The Game of the Moment: SMACKdown! Shut Your Mouth. Only on Playstation 2 is the next generation of wrestling games. Wrestlers: The updated roster has upped the count to at least 40-50 wrestlers including Stone Cold and Brock Lesnar, just about everyone that the WWE can squeeze out. Each wrestler comes with their own personalities with detailed faces, tattoo's, you name it, it's in there. Each wrestler has the usual gorgeous entrance complete with lighting, announcing, and pyros *if any*. Also included is the special aftermath of the matches where certain triggers on the controller can be pressed to either have the opponent attacked or do you own exit entrance. Plus even the create a wrestler mode has of course been updated and probably the best the business has ever seen. And If there is a wrester on the roster that you want to create example: Rey Mysterio do what I did was created him all of his things are there including his jumping entrance. Season/ Gameplay *Matches*:As the past Smackdowns! Have shown large amount of specialty matches to keep you going until the next game. This version just adds a little more gas to the already big enough flame. Including the unforgiving *no pun intended* Hell in A. Cell, which has been made to its correct real life counterpart in the WWE where you can re-create the most infamous matches ever *Example:Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels* As for the controller is still the same basis as the other games no big difference. The season mode has been greatly improved over last years JBI its expand you and your character over a 2 year span from Backlash 2002-Wrestlemania 2004. The replication of the arena's are beautiful looking compared to the past and the fun part is some of the settings are interactive as well. You interact with various people back stage as well. Background objects are far more interactive, too, so you can throw some loser in a dumpster, set off the fire alarms, and if your crazy just pull some crazy hardcore stunts. Going after the belt isn't an easy task, you gotta work your way from the bottom up as the jobber *unless your The Undertaker hehe*. Sounds: The commentary in SYM has not vastly improved over JBI, but the sense from THQ had made the comments less where there was once a continual stream of nonsense spewed forth from the mouths of Tazz and Michael Cole, there's now the odd bit of color from JR or Jerry Lawler. The comments are just an addition to the action in the last game, but the presence of some silence during matches is a good thing not a bad thing. The wrestlers remain silent except some voice clips of Austin, Rock or even the Book, but at least the ring announcements are now authentic ("Now entering the ring," , etc.). My Review: Despite the already dead engine which has been on since day one, the game itself should keep most wrestling fans quiet to occupy their time, and the season mode is a nice addition to give the single player enough to talk about despite some lagging loading time don't complain. The animation is great, but will eventually need to be overhauled into a new formula. The grappling system remains the same, the various wrestling matches are endless, and the CAW is at the top notch level. But all you hardcore SMACKdown fans this game is quite possibly the best in the series don't knock it until you try it. SMACKdown! meter: 4 smacks out of 5 -J-
