Lesnar
« on: October 24, 2010, 10:29:04 AM »
i wonder how Lesnar will be remembered in the long term?

he came into the UFC from prowres, with only 1 MMA match (vs. a can) under his cap, and handily beat Heath Herring and Randy Couture, and split a series with Frank Mir. After unifying the heavyweight title, he beat KO guy Shane Carwin in a 50/50 performance (looked terrible the first round but kicked ass in the 2nd to win), and got destroyed by up-and-comer Cain Velasquez.

i guess it really depends what he does now, but he's got a 5-2 record and a former UFC Heavyweight Champ.

in other news, Cain's first defense is against Junior Dos Santos, which i can't wait to see.

Lesnar got his ass WHOOPED!!!!  I'm also curious to see how he's going to bounce back from this.  I don't know why he changed his style of fighting though.  But glad he got his ass handed to him by a Mexican of all people.

Apparently he had a staredown with the Undertaker (of all people) after the fight...the internet is already buzzing with Lesnar-to-wwe rumours. Lesnar vs. Undertaker at WM 27!!

That'd be pretty sick.  I'd be okay with a Lesnar return to WWE.  I've liked watching his fights (although I missed his last whooping), but I'm a wrestling fan at heart.  Although I have a feeling Taker is set to retire at WM 27, and I don't think Lesnar would be the one who would take his streak.  Probably someone lame like Cena.

With the way things are going in WWE it looks as if Kane will be the one.  I remember reading somewhere a while back that Taker wanted Kane to be the one to break the streak.  But honestly do you see Taker's LAST match at WM and taking a LOSS???  I don't think so...

the kane/taker feud is supposedly over here shortly. the biggest rumor i've heard recently is taker/cena at WrestleMania 2012 (taker's 20th appearance) where cena beats him and sends him packing. that DOES open up 'mania 2011 for lesnar or anyone else to swoop in and lose.

I'm calling it right now, there's no chance in hell Cena ends the streak. I do think that will be the 2012 match though.

I'll raise you; there's no chance in hell ANYONE ends the streak.  Cena/Taker for WM 2012 would be good.  Hell I think 2011 would be good too.

LAST CHANCE FOR EVERYONE:

tomorrow night is the next Brock Lesnar fight (versus a very game opponent, Dutch striker Alistair Overeem). the winner will get a title shot sometime in 2012 (4th of July card most likely). should be a hella good time. i'm watching it at a buddy's place, i assume Cruz will hit up Buffalo Wild Wings, what are YOUR plans?

since Lesnar is now retired from fighting, and i can't start a new thread, here's some hilarious MMA GIFs:

^this guy just decides the match is over, without a tap out or ref interference.  BTW it ends up going to a decision.

^UFC83, in one of the most lopsided decisions in UFC history

^dude knocks himself out with a takedown
