 New Year Resolutions...

Happy New Year everyone!

First off, congrats to Christy Hemme on her engagement and to the lucky SOB who will wed her. While she isn’t one of the greatest women’s in-ring competitor’s, she definitely has the talent and ‘IT’ factor and I hope we continue to see lots of her on TNA shows now that she has retired from wrestling duties.

Secondly, best of luck to Tommy Dreamer, who I hope will continue to stay in the business behind the scenes, as he has a lot to offer. His passion and love for the business can be used very effectively to help educate and develop future stars. His send-off was classy and genuinely heart-felt, so props to WWE as it was deserved for such a veteran.

Right, onto 2010! Well, this isn’t so much of a resolution, as more of a ‘wish-list’ for the year, a mix of predictions and hopes for WWE and TNA, some could be likely to happen, others, high-hopes!

1. WWE – less PPV’s, more build-up in feuds

2. John Morrison – give this guy a decent feud and a one-on-one match at Wrestlemania with a worthy established opponent. He deserves it, and has the potential to be your next Shawn Michaels!

3. Speaking of Shawn, drop the Undertaker rematch at ‘Mania. Despite how good these two are, I don’t think they can replicate or match last year’s mat classic. Shawn Vs Morrison would be a show-stealer, and an opportunity to elevate John to a much higher level. I think he is ready for it.

4. Onto Taker, sorry sir but the Smackdown title is becoming stale with the same mix of opponents. Batista doesn’t really have anything to offer anymore against you, despite his much needed heel-turn to freshen his appeal. That said, the upcoming title match with Rey could be very interesting indeed, it’s just a matter of chemistry. It’s time Taker stopped dominating the title scene, as it seems to extinguish any steam new stars have built up as champion. I’m talking about Punk mainly, who seemed to have a good thing going, but now creative just seem to be letting him go to rot.

5. Jericho is primed, ready and long overdue for the Smackdown title. He has been carrying the company for many months now and is the man to watch. He works well with just about anybody, genius on the mic and his workrate is superb. He would have a great run with the title and would have some amazing feuds, leading up to a Mania dream match against a returning face-Edge.

6. Drop Hornswoggle. Enough said. It was charming with the Finlay partnership, but now he is just plain annoying. Not funny Vince, even with your stupid PG-13 direction. DX is now a joke (in the bad way) with him as a ‘mascot’.

7. Drop the PG-13 rubbish. Seriously Vince, I suspect this is all down to Linda getting into politics, which will just not happen. Your product is failing, matches become embarrassing when accidental blood has to be treated, thus halting matches. Even the kids are sick of it. Come on Vince, don’t insult your audience, most PG-13 action movies have much more violent and bloody content.

8. WWE – let your stars be creative for themselves! Your veterans didn’t get so good on the mic because they were handed scripts each week, let them use their brains, charisma and help from the experienced guys to rock the place. God I miss the days of The Rock’s promos!

9. Speaking of which, I’m curious to see what is going with Dwayne’s plans with WWE for the inevitable return of The Great One. Something is in the pipeline for sure, whether its guest host, Hall of Fame or Mania, it’s going to be must-see TV! …If you smell what I’m cookin…

10. Let’s build up the heat again for the DiBiase/Orton feud. The hints of it a few months ago really got the crowd going! I hope creative start planting the seeds leading up to one hot feud! It will be interesting to see where Cody Rhodes goes with this too!

11. Bring in some managers! Let’s face it, some of the roster are terrible on the mic, some well thought-out managers here and there always up the fun-side, helps build characters, and keeps matches unpredictable.

12. Onto TNA. Please, please, please, pleeeeeaaasssseeee Hogan, do this for the right reasons and not for your own pocket. This could go either way, Hogan has the right attitude, does what he has been promising and elevates TNA into a Monday-night competitor that gives TNA a run for its money! Or, it will be WCW all over again, with cliques, old veterans politicking to make themselves look good (however bad they are) leaving the young guys to rot away until they jump ship to WWE.

13. This leads me onto the TNA roster. Some well-known stars making surprise appearances on TNA could be a great thing to help evolve the plethora of young talent TNA has. Seriously, as far as in-ring ability goes, TNA has WWE beat hands down.

14. TNA, back up the ambition! Stop the studio-produced TV show. That time has passed, now it’s time to take TNA on the road. It will get the company more exposure, win more fans over and help to increase attendance figures.

15. Jeff Hardy – sort yourself out bro. Whatever is going on, this year is the time to heal your body, right any wrongs, clear matters up and get your head straight. Otherwise, leave it too long, hopping in and out of the business and you will eventually lose your fan-base and the opportunity will be lost for you to become the top level star you are. You were on fire last year, with a following as strong as, if not better than Cena’s! You deserve it, so does your brother Matt.

16. I’ve said it before and I will say it again, drop the celebrity guest host angle! If you must do it, keep it to the field of Wrestling, where there are plenty of legends and retired stars to fall back on.

No doubt I will think of more after I have written this, but those are my grumbles, gripes and idealistic visions for the industry this year. No doubt many of you will disagree, and I’m fine with that, actually I’m interested to hear your thoughts!

Right, tonight is a BIG night! One of the biggest Wrestling has seen for many years! I won’t know until tomorrow because of the time difference here in Dubai, but here’s hoping this is the start of some big competition between TNA and WWE. Either Vince has been resting on his laurels and has been caught unaware, or TNA has given Vince the kick in the ass to up his game. It all rests on the shoulders of two men – Bret Hart and Hulk Hogan.
