From a Shadow's Perspective - Skandor Akbar, the man we loved to hate

I know it’s been months since I posted. But I got some inspiration tonight. I thought of the one and only Skandor Akbar. Or as some lovingly called him The General. I remember him handling The Missing Link. And there was this aura around him, like he knew more than he should have. Like he knew how to hurt people or get people to hurt other people. I was a kid back then but I was in awe of him even then.

Skandor held the NWA World title for a short time; very few people remember this or realize this. I remember back in the 80s and early 90s he was part of WCCW, I remember him feuding with my Von Erichs on a regular basis.

I remember him vaguely with Gary Young, man what happened to that guy? I must search my foggy databanks. But I recall Kerry Von Erick with Mr. T at his corner and then he was facing Bam Bam Bigelow and Akbar was in his corner, I think Kerry won if I’m not mistaken, Mr. T was a celebrity after all lol

I got this from a site online, and I remember most of them but not all, perhaps the greatest stable ever? Hmmm here’s the list Akbar,Cactus Jack,Gary Young,Super Black Ninja(Great Muta),Kamala & Iceman Parsons . I gotta think it was a really a great lineup, and im fairly sure Kabuki was the one who brought in Muta into WCCW or was it Mid South, again im sorry I could research it but this is nostalgia not factual.

Anyway last I heard Akbar was working some indy show back a few years ago, since then I don’t know if he’s still going or not. But if he is, I want to say sir, you are a credit to the business and I miss watching you on TV.

Well that’s all I have to say tonight. I still run my own fantasy fed and we’ve passed the milestone 10 year anniversary and we are now almost ending our 11th year of being alive, we are the LONGEST LIVING EFED ON THE NET, guaranteed! So check it out if you want a hobby or a place to hang out. www.striketowers.com
