A few notes on the ECW show last Tuesday Mark Henry vs Evan Bourne was a short match that was set up to give Bourne two wins against Henry. One last week by countout and one this week by DQ when Tony Atlas was busted by the ref interfering. Henry screamed at Atlas and they played it like pros with Henry all up in Tony's face. So this gives Bourne two wins against a supposed unbeatable opponent but does nothing to help build the role of mega star they are trying to put him in. Sure the kid can wrestle but the way the announcers talk him up you would think he was the next Sean Michaels or something...Well he aint nearly as good as all that and if you want to build a stars credibility you put him in a series of interesting matches with a credible opponent, not DQ matches with someone who could obviously kill the kid. I'm just sayin... Another new star is this Zack Ryder and he works the prettyboy gimmick very well. Most any real man watching will hate him and the more you hate a guy the more you watch hoping to see him get his butt kicked. He wins another match against some local guy and maybe soon they will put him with an established opponent or somebody like Bourne he can start a decent feud with. If they don't accidentally hurt each other maybe it will work out for the both of them. Tommy Dreamer vs Paul Burchill and his scary looking sister Katie Lea was another good match and both guys are very good in the ring always. Very fast and exciting match with a beautiful DDT by Dreamer to finish off Burchill. As Tommy is making his “this may be the last time you see me on ECW speech” Jack Swagger comes out and cuts Dreamers heartfelt goodbye short with another excellent promo. Jack is definitely a rising star in the business and his lispy way of talking is such a contrast to his big bully persona that its always fun to watch him on the teevee. Great heel work and he and Dreamer cut a great promo. This definitely aint over between these two. Now on to the Hart Dynasty...for the benefit of those who don't know I will run down the connection to the Hart family that all three of these wrestlers have. Natalya is the daughter of legendary wrestler Jim Neidhart who was half of the Hart Foundation tag team. Jim married Brett's sister Ellie and Natalya came from that union. Davy Boy Smith married other Hart sister Diana and they had the kid now known as David Hart Smith the second member of the new Hart Dynasty. Tyson Kidd is a graduate of the Stu Hart dungeon and former Stampede wrestling veteran and friend of the Hart family and has been dating Natalya for many years so there no doubt that these wrestlers have a bright future in the business...how can they not succeed with all these connections? Christian vs Kidd was a fair match but kinda boring most of the way through. Lots of failed submissions and mat work and not enough of the spectacular wrestling I expect from well trained performers like these two. Things pick up at the end when Swagger makes the appearance we all knew he would to interfere and his interference is stopped by Tommy Dreamer. Killswitch by Christian and Kidd is finished. Four matches on ECW was good and the pace of the show has drastically improved and is much better than previous shows. They have good talent on the show and it was way better than the Raw we got served on Monday. Not the ECW most fans are used to but things have been way toned down as to Extreme from the chair and barbed wire theme we were accustomed to in the nineties. Still worth watching though Bye Bye A Fan
