What To Hope For From Wrestling In 2010

Hello wrestling fans and welcome to first edition in 2010 of the whole scoop. Today I want to discuss what I expect this upcoming coming year from wrestling with my thoughts on what we should see more of and what we should see less of in order to make wrestling once again a highly entertaining weekly show. Along with that, I will also discuss which wrestlers i want to see pushed in the new year and those who would like to see take a step back or maybe even disappear, what type of matches I'd like to see more of and what kind of matches I don't want to see and lastly what type of changes I would like to see made, in which I feel will make a wrestling program a better all around show for us fans, so let's get to it.

Wrestlers that I'd like to see get a chance:

Motor City Machine Guns: I think these guys are a well oriented tag team who not only bring tons of great wrestling ability in the ring, but have loads of potential to be funny on air characters. These guys remind of a young Michaels and Triple H in DX and if TNA can utilize these guys as comedy acts on the show, yet giving them the chance to display their talents in the ring as well in competetive matches, i feel that they will carry the tag team division in 2010 as the newest face of what tag team wrestling can really be. They can work as comedy acts with great wrestling in the ring to be an around entertaining team taken serious as long as they are given that chance to shine in the ring and any comedic acts they do aren't childish, much like the DX we see now on WWE programming.

Samao Joe: As TNA may start to gain composure this year going head to head with the WWE they are going to have to base their show around some wrestler's who offer something like very few can. Samoa Joe has his own original style that brings forth a lot of which we don't regularly see in wrestling today. I dont think he should get the title right away, but should be built over time this year running through talent to display how good he is and eventually he will reach that time where TNA can put the title on his waist in a non rushing and slow building process that in the end will make him a very convincing champion.

Daniels: We saw a lot of personality towards the end of 2009 from him and he displayed to me that he can be a credible heel surely capable of being an upper mid carder/main eventer. He should continue to be some where at the top continuing to be a heel and in a feud with someone who can further elevate him to stardom level and one of the strongest heels in TNA. He has the skills in the ring and if used right he can be one of TNA's best heels of 2010.

Matt Morgan: Someone has surprised me this year as a convincing talented big man in wrestling. TNA gave him the shot that the WWE did not and he has ceased his moment, by not only improving his in ring skills a lot, but also by being a guy who knows how to express himself on the mic. This is exactly one thing TNA needs a credible big man who has some in ring wrestling talent, yet at the same time can carry himself on the microphone in a good promo with probably just about anyone. I can see TNA either putting him in a good feud with a heel Samoe Joe or Christopher Daniels.

Hernandez: He is much like Morgan, although not as skilled on the microphone. You give him a good manager who can most of the talking for him, much like Brock Lesnar starting off with Paul Heyman and he has a good chance of bringing a lot as no less than mid card or upper mid card status.

Homicide: Very under utilized in 2009 and since the break up of LAX, he's not been given the chance he deserves. If TNA fails to give him a chance they will lose an opportunity to push a guy that has loads of potential to bring to wrestling what we fans want to see and have failed to see in the past. Homicide is no less deserving of the chance than his former partner Hernandez is getting as far as what I think he can bring.

Dinero: The fans are behind him, he brings tons of all around energy in the ring and in any segment/promo he takes part in. WWE lost in my opinion a guy who has just about everything in wrestling to be a successful future star that a company can possibly build around or at least in the future be a huge part of the success of TNA.

Beer Money: They may break up and I'm not sure where TNA is going with it, but i think would be a mistake if they do. I think they are a good tag team who work very well together and I would love to see them in a heated feud with the Motor City Machine Guns at some point this year, with both teams being the focus of the division. This would give us two natural tag teams that have tons of chemistry together giving us what tag team wrestling has been missing for years.

Rey Mysterio: He's has tons of ability but since the WWE can't look past his size, he fails to ever truly get the chance to show exactly how good he can be. He takes a back seat to guys like Mark Henry, The Big Show and even the Great Khali, guys that may have size, but don't have much in ring wrestling talent. Mysterio deserves to be a more important part of any wrestling show than guys like this and if he continues to take a back seat to wrestler's like this, he's a wasted talent that I would love to see end up in TNA's X Division.

Evan Bourne: Another very talented wrestler who seems to be not be taken serious by the WWE and he's fully capable of being much more than he is now. I would love to see the cruiserweight division brought back so a guy like Bourne can be based around the division and given a chance to shine.

Kofi Kingston: A guy who is getting a push and has the talent behind him to be worthy of one. I hope he continues to be pushed eventually leading to main event status, whether or not he can end up being a future star that can help carry the company. Sometimes risks need to be taken and this is one that I think is worth it and has the chance to succeed in developing a star that the company needs.

Sheamus: I think Sheamus is all around good on the microphone and in the ring. I'm not sure if I am sold on him being world champion right now, as I think he might have been built up too fast, thus getting a rushed title run, which might end up being a bad thing in the long run. None the less he's very capable of being a good part of the WWE future whether a champion or continuing to be one of the main superstars on a WWE show.

The Miz: He's a very obnoxious and full of himself guy who gets himself over well as a good heel because of it. He reminds of when the Rock was a heel and had certain catch phrases that despite being a heel fans caught on too and enjoyed playing along with. Miz is surely not comparable to the Rock and I doubt will ever be as big as him. None the less he's improved a lot in the ring and I do enjoy most segments/promos he's involved even if it's one done poorly, I find he carries himself well enough to still make things interesting. I'd like to see something done with him beyond where he is and maybe even a face change and a feud with Jack Swagger would be good, because they seem have good chemistry together.

Jack Swagger: Like the Miz I find that he can do pretty good promos and I see him being a really good future heel if he's given a chance to more than he is right now. I haven't seen much of him in the ring, but everything out of, I've enjoyed thus far.

Santino Marella: Marella is gold and whether or not he's a jobber, he's really funny and cracks me up every time he's on the show. But it disappoints me that he is only used a comedy act without getting a chance to be anything more than a jobber that is not taken seriously. I think his character has so much to offer and if they don't push him in the future, he could be a wasted chance.

Carlito: I've always like Carlito, but he has fallen among one of the WWE superstars that seems to not have any care or support from the bookers. I have heard it's due to some of his backstage actions that has not made him favorable to the company, but no matter what the reason is, he's a good in ring athlete who has charisma and if given the right feud can carry himself and become something.

Legace(Debiase and Rhodes): Their already getting pushed and its a very good idea. They are both all around great for wrestling and while they are being pushed right, I hope that their push leads to both of them being future main stars in the WWE, because these two guys have tons of potential to be big stars of the future that the company needs to build themselves around.

Christian: He's never really got his big chance to be one of the main guys on Smackdown or Raw. ECW doesn't stand for much as it's their minor league show. Christian has always been great on the mic and a good in ring performer, so it would be nice to see him get at least one chance to be Smackdown Champion or Raw Champion.

CM Punk: I really like CM Punk, but I think when he was champion he was never truly treated like a credible one, much like Rey Mysterio or the late Chris Benoit. Among that this whole straight edge character has taken a bad spin and I find that his promos are just getting boring. The angle worked with him being a face, but since the heel turn it's went down hill for me. He is a guy who can remain at the top, but only if they make changes and reinvent a new CM Punk personna.

Drew Mcintyre: Has every bit of what a guy like Sheamus has to offer to the company, if not more. He is another guy that deserves a chance and might be worth the risk.

Dolph Ziggler: From what I've seen he can also be a pretty big future star. But I don't see him being able to be anything more than a upper mid carder, still can be a good part of the future of Smackdown or Raw if with the proper build up and character development.

Edge: Edge has always been good and still is good and when he comes back I'm sure he will be right where he was as one of the main focuses on the show again, which will be great, he's been one guy who being off air for a while has hurt the WWE.

John Morrisson: Awesome wrestler and pretty good all around. I'd love to see him get a shot in the future as well to be more than just an intercontinental champion type of wrestler.

Moving on I want to talk briefly go through wrestler's that either need to be gone from television or are in desperate need of character changes in order to strike my interest in them.

Rhino: He's very stale and very boring right now. I'm really not sure if anything can be done to make him a entertaining part of a TNA show anymore, because TNA has loads of guys who are more talented and more deserving of TV time. But he's in desperate of a serious change or TNA would be better off to just be rid of him.

Jesse Neal: Never got into to him and I think TNA had many better choices than him to bring in with the storyline he's involved. He's very green in the ring and I find the way he tries too hard to express himself when he wrestles, I think it should just come naturally or as a fan you should at least see something of even a little of bit of striking interest, there is nothing he brings to the table for me and I think he should be off television.

Team 3D: No doubtingly one of the most accomplished tag teams in wrestling history. The fact is, they are know only a shell of their former self's and right now being involved in an angle with Neal and Rhino are only making any on air appearances boring to me. I don't think they need to or should be let go, but its time for them to be used to put over younger stars/tag teams, as they still have some star power behind their name that can be used to help develop new tag teams.

Jay Lethal: Great athlete and can still be a good part of TNA's future, especially the X division. But this whole Black Machismo thing has to stop, it's not entertaining, it's not original and this something hashed from the past that makes a joke out of a good wrestler. Lose the dumb copy of the Macho Man gimmick and put him in the X division with a complete different storyline, otherwise I will never see him as anything more than a wasted talent.

Rob Terry: I like the British Invasion, but Rob Terry really doesn't do anything for me. At TNA's last pay per view he got the briefcase that gives him a X division title shot in the future, it obviously shows TNA must be lost and has no idea what to do with him, because if he is actually going into the X division reguarly it makes no sense. All around I find he has nothing to offer to TNA and that he should get his release.

Bobby Lashley: Many may not agree with me, but since TNA has brought him, he's done nothing for me. Firstly he's not good on the microphone whats so ever, so I hope that TNA uses someone to speak for him. Secondly if they have him continue to squash through talent like he's been doing for the most part, they are making people around him weak to make him strong which i think is bad. It's quite possible that he has yet to be in a match where his abilities can really show, Samoa Joe was the best option for that and the match was very short resulting in Lashley winning quickly(to which the fans actually were displeased with and booed). I don't want to see another Goldberg type of approach with him, give him competitive matches that result in him winning if they plan to give him a big push, but squashing wrestler's should not be a part of wrestling.

DX: These guys are like child comedy acts on television these days and it's insulting to me as a fan to have to watch it. If I have to continuously watch Shawn Michaels and Triple H act like 13 year old teenagers on television anymore I will change the channel anytime DX is on. On top of their annoying childish humor, they are still main highlights on Raw and there are guys taking a back seat to these guys. It's time for them to pass the torch and if DX is to remain at least have them build younger stars and give the tag titles to a real tag team like the new Hart team. The only way i see DX working is if they add a few new members that are young wrestler's resulting in these guys getting a push and Legacy maybe adding one more member to their group and start a stable feud where young superstars end benefiting from them being around.

The Big Show: Not too much to say other than "The Big Slow and Boring". I don't understand why he has such a high role on any show, he is a guy who really needs to take a backseat so a younger more talented wrestler can get a chance and take his spot.

The Great Khali: Never belonged in wrestling, because he simply can't wrestle.

Batista: As far as my opinion goes unless he's a guy used to help put over younger superstars, his time for being one of the main focuses on a wrestling program should be over with.

Chris Masters: Can anyone tell me what is interesting about a guy who can jiggle his man boobs? What are the bookers thinking and why he even getting TV time with such a ridiculous gimmick?. This is WWE programming at it's worst. This guy is worthless as far as being entertaining for wrestling. And on top of that at the grammy Raw show weeks, I actually calculated and he got almost as much tv time as the champion Sheamus.

Hornswoggle: This is a gimmick for chrildren, nothing less. I understand they want to appeal to kids as well, but why do they have to involve with DX and make the group even more struggling to watch than it already is?.

Mark Henry: Short and sweet like Show and Khali he really is not deserving for having much of a spot on television and most certainly anything near where he is.

Kane: Kane has always been a fairly respectable big man and different to all the other big man i mentioned above is descent in the ring. But his character has gone quite stale, I'd love to see them reinvent the man behind the mask once again, otherwise can isn't very appealing to me. (Read my "Kane Reborn" column so see fully what I think should be done.).

What I want to see more or less of in 2010:

Kurt Angle vs Desmond Wolfe type of matches: Was probably what of the best wrestling matches I've seen in quite some time. It gave a taste of wrestling with suplexes mixed with lots of MMA holds, so fans got a taste of a little UFC mixed with wrestling. These are the type of matches that I truly believe are going to draw more fans.

Less talk and more wrestling for both organizations. Time for TNA(Total Nonstop Action) to actually put those terms in their wrestling shows on a regular basis. And the WWE has failed to be that in many years.

Less interference in matches: I don't mind odd interference here and there, but when its used often it losing its affect and ruins matches. I would like to see more matches with clean finishes or closure.

Less pay per views: I think this would make wrestling a whole lot better, because it would give each company more time to build each and every match on the card, instead of building only the top few matches properly, with some others getting very little notice. On top of each match having more time to be hyped and of more meaning because of it, the longer you wait for a pay per view the more exciting it will. With all that being said I think the pay per views will be more enjoying for a wrestling fan and because every match had a good amount of build up the whole pay view will offer a lot more.

Very few gimmick matches: I think matches like steel cages, brawls, falls count anywhere, no dq or even things like "you lose you leave raw" or "you win you get a title shot", should be used very rarely. If you see these types of matches not so frequently when they are used they will mean more, but when he see them often "it becomes the same old crap"(so to speak). I would use certain matches only at pay per views for instance or a special raw or impact event.

John Cena to turn heel, John Cena to turn heel, John Cena to turn heel, oh and did mention John Cena to turn heel?. He gets a fair amount of boos from time to time any ways and the fact is a lot people within the age groups of 18 plus(unless they are female) tend to boo him. Every Wrestlemania event, which are the shows the "die hard wrestling fans" attend, Cena always gets booed when he's supposed to be a face. If people enjoy booing him so much, MAKE HIM HEEL!, it'll be a good move, because people already like booing him.

Guys who are not good wrestler's to not be on television and if they not even close to main event status. These are the guys that are causing fans to struggle watching wrestling, because if they can't wrestle it's not wrestling, at least not anymore. In the 80's a good personna or great gimmick was sometimes all you needed, but these guys are much more and I am hoping the people who book wrestling shows finally realize this!!.

Ken Anderson and Rob Van Dam to join TNA.

Hulk Hogan to actually want to help bring TNA to higher level, without his ego coming into to play resulting in him and his buddies taking all the focus of the show away from younger stars and all for themselves, because if that is what doesn't happen and their stardom is actually use to help utilize and devlop younger stars, TNA may surprise everyone this year and at some point become a threat to the WWE and wouldn't that be something!!!.

On a final note tonight is Impact vs Raw for the first time ever and despite the fact that I think TNA's of chances of coming even close to WWE in the ratings tonight, I'm very excited. Both shows seem to have a few things going on which makes things interesting and when you go head to head that is what happens each show tries to out due the other. So in this upcoming I can only hope that TNA really steps up and draws competetion as than WWE will have to try to out due them and in order to that they will obviously have to make their product better than the stale one they have one. Wrestling will once again become must watch television and even if it doesn't happen I can dream or hope!. The truth the excitement of my imagination to the idea itself gets my juices flowing.

None to the less tonight we Hogan's debut in TNA and Bret Hart's Return to the WWE.

Thanks for reading wrestling fans and happy new year.
Till next time God Speak and best of blessings.
