Quick Fact: Steve Austin is the only man to ever win 3 Royal Rumbles.

Steve Austin started off his wrestling career by being trained by the legendary Chris Adams, now of WCW. After entering World Class in the late 80's. Austin went on to face his teaher and beat him in a series of matches. Austin was being heraled as the next Ric Flair, mainly to his long blonde hair, his great ring ability, and his interviewing skills. After World Class, Austin went to WCW, where he would be a fixture for several years. He won the TV title, and then joined Brian Pillman and formed the Hollywood Blondes tag team that many, including Mark Madden of WCW, call the greatest tag team of the decade. After a successful run as US tag champs, the duo went on to hold the World tag belts before they lost them in a match where Brian Pillman couldn't show because of an injury and Steve Regal had to substitue for him. Austin, still a heel, went on to feud with his ex-partner, and went on to win the US title. He had a great feud with Ricky Steamboat in '94, but the feud ended quickly when Steamboat took a bad bump from a slip off the top rope, and had to retire. Austin lost the US belt to Jim Duggan in 1994, and began having problems with the company. When he was injured in early 1995, Eric Bischoff released him from his contract, and Austin went on to ECW where he became "Superstar" Steve Austin. He started off by taking shots at Hulk Hogan and WCW, and worked on his interview skills with the company before returning to the ring. After getting beat by Mikey Whipwreck for the ECW title, he went on to the WWF where he became the Ringmaster. After Ted Dibiase left the WWF, and the Ringmaster gimmick died, Austin went to Vince McMahon, and asked him what they were going to do with him. McMahon replied by saying that Austin could do whatever he wanted, because the WWF had no idea what to do with him. Austin started using his old ring name, except this time with "Stone Cold" as his moniker. He quickly got attention by bashing Dibiase for holding him back, and by using profanity. His attitude was definitly heelish, but he started gaining a huge following after winning the King of the Ring in 1996. He got into a feud with the WWF's number one face, Bret Hart, and the fans were split between the two. It was apparent at this moment that Austin had finally became a big name star in a fed. That almost came to an end at the end of 1997 when he suffered a severe stinger at the hands of Owen Hart. Despite warnings to retire, Austin kept making appearanes, and made his way back to the ring. He won the WWF title at Wrestlemania of this year. He lost the belt to Kane, but regained it one night later on a Monday Night RAW. Austin tried winning the title again in a tournament at Survivor Series, but was screwed out of a chance in the semi-finals by a double-crossing Shane McMahon. The Rock won the title, and then feuded with Mankind while Austin went after McMahon. McMahon beat Austin in the Royal Rumble to become number 1 contender, but Shawn Michaels reversed the decision the next night on RAW, and that gave Austin the title shot at Wrestlemania. Austin finally got his hands on McMahon in a cage match at St. Valentine's Day massacre, and beat McMahon, despite interference from Paul Wight, the Giant in WCW. Austin is now going to face the Rock for the WWF belt in the main event of Wrestlemania. Austin won the belt, and during IYH Backlash, the rematch, Austin came out ontop thanks to Vince McMahon. The following night, McMahon asked Austin for help in getting his daughter back from the Ministry. Austin "declined" but helped out anyway, freeing Stephanie McMahon, and taking out the Ministry all in one. After the Rock was booted from the Corporation, and they joined with the Ministry, he began teaming with Rocky and Vince McMahon to take on the powerful stable.

After a drawn out feud against HHH, Austin was hit by a car and taken off TV. The angle was done to cover up for neck surgery that Austin needed to remove bone spurs that were causing him pain and affecting the feeling in his body. After a long layoff, Austin returned briefly to help the Rock against the McMahon/Helmsley team, where the Rock won the title from Triple H.

Austin had fully recovered from his injury and was back. He wanted to find out who hit ran him over with the car and after a few weeks of investigations, Rikishi reveals himself as the person who rasn over Austin. On April 1st, 2001 (WrestleMania 17) Austin faced the Rock for the WWF title. With the help of Vince McMahon, Austin beat the Rock to become a 5 time WWF Champion and that was the night where Austin turned heel. The following night, Austin told the fans he doesn't need them etc..but he was still received some mixed cheers, so the WWF made him beat up Jim Ross on Smackdown in his home town so that would put him over more as heel. Shortly after, Austin teamed up with HHH and they beat Undertaker and Kane to become the new tag team champions, but they didn't keep the titles for long.
