The future of wrestling is now, as long as he doesn’t piss off the people in the back that is because of not being able to wear a mask, who am I talking about? Why Alberto Del Rio of course (or as some would know him as Dos Caras, Jr.) I see many good things happening for this man. Some would say the WWE is aiming to have him take Rey Maysterio’s place once Rey decides to retire, which could be more sooner than later. It’s a good idea to have him go against Rey cause all the fans just love the little guy. So in order to have a new wrestler come in and make an impact, have the guy beat on Rey. Rio has the mat skills, the mic skills, and the charisma to make it huge in this industry and the WWE. Then there is the other side of the spectrum and the joke who is “Dashing” Cody Rhodes. This gimmick won’t last very long. I’m willing to bet by early next year the writers will have to come up with something different for the guy. He doesn’t really have the “it” factor as far as I’m concerned. Polka dots for his father, face paint for his brother, and this joke for him. The WWE must not like the Rhodes family too much. I guess they figure if the guys have air time on any show, it will keep them happy and quiet-this holds true for any WWE wrestler I would imagine. My question to you dear reader is this, besides the Goobledygooker gimmick, what was/is the dumbest gimmick ever in wrestling? Kaval winning the second season of NXT is a travesty of justice. Michael McGillicutty (Joe) should have won the damn thing. Having Kaval go for a championship at a PPV will be as interesting as watching paint dry. I know that Joe will get his time in the limelight cause he has a great future ahead of him. Whenever I see him, I am reminded of his father Curt Hennig. He is practically the spitting image of the man. He’s got some big shoes to fill to come close to what his father accomplished, but the future looks extremely bright for this young man that’s for sure. Did you see Vickie’s choice for NXT Season 3? That woman is an amazon at 6’9” tall, yikes!! I understand the rumor in the WWE is all the titles will be unified in the coming year. Is this a good idea? Having only one Heavyweight champion? Will this mean the United States and Intercontinental Titles will be unified as well? The tag team championship has already been unified, but with such a crappy division, it doesn’t really mean much until it is built back up to what it once was. Is it possible this division will be great once again now that the title has been unified? How about the Diva’s and Woman’s championship? Oh that’s right, this division is a joke and will be until/if they get some decent women in the division. Eye candy will only take you so far. I am ready to have some women that can actually wrestle and entertain me inside the squared circle instead of what I have been looking at the past year. Is this the year it will happen? According to NXT Season 3 it appears as if it will be all women competing for their chance at greatness. Lets hope these ladies can actually be something more than window dressing, cause I am real tired of it all. Getting back to the unification of titles, I for one would really love to see the Cruiserweight title back in the picture for the guys that will never get a chance at the Heavyweight or the IC titles. The guys such as Evan Bourne, Daniel Bryan, Justin Gabriel, Christian (even though he should be Heavyweight), Matt Hardy, CM Punk, Chavo, and even Kofi Kingston. Even the UFC has heavyweight, light heavyweight, middleweight, welterweight, and a lightweight title. You tell me what you think on this one. Sure unify titles, but bring in some that we haven’t seen in a long time, it would help to make the lower to mid-card wrestlers matches a bit more interesting to watch. So the 900th episode of Raw took place this past Monday. The Bret Hart vs. Undertaker match was a no brainer that it wasn’t going to happen. The beat down of the Taker by Nexus was odd, I am assuming Kane is in cahoots with them, but who knows. Chalk up another Nexus guy out as well, with a legit broken ankle. Five members, do I smell this angle going away before the end of the year? Or will some of the NXT Season 2 guys join the group to make it a bigger stronger group once again? There were no big surprises as far as Monday night is concerned. For being a landmark episode, I was expecting something more. Although I did enjoy CM Punk and the SES-minus Serena of course. The man knows how to put on a hell of a promo in the ring. He would be a great Cruiserweight champion, if there was such a championship again that is. The last match of the night sure seemed rushed to me. Course it took nearly 10 minutes to get the guys in the ring so by that time it was the top of the 2nd hour. When seeing this one has to figure the match won’t last very long, boy was I right. At least Nexus won the match for the night. This is off topic, but don’t be surprised if Chris Jericho isn’t long for the WWE as a wrestler. If his contract is coming due, I’m sure he won’t be in the federation for long. He wants to spend time with his family and sing more with Fozzy-his band and also do other ventures other than wrestling. Just wait and see…….. That’s my 3 cents worth, til next time……
