I have taken in and digested what was given to me from this past Monday night from TNA and the WWE. I should come as no surprise that I tuned more into TNA then I did to the supposed leader of pro wrestling, WWE. The ratings are in as well and of course the WWE had a better rating then TNA, but the rating for WWE was the just about the same as it was from last week-- 3.73. The rating for TNA was a 1.5. Considering Bret Hart was the guest host for the night I was figuring the rating was going to be higher than that, I was thinking about a 4.5 or even 4.9, but that wasn’t to be. The 1.5 that TNA received was actually pretty good for them considering the show averages about 1.2 each week. So in terms of ratings, WWE won the evening but as far as a success for the shows, TNA won it in terms of percentage of viewers compared to what they usually get.Lets move on to the shows themselves as far as content is concerned. I will start with TNA. The start of the show was using the X-Division and putting them in a steel asylum match. It was an interesting way of using the guys, but when Homicide decided to use a foreign object on everyone in the ring, the crowd was not happy because of that ending. The first surprise wrestler to show up was Jeff Hardy, he took out Homicide, and then climbed the cage and just sat there. I was mildly surprised that he was there, I had figured that once his legal troubles were behind him, he would have returned to the WWE-I guessed wrong. His legal problems aren’t done yet either, so his return to TNA could still be a big question mark. Lets see on the show we saw a return of Scott Hall, X-Pac, Orlando Jordan (who really cares), Ric Flair (biggest surprise for me this night), Val Venis, The Nasty Boys, and Shannon Moore. I didn’t list Hogan or Bischoff cause we all knew they were going to be there. I enjoyed the segments because the anticipation of who would show up was what made me stay on the channel. The main event of the night was spectacular with Kurt Angle going against AJ Styles. They both put on one hell of a match and it’s no wonder AJ is the champ-best decision TNA made when they gave him the belt. I didn’t really care much for the Mick Foley beat down at the end of the show. It reminded me too much of WCW of old. It will be an interesting time in TNA to see if what Hogan says is what will be happening in the federation. He claims everyone will start at the same level and then each and every wrestler has to show what they’ve got. If they can’t talk and wrestle, they may as well head to the door and not look back. Sounds good to me, I am just hoping they mean it. All in all I thoroughly enjoyed the show and it took me back nearly 10 years to the heyday of the Monday Night Wars, it was worth seeing this show, I’m glad I did. Now onto the WWE, the hour started off with the return of Bret Hart and a lot of talking and Shawn Michaels came out and the two buried the hatchet in front of the crowd. Good now we can all move on from the Montreal Screwjob, oh wait, there is still Vince Mcmahon to have to confront. Well in order to do that, naturally we have to wait until the very end of the show. The rest of the show was subpar at best. Okay so we saw another match between Jerishow and DX but with Hornswoggle thrown in the mix. It could have been better had Jerishow won this one, but because Vince thinks we love DX, they had to win the bout. Maybe the reason for the lose was to have Jericho go back to Smackdown to get into the running for the World Heavyweight Championship, one can only hope. We also got another go round with Randy Orton and Kofi Kingston. It would have been a better choice to have Kingston walk away with the win, but Orton did instead. It would appear as if Kingston might just be losing his push with this lose. Am I right in my guess on this one? Another squash match with Evan Bourne losing to Sheamus...poor Evan. He has so much talent I can’t understand why the WWE is doing this to him. Now that Melina is out with an injury they will be doing a Diva’s tournament to see who will be then next champ (if that’s what you really call this title). Do I care who will win, no. Who do I think will win this “title?” Maryse…that’s all I’m saying. The ending segment between Bret Hart and Vince was to say, lackluster. You could tell that Vince was going to say or do something after the “apology” he gave Bret. Sure enough he kicked Bret in the groan. He walked off and that was the end of the show…that’s it?? A kick to the groan? Crap, utter crap. This is why I will probably start to watch TNA on Thursdays and might tune in to the WWE. I realize they did this to set up a probable street fight between Vince and Bret at Wrestlemania, but to have this type of a finish is what pulls the viewers away to watch the competiton. What are your thoughts on this historical evening. Did you watch TNA or WWE or both for that matter. Did TNA sway you to watch them over the WWE? Will you watch TNA on Thursdays now that you have witnessed what they have to offer? 2010 is looking up, I am hoping that TNA doesn’t drop the ball, and I wish them much success this year. I for one am tired of watching the same 3-4 guys on WWE every Monday night and I wish TNA would move to Monday night and start up a new Monday Night War, but I don't see that happening. If they would move, it would make the WWE step up their game and make both shows great. That’s my 3 cents worth, til next time……
