History: Rob Van Dam wrestled the indy's for six and a half years before making his way to ECW. He was trained by Sabu, and during the early days of his career, beat Sabu in a match. After refusing to shake Sabu's hand after the match, the two had a mini-feud before becoming tag team partners, and taking on Taz and the Eliminators. During the first ECW ppv, Van Dam and Sabu went heel when Taz's manager, Bill Alfonso, betrayed him. The duo then claimed allegiance to the WWF, and Van Dam started his Mr. Monday Night character, which really began to boom his career. After some memorable interviews, and an apperance on WWF RAW, Tommy Dreamer and the Sandman attacked him, along with Jerry Lawler, and ECW suspended Van Dam, and then had their entire roster take shots at him in a big interview segment on the TV show. The following week at Wrestlepalooza 97, Van Dam attacked Tommy Dreamer after he wrestled Raven ,and him Sabu, and Lawler held off the entire ECW roster until Taz showed up at the ring. This feud escalated over the months. Van Dam won the TV Belt from Bam Bam Bigelow, and around the same time, dethroned Chris Candido and Lance Storm for the ECW tag belts. Sabu and Van Dam had a short feud for the TV belt, and the duo also feuded with the Dudley's for the tag belts. Van Dam stretched his title reign to over a year, and began feuding with his toughest opponent, Jerry Lynn. The two had a couple classic matches on pay per view, and another on a TNN taping that blew the roof of the house. They even tag teamed together against the Impact Players at Heatwave 99, which fell apart after Sabu entered the foray, and the three men had to be seperated. Van Dam has continued to feud with the Impact Players, who have added Johnny Smith to take out Van Dam.
