Here is the latest rantbag, this week TWNP asked its visitors "What did you think of WrestleMania X8?"
On with the rants
Sent in by Rachel I stopped watching wrestling more than about a month ago, because somethings been missing. I guess I don't fall for the Flair thing. However, I heard the NWO was on so I happened to watch a little bit of Raw and I loved it when Hogan came out, [I used to watch WCW when I was real young and he's one of my faves]and then the rock. It was perhaps too long but, very different and interesting. I bought it, and I'd love to see them battle at Wrestlemania.
Sent in by Travis I don't thing the angle went too far at all. It's nothing more brutal than what the WWF had DX doing back in the 90's or as in apropriate as the Hart Foundation/NOD race angle a few years back. What did go too far was the constant rehashing and mentioning of the event. A good portion of RAW was spent on replays or poor match comentary due to the announcers trying to sell Rocks injury. Over all I was very disappointed with the show and found myself wanting to switch channels from Nitro to RAW (oops, can't do that anymore)
Sent in by MychaelHell no, I don't think they went too far with the angle. WWF fans I think are more lenient towards heels, and they don't fear and hate them quite as much as the NWO was feared and hated in WCW. The WWF is trying to- right from the start- set them up as "the Ultimate Heels", and I think they did a damn good job of it.
Sent in by Jim I don't think they went to far. I recall Steve Austin "crushing" Triple H in car last year. It's all fake anyway! Now if I may, why do "reporters" have to say stupid things. Leave Scott Hall alone. Don't you think the WWF is watching their investment? I know this is off the subject but I'm tired of reading crap that is presented as "News"!
Sent in by MrsBiggsThe whoolw NWO ambulance thing was stupid before they hit it with the truck it had its lights on and had chains around it after they hit it with the truck no lights no chains come on and the ambulance had no name on it but the second one had Bell ambulance on it just like the back board
Sent in by TravisHell yeah i think they went over board! They could have killed the Rock. They should have stopped before the hammer in the back of the head(which he wasn't hit with metal part.it was the wooden handle).NWO IS 2 SUCKY!
Sent in by SteveI think it was great. the WWF had to do something to get the fans to start watching again.
Sent in by BobHey BJ, I think last night was great. I like the Rock, but I think if you are going to do an angle you should go all out. I would like to see the NWO knock off each of the top superstars (ie. injure the Rock, have Stone Cold put in jail for awhile...). They would then use their power to run roughshod over the mid-carders. That would be cool to see some of the lessor used guys more. This would also give some of the other guys a chance to step up and make a name for themselves. Of course at some point down the road the superstars would come back though. What do you think?
Sent in by DanI think it only went to far in the believability department. They should have called it good with the hammer to the back of the head. I could even go as far as them pulling the Rock out of the ambulance and beating him some more, but the semi was to much for even a die-hard wrestling fan to take. It's bad enough when people are getting "hit" with sledge hammers, but now this! Why not just have them run over the stretcher with a steam-roller or shoot The Rock with a shot-gun? They (the writers) over did it. Period.
Sent in by JerryIt reminded me of the WCW days and why I quit watching WCW. The Rock/Hogan in the ring segment was great, but the ambulance segment was so bogus, I just turned the TV off and did not watch the rest of the show. In reading the Internet report, I am glad I didn't since the remaining matches seemed to suffer from the announcers being more involved in selling the ambulance segment. If the NWo does more talking than wrestling, it is a waste of time.
Sent in by NJM Right off the bat here, I've been involved in a total of four REAL car accidents. So, I know how bad a car crash can be, and it's not a pleasant experience. I've been rear ended in the first, the front bumper ripped clean off my car in the second, totaled my T-bird in the third, and had my passenger's side door smashed in on the fourth. I've been hit from all angles, and so, I can say that a car crash is nothing to be exploited. In films and television is fine becasue EVERYONE knows it's a stunt, fake, a ruse. But, when your aim is to make even ONE singular person believe it's real, it becomes rather sick. The entire ambulance smash scene of RAW was just far too over-the-top. I can understand the Rock needing time off for the "SCORPION KING" promotional tour, but this is just overly ridiculous. Yes, the nWo needed to get over as major heels, but there are other ways. I mean, in the old days, the nWo would spear people, head first, in the sides of trailers, beat on them with baseball bats, or various other gang mentality attacks. Now, it was already stated that the Rock sustained a concussion via the Undertaker on Smackdown about two weeks ago, and that he reported as NOT 100% recovered at NO WAY OUT. So, with the hammaer blow to the back of the Rock's head, they could say that he had a full relapse of the concussion. That would convincing keep him off TV for at least two weeks. Now, they wanted more from the nWo to really drive home the major heel factor. They could've jumped the ambulance, pulled the Rock out and bashed him up on the concrete or something. The WWF needed take 5 steps when 3 will do. They think that it has to so greatly EXTREME for it to work right. I mean, it actually hurt the rest of the show. No one was really into any match COMPLETELY. Barely anyone paid any attention to the Godfather/Booker T match, and the fan response wasn't at 100% for the Triple H/Angle match either. They did take it too far.
Sent in by ScottIt didn't even take 2 full shows for the whole NWO thing to become completely like it was in the WCW. All you have to do is substitute Austin for Goldberg and the Rock for Sting and they can use the same script. Pathetic. If Vince can't come up with newer, fresher ideas then I'm done watching. If I want reruns I'll watch network TV.
Sent in by Rickmy lord did they go to far?it was silly, silly i tell ya.it was the same ol same nwo skit, didnt they do the same thing with a hummer.old wcw story lines, way to much tv time wasted on them(hogan)running his mouth.all with no ties to the real world.to few matches and the ones we got had nothing to do with storyline.(RVD tagging w Edge why?)though it was a great match and i for one would have love to see more of it and less of Hogan and the match was lost with Ross going over and over what we just saw(wcw sh**)lets go back to wwf and leave the old NWO/WCW crap in the can
Sent in by RedSoxFanBudI dont think it went to far its a show god dam it All it is ,is a hight speed action show and if you dont like it you can go to hell because it it already air and i hope we see more things like it go nWo and WWF
Sent in by AnonymousTo tell you the truth, i think any angle that would make a person be thrown in jail for at least a few years (lighting UT on fire, Rikishi running down SC) are stupid and really show the ignorance of the people that watch wrestling. If you believe it you are lame, and for those that dont, it is a waste of good wrestling time, come on WWF lets at least keep the angles somewhat "real"
Sent in by HeatherI think we're all used to the theatrics of pro wrestling and I do my best as a parent to explain to my child that what they do is just a job. That the punches and kicks are just made to look real. Try explaining a simulated attempted murder!!!! Yeah, I think they went too far! D from Canada.
Sent in by SShore44It absolutely went too far.................not because I thought it was too violent, but because it is so unreal it's not even believable in wrestling terms. We are supposed to believe these guys (the NWO) are really trying to kill Rocky, and then Hogan took off like they were scared someone would see them, although the freakin camera was right there on them. Also, this spray painting the backs crap is old news.......I thought it was stupid (a bunch of grown men spray painting their victims, etc..) back when it was (way overused) in the WCW. It looks like to me the same angles are being used by the WWF that the WCW used (and in all honesty, the NWO angle was what made me completely quit watching WCW and go to WWF completely). I hope this tired ass angle doesn't last very long, but I'm afraid we are in for a loooooooooooooong drawn out ordeal.
Sent in by JimI think that this past RAW was better then No Way Out. I haven't seen a RAW this good in a long time. As for going to far everyone should know and if they don't that the Rock was not in the Ambulance when it was hit you have shows on tv that show car wreck's that are real so I don't think it went to far. But I'm sure some one will blame the WWF for their kid running over an Ambulance with a big truck.
Sent in by AnonymousThe ROCK/NWO segment probably did go to far, but it was probably needed! What I mean is that the WWF needed some real drama and a real story line because it is quite possible that JERICHO is the worst champion ever. His angle sucks so bad that the WWF needs this ROCK/NWO story line to carry Wrestlemania. Everyone knows they are going to make TRIPLE H a champion even though he does not deserve it (HE HAS NOT BEEN BACK LONG ENOUGH), what is sad about this is that him and JERICHO do not even have a story line to work off of. Then Kurt Angle and TRIPLE H had a few going but JERICHO holds the belts and his feud is with AUSTIN who he seems scared of. So where does this leave the fans watching boring PAY PER VIEWS like NO WAY OUY, which was real boring with predictable matches. They should of let RVD lose to GOLDUST create some real tension betweeen those two and honestly where is KANE in all of this THE BIG RED machine no one can beat him but yet he has no storyline!! The next best stroy line will be UNDERTAKER/ RIC FLAIR which will probably work because they have some tension brewing going into W18 it will probably go over good. LAST NOTE I am a ROCK fan! I was hurt to see him go out like that, but it was needed, a real story line, some real drama now what would be nice if the NWO went after TRIPLE H next NOW WE TALKING some good wrestling
Sent in by DaveFor the first time in quite awhile I was at the edge of my seat while watching RAW. Anyone who believes that the NWO went too far must have missed the NWO and their first run in WCW. I may not be a huge fan of Hogan/Hall/Nash, but anyone must admit they do know the business and they will bring in ratings for the WWF. I thought the whole angle was great. For anyone who thought Hogan really was going to do this by himself...SUCKERS
Sent in by Big DaveI think NWO and Rock angle was cool. The Stone Cold angle took to long and Flair should got him out of jail and cost Kurt Angle to loss but the Kurt Angle HHH was a good . and i would like to Flair and Undertaker WrestieMania sould be good and Booker T look nice and when is he going get his title push .
Sent in by MikeNo it didn't go too far. It's about time to get something interesting on the air. WWF programming has been stale for quite a while, so last night was a welcomed change.
Sent in by JasonI think there is still to much talk in the begining.Let the people wrestle not chat.NWO rules though and even if that ambulance thing was all fake and all that is NWO style I just hope that the Genetic Freak comes in to do more damage to the spoiled WWF wrestlers and show that WCW was hardcore.WWF fans thats just a taste of the black and white can do just wait to they start recruiting. That is just 2 SWEET.
Sent in by JohnI am not sure what your take is on the Raw we saw last night, but the group of 10 I watched it with all agreed that we may have seen the best Monday Night Raw in years. Watching Hogan and The Rock stand in the same ring together was history in the making, and we're definately not finished yet. WrestlemaniaX8 is sure to have one of the greatest matches of all time now headlining the event. Myself, along with 4 others, have had tickets for 3 months now, and these next few weeks are going to be torture waiting for the event. Never before has a Raw done so much to promote a future PPV. Nothing was taken too far, in my opinion, not even the ambulance scene. That was just classic nWo, and a way to heighten fan interest. Trust me, it worked. You'll see a surge in fan interest and ratings leading up to the big event on March 17th. It may be too soon to label Vince McMahon a genius, but I think he's done it again with the re-emergance of the nWo.
Sent in by MarshallNo, the WWF didn't take the NWO / ambulance angle too far (they need a good excuse to get the Rock off for a while anyway). I found it quite exciting and reminiscient of the old WCW / NWO days. The only mistake the WWF made was when the segment aired. It should have been the grand finale. I can't be the only who noticed how dead the crowd was for the rest of the night (I swear I heard some pin drops during the Booker T / Godfather match). Maybe it was just way-more-over than they thought it would be. For the first time since they flopped the Invasion, I'm actually excited about wrestling again. Now if they would just sign Scott Steiner and Goldberg (maybe even Jarrett) I'd be happier than a pig in shit.
Sent in by DaveDid the NWO/Rock angle go too far? I don't think it did. I think it was a good idea, if you consider that in WCW the NWO was all about wreaking havoc, jumping anybody at any time, using bats, pipes, shovels, etc., and having no mercy on anybody. This was just showing that the NWO has not changed their methods, and they are still "true to form". We were actually thinking, what would have been "going too far" and I thought what if they opened the ambulance doors and a pool of blood started running out, or they showed some of the "people's guts" being spilled, that would have been a little over the top. Or, if when the 2nd ambulance came and took "what was left" of the Rock away, if the 18 Wheeler would've came out of nowhere and plowed into that too, that would have been excessive, but I would have laughed my a** off anyway. Know what WAS going too far though? JR crying, boo hoo hooing about what happened to the Rock for about the last hour and 1/2 of the show, and basically ignoring what was going on in the ring, even if it was a really good match. Man he gets annoying sometimes. In closing, I'd like to say that Hogan looks so old now, that his face looks like a leather suitcase-but regardless, the NWO is ok with me because it's something we haven't seen in a while and it definitely spices up things a little bit. Thanks.
Sent in by Georgemy thoughts as raw as awhole is the nwo is going to sink wwf just like it sank wcw. hogan, hall, and nash are 3 no talent bums with no wrestling skill at all. vince is so stupid to bring them back as if he didn't know how lucky he was to be rid of them when they first left.i am a 45 year old man that has been watching wrestling for 39 years and that trio will probably turn me against the best sports entertainment in the world. no body want to see them for an hour of a 2 hour show. just wait , it wont be long the ratings will drop and vince will realize his mistake. my opinion if turnbuckle entertainment was on tv, i would see all the wrestling i would want to see.
Sent in by StoneColdbonafanI thought RAW this week was the best episode the WWF has put out in years. Did the Rock/NWO angle go to far? Na...I dont think so. It was no worse than when Stone Cold was run down with a car by Rikishi or When Angle threatened to throw Stone Cold over a bridge but instead threw him into a kiddie pool. The WWF needs to establish the NWO as heels. This was a perfect way to do so. NWO did just about every other thing heels can do to make people hate them while they were in WCW. Vince needed to establish the NWO as heels - this was the only way to truely get the point across.
Sent in by JasonI kind of agree with you that the rock/nwo segment did go a little too far, but I think that McMahon is trying to show that the nWo will go to any limits to destroy everything in their path. For the rest of raw more considerably the HHH/angle match I thought the match itself and HHH winning is totally stupid cuz no. 1 contendorship at wrestlemania is supposed to be special, it's not meant to be passed around like the neighborhood . I'm also sure that kurt angle will get back in the main event and it will be a triple threat match.
Sent in by JoshAs far as I am concerned... I thought it was great. I was really dissapointed at No Way Out when all they did was attack Austin... that was not the NWO of the past. Like when they used to powerbomb Eric Bishoiff when he was an announcer... off the stage and through tables. The Rock being hit by a tractor trailer... WAS GENIUS!!! And if parents are mad about it... what the hell are your kids doing up past 10 anyways??? Especially on a school night?? Anyone that was up past 10...is old enough to realalize that it was fake and a set up. Besides, to all you ROCK fans... if it wasn't for your idol going off to do movies instead of doing what he signs million of dollars to do, they wouldn't put him in angles like this where he won't show for days or weeks. I applaude Vince and the WWF writting team for this idea... it brought back the true NWO... made the WWF raitings go up... and made parents realize that children shouldn't be up after 10.
Sent in by Anonymousit went too far, if they really are gonna bring him back in four weeks........if wrestlemania was 8 weeks away then that would be more believable for the time rockl would need to heel.
Sent in by Tony4lifeThis Raw was probably the best one in a while. The nWo sure knows how to make an impact on a wrestling program. In my opinion, I don't think the Rock/nWo segment went too far. We all know The Rock is fine, and the WWF needs to do a lot to get their ratings back up. I'm sure Smackdown! is going to get high ratings after fans see what happened last night. The only problem I had with Raw is the Godfather match. Get rid of him, I say. His gimmick has run it's course, and pretty much no one likes him. Just a time waster I guess. Great show, and let's hope Smackdown! is just as good!
Sent in by Chris I personally feel it didn't go to far cause I have seen in the past in the wwf austin destroy vehicles with supposedly someone in them, I've seen the big show topple a vehicle over the edge of something onto something else that supposedly had a guy in it. So this is really nothing new to the WWF. The only difference is the announcers tried to portray it as being real and not part of the storylines. Instead of acting all overly disgusted or overly in suport of it they both acted like they didn't know what the hell ws going on. And of course you know they did, it's all part of the storyline. I personally felt it was a great storlyine. This gives rock his time off to do other stuff like promotion for the scorpion king, possibly any interviews for other stuff the wwf has for him. And also maybe and hopefully time to refresh his character and finally get some new catch phrases and lose the crappy ones he has had for so long that are getting quite boring now, imo. I personally feel that since their are a lot of rumors about who will join the nWo. Maybe they are gonna do some angle off this with the Rock joining them. Who knows.. there is no way this went to far when almost the exact same stuff in diff variations and possibly worse have happened in the past with Austin, Rock, and Triple H.
Sent in by Anonymousi thought it was just what the wwf needed to get Hogan & company over. That was a great display of how to bring a "new" heel into the fed and have the fans believe it and now we'll see Rocky and Hulk at WM. i love it
Sent in by GBrown I THOUGH WWF WENT ALITTLE TO FAR, ON THE SEGMENT. BUT YOU MUST UNDERSTAND OLD VINNY MUST SELL THE NWO CAUSE HE'S RUNNING OUT OF IDEALS AND BRAIN CELLS. I WRITTEN SEVERAL WRESTLING SITES AND I PREDICT THE NWO WILL DIE WITHIN 2-4 MONTHS (JULY) IF HOGAN WRESTLES PEOPLE WILL FALL ASLEEP DURING HIS MOVES, AND THE OTHER WRESTLER WILL HAVE TO STAND STILL. I RESPECT HOGAN AND HE HELP MAKE WRESTLING WANT IT IS, BUT HIS TIME IS OVER HE NEEDS TO BE A MANAGER OR A MOUTH PIECE AND LEAVE THE RING. NASH IS GOOD AND WOULD DO GOOD WITH HHH. HALL IS JUST A JERK ALL AROUND AND NEEDS TO GO WRESTLE IN SOMEONE'S BACK YARD. WWF NEEDS GOLDBERG, STIENER, KIDMAN, SID, IF THEY WANT RATINGS TO GO UP AND STAY UP. I PREDICT THAT THE RATING INCREASE WITH NWO WILL ONLY LAST THE 2-4 MONTHS!!!
Sent in by PadraicDefinately not, how can you say it went to far? You should know that the rock wasn't even in there when it got hit, they snuck him out the back. That was one of the best segments I have ever seen from the WWF, it showed "poisonous" the nWo is.
Sent in by Tim I think the nwo angle was lame, i mean not only was it too far fetched but it is starting to replay itself as the old nwo stuff of wcw. I mean coming out every night 3 on 1, beating someone up, spray painting them, and then doing more damage. Are we going to see this every night, cause if so i'm turning it off quick-it's getting too predictable.
Sent in by RustyBest TV I've ever seen I laughed my ass off through the whole thing
Sent in by The DagmanNo, they didn't go too far. That was a classic nWo bit. It was obvious that the Rock got out of the ambulance off-camera, so now he can play up the "injury", take off the next month to finish filming Scorpion King and come back at WrestleMania. It was the best bit the WWF has had on since Stone Cold and Booker went grocery shopping.
Sent in by Lit JoeI personally think that the WWF went a little over edge with the angle. It really took away from the remainder of the show. It shows when the GodFather came out with the Ladies and they weren't too interested in the match between him and Booker T and every match after that seemed to have lost the fans interest where they were too interesterd in what was taking place in the back with the Rock's situation. I think it was a poor rating's preformance and it probably will show when the ratings come out. I'm not saying that I don't like the angle the NWO is back, but if you go back to the WCW days were they invaded there, look at how big of a difference they made coming in one at a time compared to the way things are now... They've seemed to have lost a lot of excitement in the way they fued.. Maybe it's just I'm still a loyal WCW fan and I was just expecting something a little different, but I would've done the whole NWO thing a lot different from the way that it's going down right now....
Sent in by Brad WHey yo! First, just wanted to send some praise your way on the sweet site. I have used your site for solid news for the past 3-4 years. keep up the solid work. Now the rant, 1st my side of the argument is pro nWo. Little history: I took a long hiatus (5-7 years) from following wrestling until a friend invited me over to chug beer and watch a wcw ppv back in 97 or so. When I saw Hall, Nash and Hogan spray paint Sting and a few others I was addicted to the wrestling drug all over again. 8) Good stuff!! Anywho, once wcw fell apart, I lost all interest in watching wrestling once again and my wife had control of the tv again on Monday nights (if no football) and all was good in her world. Im not anti-WWF but alot of the wrestlers just dont appeal to me and I always felt that WCW (nWo years) had more of a blue-collar fell anyway but that's another rant. Ok, now the rant. I think the nWo angle is being played right. WWF had to introduce these guy and try to push them as major heals by having them attack the big stars. I think in the up coming weeks the stars (Austin, Rock) will get their revenge and justice will prevail (boo!). The whole ambulance scene was silly and unless you live under a "rock" you know that the people's champ was going to take time off to pushing his upcoming movie. Hence, the nWo provided a solution and come off as major heels. McMahon killed two birds with one stone. Was the whole scene overboard? Sure, but it wasn't any worse then the corporation/undertaker days when Undertaker would try to sacrifice Stephanie McMahon. Keep up the great work on the site!
Sent in by DougNo, this is the way it should be. It reminded me of the great days of the WCW/nWo when they ruled the wrestling Monday nights. I stopped watching wrestling after the WCW left. I am now watching again. For one reason. Hogan/Hall/Nash - and the N.W.O. 2 more things I would like to say. Big Poppa Pump is the only true nWo member. He never quit. He was 4-life. And with the return of Hogan. Is his Mark - Beefcake soon to come along as well ?
Sent in by GlenFirst of all I think the whole ambulence scene was way over done. A good beating would have been convincing enough, a hammer to the back of the neck, plus the way JR sold it was great, but then in old WCW fashion they had to go overboard, and it dragged on way too long. It took away from the other matches, typical NWO/WCW style. I hope this is not a sign of things to come. I really enjoyed the Rock/Hogan segment, it was close to being a classic moment as it comes. One thing, they fabricated the whole thing by literally announcing that is was a moment. JR reiterated that point over and over, just let the moment be the moment and not try to sell it. Let it be what it is going to be. Let the fans decide, don't decide for us. I was hoping to see more of Austin that night I guess he needed the night off early so they had him get arrested. I hope the Flair vs. Undertaker angle does not happen but I know it will. Flair was right by saying maybe ten years ago. Maybe even five years ago, but not now.
Sent in by LynchBeliNo i though that after making the NWO look like pussy's a no way out it was what they had to do I think it makes the show fresh and strong again since the news that the nwo was coming back was released the shows have all been strong from start to finish i'm not saying that it's because of hall nash and hogan but in response from the guys in the back who are worried about there jobs now but i think that the creative team has really got a bit of the stress off them now and are feeling better about the future and it shows now.
Sent in by CarlosFinally, it was a RAW episode that was full of emotions and excitement especially the ROCK and HOGAN confrontation. Damn, the crowd was really wild. I can't believe it, HOGAN still has a lot of fans. The WWF did a right thing in getting him back and at least give him the best way to go out into the sunset with a BANG! I bet he will become a face in the long run...just read his interview. Regarding the Rock attack..it was great...at least they really made it gruesome to give get some excuse when Rock will leave the WWF to do his Scorpion King promo...I hope on one episode though that Rocky comes and cut a promo in his Scorpion King get up. That would be cool.... The NWO is back with a vengeance baby....next the 4 horsemen.........Mr. Perfect (?), RVD(?), Kane(?) and Benoit(?).....cool! I don't see the reason for the Angle-HHH match. HHH wins rumble, loses his shot and then gets it back again.....make HHH a heel, he is better this way!!!!! Best, make HHH join NWO and HBK return.....
Sent in by JTYou know, that was a good show. Even my 5 year old who has been a Nash fan since he could say the words "Wolfpac in da house" told me after watching the beating of Rock that he hates Kevin Nash and loves Rock. Not since Nitro in its heyday have I felt so glued to the TV. No Way Out was a piece of Hulka crap(gotta love that line) but Raw tonight was a step in the right direction. However, if they job Hogan out to Rock just because, I will never watch WWF again. Hogan showed he can be as over as the biggest star today and hold his own. Hogan HAS to win at WMX8. nWo has never been better. Other thoughts... Having Austin arrested seemed thrown together and predictable, maybe have the nWo lay him out again and do a strecther job along with Rock and then we're talking. I hate those kind of things but it served its purpose I guess. Still too much Stephanie, when will they get a clue and get rid of her on air? Christian and Storm vs. the Hardys was ok, served no purpose, but it was the nWo's night. Why hasnt Flair shown any interest in what the nWo is doing? I swear if they pull the swerve and align Flair with the nWo, thus giving us back the "Dirtiest player in the game" I will drive to Conn and kiss Vinny Mac on the mouth. That would be great. No Vince on camera, always a good thing... The Undertaker and Flair could be interesting, but only if UT does the JOB. Flair now is beter then the UT ever. Mr Perfect and Kane? WTF? Why do I want to see that? Goldust/Regal vs. RVD/Edge, I think its good to have feuds that are starting to last longer and if they can somehow give us RVD vs. Edge @ WMX8 for the IC title through all this thats a plus. Finally Booker isnt a joke, even if it was against the not so talented or not so over anymore Godfather, at least it was a clean win. HHH vs Angle.. I called this last night as soon as the PPV was over. What they need to do with it though is have Jericho win at WMX8 if they do (See the part about driving to Conn) but lets see a show of hands, who thinks Jericho retains at mania? My point exactly... Overall I would give Raw tonight a Thumbs up minus for the Mr Perfect/Kane and Booker "only" getting a clean win over someone like Godfather.
Sent in by JoshuaThe Rock segment definitely went too far. By going so far with the angle it ruined the possibility of it being believable. It went to the point of being lame and over done. As far as Raw goes with the exception of a few good matches, I think the promos were over done, making the show less than spectacular. The nWo angle needs to be used differently than it was four years ago. There is no need to use it the same way since there is no competition.
Sent in by JasonFrankly, as No Way Out went off of the air on Sunday night, I was pissed. The opening segment featuring Hogan, Nash, and Hall, could have been truly worth it. If they were to deliver the same promos asking for a "chance" from the WWF Superstars and the fans, only to cause chaos match after match during the Pay Per View.....or even just inserting the Outsiders into the Tag Team Turmoil match.....or interfering in the Rock/Undertaker bout, I would have been satisfied. But for all the buildup, to see the three founding members of the NWO knocked down to the mat by Stone Cold alone.....was unsettling. I understand that in order to fit into the company, the three would have to face some semblance of humbling....but on their first night back in the company...I just don't understand the reasoning. Not to mention that the entirety of the Pay Per View was rife with missed spots, matches that seemed to go on forever, and three....count em.....three knocked out referees in the three main events.....the NWO could have made me forget about all of it. That show should have ended with the three standing over the fallen Stone Cold, NWO spraypainted on his back, and every person in the arena standing and cursing the names of Hogan, Hall, and Nash. I have to admit, as the show came to an end, I couldn't help but think if the WWF had botched the NWO the same way they botched the Invasion this past summer. Moving on to Raw. I had low expectations, but knew that if they were going to hold onto the casual wrestling fans that tuned into the pay per view or the next night's raw, they would have to about face. The 20-minute opening segment between Stone Cold and Angle was ridiculous...and the time could have been used more wisely on MIA wrestlers like The Hurricane, Big Show, or even the Cinderella-story tag champs, Spike and Tazz. Like the Pay Per View, the wrestling aspect of Raw saw way too many f--- ups by the performers. Then out came the immortal Hogan. This part of the telecast was above average, even though the ROCK of all people seems to be having trouble remembering his lines these days. When Hogan was Rock Bottomed.....I thought we had seen the NWO taken down yet another notch. As Rock left up the ramp, I pondered how long it would be until Virgil would once again be wearing the NWO black and white. Out come the Outsiders......and then the hammer.......and then the ambulance. Did they go too far? Yes. Did they need to? Yes. Too much stock was taken into this entire storyline for the NWO to look like a bunch of p------. To continue on this track....the NWO needs to have the fans absolutely loathe them. Which leads me to the question......why was Vince not at their side? To sum it all up.....No Way Out was a travesty.....Raw helped the WWF start to make up for it. And looking forward to the future...how will Hogan and Rock end their match at Wrestlemania? I don't think the match will end.....for three reasons. 1. Big 2. Poppa 3. Pump
Sent in by FadManFinally RAW has come back to be entertaining!!!
Sent in by CrystalJerky this is what made WWF beat WCW ratings and made WWF the better product you assclown!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let me tell you something brother Hogan better pass the torch to every WWF superstar before he get's to old to walk to the ring. PERIOD
Sent in by Sean Yes, I do believe it went too far tonight with the nWo bashing the ambulence the way it did; but not in the respect that you may think...See, we all know it's scripted, but we still love it. It's fun; it's our getaway from the real world. But I don't like it when they have an angle like that go that far, because they're basicaly throwing it in my face that it's not real. What I mean is that if something like that ever did happen in the parking lot tonight it would be all over the news, and everyone including non-wrestling fans would be talking about it. Not to mention the fact that what happened was a criminal act caught on tape; one that would be taken about as serious as a heart attack by law enforcement. If they do work the nWo facing charges into the story it will be short lived. Lou Albano's shock therapy face turn in the eighties was more believable.
Sent in by AnonymousWhy heck no it didnt. Im sorry, but am i the only one that realized how crappy and stale the wwf had been for the past year and a half, and finally tonight on raw, i actually stayed glued to the TV for the whole show, the Rock/nWo angle tonight was historic and great in my book. Had to be a huge ratings boost, this is what i enjoy seeing and have wanted to see since 1996. The nWo in the WWF equals great matches and great storyline. Got to admit some wrestling fans dreams came true tonight, for me seeing Hogan back is the greatest thing to ever happen.
Sent in by MikeNo.....I don't think so. I'm a big Rock fan, but I'd rather see him get the crap beat out of him rather than see Mae Young's sagging breasts. I still have nightmares about that. It's difficult to believe that the billionaire owner and CEO of a Fortune 500 company had a revalation one night about showing a 70 something year old woman's sagging boobies on TV. I know they were fake, but GAWD!!!!!! That's a bit off of the subject, but it was simply a comparison. The nWo are definitely going to get over bigtime as heels after this, but it remains to be seen what happens over time. One of the reasons so many people switched off WCW was that the same damn thing happened every night. Every episode ended with an nWo beatdown and Hogan spraypainting someone's back. They never got theirs. Let's hope Vince doesn't make the same mistake. But you can't put anything past Vinny Mac. I mean, hey, he DID bring back Goldust.......
Sent in by John SNo, I don't feel the NWO angle went too far. That is what the NWO does, it destroys it's enemies. At first I got worried about how the WWF would deal with the NWO story, especially after the rockbottom on Hogan. But when Hall and Nash showed up and with the help of Hollywood, put the Rock in his place I was satisfied. The ambulance scene I thought was very good at bringing back how the old NWO worked.
Sent in by IsraelWWF is committing PPV suicide by having Jericho involved with the Main Event. Jericho is just not a credible opponent. Watching A little punk like Jericho "beat'" physical specimens such as Steve Austin, the Rock or anyone except Spike Dudley is like imagining a midget field-goal kicker man-handling linebackers or defensive linemen in the NFL...JUST NOT BELIEVABLE!!!! I am not dumb I know it is all an act but the show should be at least a little believable!
Sent in by AnonymousIf anyone thinks that went to far they ought to stop watching wrestling. The NWO is the greatest angle of all time, one of their roles in wrestling is that they stop at pretty much nothing. Please let me know if someone honestly believes that the Rock was really in that destroyed meat wagon. *LLLLOOOLLLLL*
Sent in by JeremyI dont think they took it too far. This angle has been the most interesting thing to happen in wrestling for a while and I think they are doing a good job of putting the nWo over as the top heels in the business. I didnt expect them to take it that far and that is good cause I am sick of seeing everything that I expect to see. Wrestling needs an exciting storyline such as this one.
Sent in by RayDid it too far? Hell No!!!!!! They should have threw the Crock off a goddamn cliff.
Sent in by Evanhey Raw was good as alawys in my kind of town Chicago.... sorry I'm from there. The crowd was hot the whole night, as all the chicago fans alawys are. The angle with the Ambulance was stupid they should of left it with the 3 finishers, only reason they had him get "crushed" in the ambulance was beacuse the nWo is so popular. Although true nWo fans will stick with them because when u are nWo u are nWo for life:) I also hope that Lance bein on Raw wasn't a one time occurance they should have him on more often.
Sent in by Jim Well my with Raw is that after the NWO hit the Ambulance with truck and how serious the announcers acted it reminded of what happend with Owen. And kind of made their emotions from that night fake like they can turn on the sad faces time they want. They were acting so serious actually that they almost convinced me that something really happend. So yeah did they over do it, even the hammer in the back of the head was over doing it too actually. I think to get the NWO more over as a threat they need to cause more hell period but without going as far as they did tonight. Need attacks backstage and stuff like that too. They need to take over the show like they did on Nitro awhile after X-Pac/Syxx arrived. They need to wrestle before Wrestle Mania too, maybe not Hogan but at least the Outsiders should have a few tag matches before hand. Well anyway Raw was an alright show, Kane and Hennig put on a good match as well did HHH and Angle eventhough that after making the Royal Rumble win by HHH pointless they made Angle's win lastnight pointless too. Plus if just ordered the ppv to see HHH vs Angle you got sort of got ripped off the way I see it. It was a good show anyway, the rock/hogan comfrontation was great but the first NWO attack was more than enough already.
Sent in by AnonymousI thought that the angle with The Rock and the NWO went too far, but at the same timeit was predictable, that the Rock would get hurt. I could've sworn that Rock ran out the side and you could see him in the back when all those ambulance guys got out of the ambulance..I don't know for sure though cause I didn't record it...Everyone knows that the Rock needs time off for his movie, but a semi hitting an ambulance, it went too far and it was lame....Raw started off hilarious Austin gets funnier every week, and I was psyched to see the Hardy's and Lita back..it's about time...I can't wait to see what they say the Rocks "injuries" are on Smackdown...They should really give their viewers more credit, it was a lil too obvious.
Sent in by Robertno it did not go too far... the nWo ran over sid with a moster truck when he was in a car. Jericho smashed Chyna's hand with a hammer, Mark Henry got a blow job on the titantron... in my view that was the best segment raw has ever had... not to mention the funniest... I also found it funny how Hall got the biggest pop of the night as he set the rock up for the outsiders edge... one minute they are cheering for the rock the next minute they are egging on the nWo to beat the living crap out of him and have art class on him. Finally the Rock was humiliated badly... That was the best raw the WWF ever put together. the nWo is what made wrestling what it is today.. it made it popular.. it made its 6.0 and 7.0 ratings. and tonight we saw why.
Sent in by JamalHey! This is Jamal from NC. I never really participate in activities like the rantbag, but for this.. I can't refuse. HELL NO the WWF didn't go too far. Trust me. Once you see Stone Cold Steve Austin cruicified on national TV.. you can't go any further. Plus, I thought the WWF would screw up the nWo monster heel image and water them down.. I was wrong. They took their crown jewel and DESTROYED him tonight. It was and will be.. my fondest Raw Moment of all time. (I can't stand the Rock) Thanks for your time!
Sent in by Anonymousno, nothing is too far ith the nWo. im so happy the rock finally got what he deserved....nWo spraypainted on his back! nWo 4-Life! Ps. that was the best raw i haver ever seen.... not to mention the funnyest ever
