here at TWNP, at least not yet ;) Fellow fans, just stomach the current product, and believe that Vince realizes these fine young athletes, with a core group of others are about to take us into an interesting twists and away from the Big Show Vs John Cena matches and the Orton Vs HHH battles and into some matches we can actually sink our hearts into! It is coming folks, don't let these negative reporters steer your love of wrestling away, there is always a dry spell when talent is low and new characters are in development, you just have to wait for the finished product, and it is always worth the wait! I do this article for the wrestling fans. I am not catering to anyone or anything. I believe I speak from a fans point of view and we can relate on a one on one level. I would like to make this column as interactive as I possibly can. I want to know what you like about my style, what you hate about it. What you agree with what you disagree with. What you would like to see my opinion on in the future, etc. Anything and everything!! Please use the contact info below to send me your thoughts and opinions on the first edition of the Squared Circle! This is your host, Johnny Fever signing off for now, but once again I ask you to Spread the Fever worldwide and come back and spend every Saturday with Mr Saturday Night!! *Editors Note* The Fever may feel the urge to strike on any day of the week so please check back with TWNP news frequently as I will be scanning other sites constantly to bring as much to TWNP Reader's as I can and save you the time!
