Gentleman’s Choice: The Chris Adams Story by Mickey Grant

I watched this documentary and learned a lot about the man that passed away in 2001. If it wasn’t for Chris, we wouldn’t have had Stone Cold Steve Austin. But that isn’t the story about Stone Cold, it’s about Chris Adams and his rise and fall in the wrestling business. He was one of the most popular wrestlers in the 80’s in WCCW and very charismatic with the fans. He had many demons (partying and girls) and many problems to deal with in life though. This documentary has many of his old friends, acquaintances, and family members commenting about what kind of a man he was. This documentary also has a lot of the old WCCW clips of him feuding with the Von Erichs, how popular they were back then. Unfortunately, some want to bury him deeper in the ground then he is now, others remember him as the title of this movie reads, “Gentleman.” But in the end this movie tells the story of his alcohol problem and GHB addiction, a lot of which not many of the fans of his ever knew. (you will see how Laurie Wright is in the movie as well and your first thought is, “what in the world is this woman on while she is being interviewed”, messy my friends, messy.) This is a very compelling movie about the man fans knew as The Gentleman Chris Adams. If you have a way of seeing this thing, do it, you will have a different view of Adams and how he lived. It’s sad, it’s revealing, it’s powerful….

Now onto TNA Slammiversary

Suicide beat Chris Sabin, Jay Lethal, Consequences Creed, and Alex Shelley. It was hard to keep track of the action, it was a great 23 minute match, I am exhausted-again. You can’t get this in the WWE that’s for sure.

Daniels beat Shane Douglas...I hate to say it but if it wasn’t for Daniels, I fear this match would have stunk up the joint. And guess what, I understand Douglas might have gotten a slight injury as well during the match, a twisted ankle. This guy can’t catch a break and to me I feel he is past his prime, sorry Shane.

Taylor Wilde & Abyss beat Raven & Daffney (with Dr. Stevie Richards) tacks in the match, ouch!!! It was a good 14 minute match. I still don’t understand this tack thing, man oh, man.

TNA Knockouts Champion Angelina Love beat Tara-hmmmm, if I don’t have anything nice to say, I won’t say it…

Sting vs. Matt Morgan
Morgan's Chance to Join the Main Event Mafia
Sting hits the Scorpion Death drop from the second rope and pins Morgan for the win.
Winner – Sting

Samoa Joe calls out Angle, says one-by-one his Mafia members fell. He said tonight this ends where it began - with him. Joe says tonight they will begin the most powerful force in the history of professional wrestling.

Team 3D (c) vs. Beer Money, Inc
TNA World Tag Team Championship Match
This is the pinnacle in tag team excellence. I love this division and always will. Beer Money, hits DWI and Roode is able to pin Devon to win the TNA Tag Team Championship. Winners & new TNA Tag Team Champions - Beer Money, Inc.

Mick Foley (c) vs. Jeff Jarrett vs. AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe vs. Kurt Angle
King of the Mountain Match for the TNA Championship
Hell of a good match and well worth watching this PPV. At the end of the match,
Joe gets in and powerbombs Styles off a ladder. Clothesline from Joe on Styles. Angle climbs up the other side of the ladder with Joe climbing it. Joe hands the belt to Angle. Angle hangs it up and becomes the TNA Champion. Winner & new TNA Champion - Kurt Angle. It also looks as if Joe is a member of MEM. I wasn’t surprised, unfortunately…

WWE and commercial free Raw

With a commercial free Raw, I can say they did a pretty decent job for the night. The matches that took place were above par and the skits were better than average. Miraculously enough HHH and Orton in the Last Man Standing Match put on a hell of a good match, aside from no real winner of the darn thing I was impressed with it. But they will still wrestle at the Bash in a 3 stages of hell match (2 out of 3 falls essentially), lets hope they are just as good as they were on Raw. Now if only they could put on this type of show every Monday night, then that would be saying something.

Donald Trump was in attendance at Green Bay and the back and forth between he and McMahon was spot on, with what little bit there was. But it was all for not because Trump “sold” Raw back to McMahon for twice what he “paid” for it. This probably happened because of all the real flack this whole scenario got from the stock holders and the stock price dropping after the news hit last week. Trump then proceeded to slap Vince in the face as this part of the show came to an end. Can you say it was all for ratings, well of course it was? I would be surprised if the ratings were poor for this show, if they are, I have no clue what the federation can do to get them back up. I still think Ric Flair will still become General Manager of the show.

The one painful match to watch was the 6-woman tag match that took place towards the end. About all these women did was yell and scream and didn’t really do much for me nor the fans in attendance (by the quiet of the crowd while they wrestled that is). We then had to watch John Cena and Big Show to finish the night. I felt like I was watching paint dry again, ugh…

To me the Bash has come up too quickly and even though there are some interesting matches to see for the PPV, I can’t really get into it. I want to, but it’s just too soon. Jericho and Mysterio will be a good one, but I highly doubt Rey will lose his mask and again I doubt Jericho will lose his title as well (near as I know, Jericho can be disqualified in the match, so there ya go). CM Punk will retain against Hardy, Priceless will hopefully beat the Colons, Tommy Dreamer should walk out as ECW Champ if there is any justice, Cena might just lose to the Miz to pass the torch so to speak-but Vince loves Cena so Miz will get the lose, I don’t care about the women’s match, and Orton should retain against HHH-we can only hope. I don’t want to see HHH be champ again until he changes his entrance to the ring. That whole thing with the water and posing is dated and stinky. Lets revamp HHH already!!!

That’s my 3 cents worth, til next time….
