The reason Maria was moved to Smackdown was because the feeling was Smackdown needed another babyface on the show. With RAW and ECW soon merging, Kelly Kelly would no longer be on SD, which leaves only Cherry and Michelle McCool as babyfaces on SD. Now Maria will be in feuds with heel Divas like Maryse, Victoria and Natalya. Layla was moved to RAW from ECW to get her ready for a potential appearance in Playboy scheduled for before WM 25.
