Rantbag for 03/27/01-03/30/01

The rantbag is a section where you get to tell TWNP and its visitors how you feel about wrestling. This section is not Q & A, if you have a wrestling related question, please go to the TWNP Mailbag. Send your rants to rantbag@TWNPNews.com.

For the launch of the rantbag, TWNP asked its visitors what they think about the WWF/WCW Sale.

From: Steve Lukosus/Steve Rawk former employee of TWNP

Rant: Vince McMahon and the WWF are now like Coca Cola. They have their main
focus, but they own other labels. WWF owns WCW and has a lot of ECW due to
Heyman, and Coke has Citra and many other drinks.

I should be saddened by the fact that WCW is no more and now it will be nothing but a variation of the WWF. But I'm not! Because the WCW that everyone loved has been dead for a long time. It's hard to explain. WWF is flashy, always has been. Vinnie Mac has always been a showman and has showed that through the talent he works with. But the truth of the matter is, if I were to pick between the WWF of today or WCW of the past; its a no brainer. WCW still is my promotion. It tapped into the soul of wrestling. It seemed as close to real as SPORTS ENTERAINMENT would allow. It was a totally different element of Wrestling then anything being showed by other promotions. But as I said, that WCW died along time ago. Now I just watch because I want to the see the stars I've come to like and hate do there thing. Under WWF, it won't be the same. But just because its not the same, doesn't mean it won't be enjoyable.

hey twnp... I'd just like to say that it'll be weird to see that mcmahon owns basically all of the wrestling world!!! I'd just like to say that it would be sweet to put the new wCw characters (nash, hall, terry taylor, stasiak, mike rotunda, jarrett, and rick steiner) back in the wwf gimmick match! i would like to see Debra and the wife beating jarrett together again... or maybe rick steiner with his wrestling head gear again!!! thanx for posting this! Twnpnews rocks!! P.s. one dream match would be the red rooster vs. the blue blazer if that would be possible... god bless owen!!

TWNP,
You guys are doing a great job. I feel that WWF purchasing WCW is the
worst thing that could have happened. First of all, Vince McMahon comes out
and romanticizes taking over WCW then has the audacity to rate WCW superstars
on RAW like he did. HELL NO. I have been a WCW fan for 8 years and i have
always fell towards the WCW side, i just enjoy the more traditional side of
wrestling. I saddens me even worse to think what will happen to WCW when the
Vince/Shane angle is done. We know where all the ECW stars are headed, along
with the dark match rejects and the "developmental talent". It is a sad end
to a great tradition of wrestling. Thanx for the memories WCW.

My opinion simply put, we have to wait and see what happens. Personally I am skeptical on the future of wrestling concerning WWF and WCW but a lot of readers claim to be long time wrestling fans and then come on here saying how stupid it is and I am especially talking about the guy who is 26 yrs old and has been watching wrestling for 17 yrs and says he found it sick that Vince McMahon was laughing on WCW's defeat. Its obvious Vince was in character and Vince is still playing the heel, if you have been watching wrestling for so long how come you didnt realize that!? I dont want to call you stupid or oblivious but that is exactly what you are. With that aside, if anyone knows anything about wrestling, it is expect the unexpected. Vince McMahon is a smart business man and I think he deserves a little more credit then he is getting because he would not have obtained WCW if he thought WCW was dead. Granted I do not know the future but since everyone is excited and taken back and some may act like stupid 26 yr olds, lets just see what happens, from where I sit, wrestling is going to be very very intersting in the year of 2001 -/\/\ /\ | |

Hi,

First of all I want to say That no matter what I will always think WCW is
the best, period end of story! The real reason WCW was unable to go on was
because of Turner. Ted Turner and the people he hired to run WCW like Brad
Seigel are trash and have no clue what so ever about Wrestling and they
didn't care what WCW did. WCW only had the two top rated shows on both
networks. To me Turner basically left WCW out to dry, they pulled the plug
on the shows and didn't seem to care one bit. I guess turner forgot how much
WCW/NWA wrestling helped him build his networks. Turner always held WCW
back, when Bishoff had WCW kicking the WWF's ass everybody in Turner wanted
to take credit and jump in on the bandwagon. And when that happen to many
people tried to take control of WCW and that was when Bishoff lost control.
Not to mention Turner canceling shows or moving shows to different days
because of that bullshit NBA playoffs crap. If you ask most people who know
things about other companies run by Turner you will find that there is a
trend. Most Companies run by Turner are run very poorly.
As for WWF buying WCW I am really bothered about WWF wanting to run WCW at
11 pm on Saturday's to me this is really burrying WCW. I understand that
Tnn had to find a timeslot for it but I'm sure they could have found a
better slot than that one where it is on a better day and closer to
primetime.
I really hate the WWF, although I use to watch it in the 80's and early
90's. WCW/NWA has always been the brand of wrestling that I have liked the
most to me the WWF can't compare. When Ric Flair cut his promo on Monday
night I felt like he was speaking from the heart and everything he said was
exactly how I feel. I am not really sure I can watch WCW anymore,
especially since I haven't watched WWF in about 4 years. I don't think I
can watch the WCW become WWF style of wrestling. I may watch the first
couple of times but not sure after that. I hope there are alot of wrestlers
from the WCW that decide not to sign with WWF. Really I hope they ALL just
look at VINCE right in the eyes and laugh. I know Sting won't go at least
I hope not. If there has been one person who remained loyal to WCW it has
been Sting and even though I absolutely love Booker T I wish there would
have been somewat Sting could have gone out on top as the WORLD CHAMP. I
know this is a long email. But I have been a wrestlign fan since I was
around 10 and Im 26 now.
One thing I would like to say is this all of you internet wrestling
reporters who are bias toward the WWF I am sick of everyone of you. All you
ever did was put down WCW and you all make me sick obviously you don't know
jack about real wrestling. It's just like all the fans the WWF has, most of
their fans are band wagon jumpers they are not true wrestling fans they just
like the WWF because it's flashy and popular. They don't know a dam thing
of how real wrestling is suppose to be. The WWF is the Jerry Springer of
wrestling and all that makes the WWF is CRAP. You want to know what a piece
of crap the WWF is just look at the way they handled the Owen Hart death.
Bret Hart and Owen Hart were totally screwed by the WWF and were shown no
thanks what so ever for all the hard work and success they brought to the
WWF. I loved the way Jeff Jarrett basically told the WWF to kiss his ass
and just walked out on them, they got what they deserved because Jeff is one
of the greats.
I hope people remember the way wrestling is suppose to be. I hope people
remember the Ric Flair's the Sting's, the Dusty Rhodes, the Bret Harts, the
Arn Anderson's, and Ronnie Garvin's. They are the life blood of Wrestling
and WCW/NWA will and always was the embodiment of wrestling.
I don't know how many people will read this or see this because of the
length and I apologize for it being so long. I want to personally thank
Sting, Ric Flair, Bret Hart, Jeff Jarrett, Booker T, Chris Benoit, Dean
Melanko, Arn Anderson, Ole Anderson, Lex Luger, Terry Funk, Dusty Rhodes,
Barry Windham and many other wrestlers that I could name. I am a huge fan
of everyone of you, you are all great performers and I can't tell you how
much I have enjoyed watching you all over the years. Thank you for the
ride! I know it sounds like I will be unable to watch wrestling and that is
true. I'm just not sure I can watch a piece of crap like VINCE destroy
something that has entertained me so much for so long.
Sincerely, Chad McGee

That was the best wrestling i have seen in years...it was great...i think
that wrestling is gonna be better than ever now that McMahon owns both the
WWF and WCW

Hi my name is craig terry and i have been watching wrestling since i was 9 and i wanted to comment on Vince Mcmahon buying WCW. I personally think it was a great investment for Vince because although i hate WCW, they have alot of great young talent that will be huge stars in the next 5 or 10 years. Also i think it was wise because by keeping WCW alive it gives the WWF some competition, seeing how ECW folded. And one last thing, i would really like to see vince fill the WCW roster with some ECW guys because i really wanna see Steve Corino, and Rob Van Dam back on TV.

Name: Dan Bucholtz

Comments:
1st off, I will be extremely upset if the WWF puts up crappy shows now that they are a monopoly. Hopefully, someone will pull thru and start a federation, and have some money to sign stars. On another note, Vince McMahon didn't build the WWF, Vince Russo did, and it is WCW's own fault that they went bankrupt. Russo had things going strong before he was fired for the first time. Things never really got on track when he was rehired.

I think McMahon will do a good job of providing great interest as many things could come out of it. Hopefully the most being that the WCW talent finally gets exploited for their great skills to get them in to stardom they deserve. I just hope the big names of WCW will decide to stay and see what is in store, and I hope Vince makes an effort to keep them because they definitely can draw and make impacts.
Thanks, Dustin

hey twnp,

Great reporting~ Well anyway. The current wwf/wcw situation can go two ways. Vince could be smart and give the people what they want to see, such as a WWF Vs WCW ppv. But he should keep most storylines seperate, maybe have a crossover every now and then. Or he could completely ruin the whole thing, buy letting current storylines drop and focusing all on uniting the two companies. Well it will be interesting to see what happens. One thing is for sure, the wrestling world just got a whole lot more interesting. I am still extremely thrilled with the potential.

WWFE purchasing WCW is the worst thing for the business. I am 26 years old and have been watching wrestling for about 17 years. After last night, I will longer be watching any wrestling program. It made me sick to hear Vince boast about WCW's defeat. Another one out.

Hello my name is Adam Randall from CT I feel that this purchase is the greatest thing to happen to both sides of Professional Wrestling. The WWF and WCW were becoming so repetitive in there angles and matches and now they can finally work together and build up in my mind the greatest
time to be a wrestling fan. This purchase can start a whole new great era in wrestling!

I have mixed feelings about the sale of WCW to WWF. I have been a fan of WCW from back in the late 70's when they showed it on WTBS Channel 17 the Superstation. I went through Piper, Andre, the Mongolian Stomper, the Minnesota Wrecking Crew, the Dangerous Alliance, Gordon Solie, Muta, Sting, the Four Horsemen, Ron Garvin, THE MULKEYS, and many others. WCW was MY fed. It always seemed easy to like the WWF. It was the chrome version of your favorite hot wheel. It was a scoop of ice cream WITH chocolate on top. WCW(NWA) was the thinking mans federation. It had the true heart and storyline that I loved. You actually believed that Arn Anderson was going to kill somebody for beating on Ric Flair. He sent chills up your spine like you had just witnessed a mafia hit and you were in deep trouble now. Yeah that hasn't been around lately, but tradition never dies. It was always in the air for me when I stood in attendance at PPVs and house shows. When I saw Sting, I remembered the marathon matches he had with Ric Flair. When I saw Anderson and Flair out, it reminded me that no one in that ring was safe.

Vince McMahon buying WCW saved it from the scrap heap, but it is kind of like having your deathly ill wife saved by a blood transfusion from the man who poisoned her in the first place. Yeah, he saved her, but he put her there in the first place. I am not saying Vince McMahon is the cause of all that is bad in wrestling(or the lack there of on some shows it seems) but he hasn't bothered to help it either. It was always hard to explain to people why I stayed loyal to WCW even when things looked bleak, but all I have to do is point back to those matches that fostered my love for wrestling and I have nothing more to explain. I am glad that WCW will live on in some form, but I am deeply sadened to see that it will be in the form of WWF Jr. It is only a matter of time before WCW becomes the training grounds for the "Big Show" of the WWF. That isn't my WCW. 14 Time "WHOOOOO" World Champion, now THAT is my WCW...and thank god I will always have that tradition in my head when I watch the "new" WCW. Nothing they do to it can ever take that away.

WCW is dead...
Long Live the new WCW.

i think wcw wrestlers are screwed, becasue vince now owns them and he can toss out guys that crossed him like bret hart or luger or even hogan, but the story cossovers could be awesome, picture dx againt nwo,the four hosremen and the mega powers, goldberg and austin or sting and HHH.I thinks they could do a lot of cool things that the fans would love to see,but i have a feeling thatyou will never see these great matche and vince will continue to push lame storylines and dissapoint us all

Name: Slug

Comments:
At first it seems like the best thing to happen to pro. wrestling, but what worries me is that vince and shane now have all the power, like who stays and who goes, if you want to be a big star you have to kiss their butt. What if they dont like you, well you cant go to another fedaration to be a star 'cause theres not any. No competion is a bad thing. And Vinces seems to have everything under control. If only ECW could have just held out I believe they would have made it.

Name: Ron

Comments:
I think that the wwf and wcw wars is going to be very interesting now since shane is running wcw but like jr said on a raw a while back never trust a mcmhanon and I just got a gut feeling that this whole thing is a setup.

I think its great. Its a fresh start in sports entertainment and if Vinnie Mac plays his cards right, this can be the beginning of a bigger dynasty the he already has. mad russian

I remember when Gordon Solie was on NWA's Georgia Championship
Wrestling on WTBS..My best friend had cable and it wasn't in my
neighborhood yet so we would spend those two hours every Saturday night
on the phone, him giving play-by-play and holding the phone to the t.v.
as guys worked hard and put on a great show..Some of those guys went on
to obscurity, while others went on to become wrestling heroes..
A few years later,I sat in the old Charlotte Coliseum with my future
wife when Dusty Rhodes shocked the wrestling world and brought out
Nikita Koloff as his mystery partner against the hated Andersons.A
moving moment put together for a fallen Magnum T.A..
I took my son when he was 2 to the new coliseum to see his first
wrestling show..I don't remember who was there, but you can be sure it
was a fun atmosphere, suitable for all fans, regardless of age..
Last night,WCW/NWA died..As I sat on my sofa with my wife, talking to
that same best friend 20 years later, with my son in the other room,we
reminisced about the past and the future..It won't be the same,it can't
be..Mr.McMahan,we liked WCW the way it used to be..If you can take it
there again,I hope you will..If it is to become another WWF,I would
prefer you just shut it down..I know it's only "sports
entertainment",but when something has been a part of your life for 36
years,it hurts when it's gone..Thank you WCW/NWA stars for the thrills
you gave us,and best of luck to you in the future..

Several years ago when Ted Turner bought WCW out under Vinnie Mac,Vinnie
took it hard at the time. Remember the skits he put on then. Now he
has won, but no one likes a sore winner. You don't kick a man when he is
down no matter what, but it must be alright if you are Vinnie Mac. His
remarks to the wrestlers from Hogan to Jerrett we uncalled for. Just
shows how mean spirited the man really is.
Us fans will be just fine, if he makes the WCW into another WWF they
will lose fans. It's could get to be to much of the Shane and Vinnie Mac
Show. Depends on how they handle it, only time will tell.
It's the wreslters I feel sorry for, the ones who have given the fans
so much, The Stings,Flairs....ect. They will have to accept what Vinnie
want to pay them or leave Natl. wrestling, Same with WWF talent. They
will have to work for Vinnie, under the conditions he wants or walk.
Wreslters and Fans lose.
Should Vinnie get in one of his moods and fire lets's say the Rock,
HHH, Austin where will they go? Indys most of us don't see, Japan very
few of us see. Fans lose again.
To much power corupts. Do WWF fans really think Vinnie is above
this? He now has a monpoly, let us hope we all can still enjoy
wrestling. Jackie Van

Hello. I can't believe it. Monday had to be one of the happiest days in my life as wrestling goes. This ranks up there with Hulk Hogans win at wrestlemania 3 and 5 and Stone Cold's win at wrestlemania 14. I've always wanted this to happen and now Vince controls all tallent! This is so great! I will enjoy wrestling even more now. Vince McMahon is a mastermind! He is
the best! This is WONDERFUL.

I think if the story line is true than this could be the greatest thing for westling in years and if they bring back these wrestlers such as Sting,
Goldberg , Nash, Hall, Hogan, Piper, Macho Man, DDP, Flair, Sid, and keep some of the ones they have now. just think of a match between Goldberg and Austin.

I dont mind the joining of the two, but to ehar WWF fans cheer for Goldberg after being down on him for so long they are just idiots. I cannot stand Goldberg now, and I wont then. The onyl people worth coming over are Flair for Mike skills, Scott Steiner, Sting since he still has moves and popularity, and a few of the young stars who deserve good writers.

But WWF fans are just pathetic for now cheering Goldberg.

Kevin,
Before I start my ranting on the whole WCW buyout situation, I got to say
thanks to you, great site buddy, y'all keep up the good work. So this is
where we've come to in wrestling? The biggest egomaniac in the world, owns
the greatest wrestling company in the world. And I guess the first Nitro
under Mcmahon control, would not be complete without seeing his face in
between every damn match. I feel like I've lost a true and dear friend. I
grew up watching the NWA of old, and continued to watch when it became
WCW. And now, Satan himself owns it. I had several problems with Nitro
last night, although it was the best Nitro since the beginning days of the
nWo. First, the show seemed rushed as hell. I don't think any match, not
including Sting-Flair which I will get to in a minute, lasted anywhere
near 10 minutes. Even the cruiser matches. But I guess the matches had to
be short, so as to let Mcmahon gloat about his new accuisition for 20
minutes at the end of the show. Second, I was digusted at all the cheap
shots that Mcmahon took at his ex-wrestlers, i.e. Jarrett, Dustin Rhodes,
and the cheap shot he took at Ted Turner with the whole Wrestlemania
contract signing. Third, and this one is for personal pleasure, not really
a problem with the show, the fact that Mcmahon made a complete and total
ass out of himself when he referred to TNN=Turner Network Television. And
there's the problems, and they all refer to one man, Vince Mcmahon. Now,
to the high points. Nitro last night was the most magical wrestling show
I'd seen in all my 21 years. It seemed that every guy was going out to the
ring and completely working his butt off. Maybe they were just making sure
they'd have a job when WCW comes back on the air, or maybe they just
wanted to give the fans one hell of a great last show. My personal belief
is the latter. The Sting-Flair match made the whole night complete for me.
I got goosebumps, it was like I was 10 again, watching the Clash of
Champions, or the Great American Bash. It truly was a magical 10 or 15
minutes to see Flair and Sting in the ring together again, on opposing
sides, for possibly the last time ever. I found myself balling in front of
my two buddies that I watch wrestling with, when Sting helped Flair up,
and they embraced. It truly was a magical moment. I actually liked the
whole simulcast on both networks. That was something we'd never seen
before, and something that we might see more of in the future. Be that as
it may, I can only hope that God himself has mercy on Vince Mcmahon's
soul, because he went and possibly ruined the wrestling business that he
helped create. Kevin, sorry if I got a little long-winded, but last night
was truly an emotional night for me, as I know it was for many fans. If
this is too long, and you can't post it, I completely understand, but at
least you've let me vent a litle on the whole situation while reminiscing
on the NWA/WCW that grew up loving. Keep up the good work buddy.

My name is Andy, and I am a long time fan of WWF. What Vince McMahon has
done recently buy aquiring WCW, is nothing short of brilliant. He has taken
out his competition! This is just the beginning and it can only get better.
I look forward to watching some WCW now. It was terrible before, their
angles and story lines were terrible, and Vince knew this. I think that
there are some great wrestlers in WCW, but they need better story lines and
better matches. With Vince and his writers in control we can expect just
that, better. Again, I look forward to seeing what happens.

For the wrestlers this is a travesty. Those that are not presently on good terms will be banished either to the Indies, or to Japan to do any wrestling at all. For the fans, I now see no escape if you do not like Mcmahons form of "entertainment". Nothing good has or will come of this.

Ok! I've read the post on TWNP titled "The Night I vomited etc...." and I'm
really mixed about it. I loved how he brought up the fact of Nash and Hogan
sitting home and being such jerks. I mean come on Nash did that interview
recently saying, "I'm sorry I'm so talented and reporters on the net are 5'5"
and don't get laid.......blah......blah........blah" and "I'll sit at home
and collect a paycheck I don't care!!!!". Oh then he goes on to say how much
passion he still has for the business. He's just a lazy chump with rickety
knees who couldn't cut the mustard with a chainsaw in hoops and now just
talks shit on the business and blames everyone else for his problems. If I
could say one thing to that guy it would be "YOU SUCK PAL."
However, I didn't much agree on his views dealing with McMahon ruining the
memory and the past of WCW. I feel as if Shane is going to make things right
and this angle of inter-promotional wrestling is what most wrestling fans
have wondered and dreamed about since the inception of the 2 organizations.
I remember when I was like 10 sitting around with my grandpa talking about
Wrestlemania one day being NWA(WCW) vs. WWF and now it's possible! The
history of WCW must come into play and won't be written off but used as a
vehicle to inspire a side to choose WWF or WCW. The way it was when Bischoff
ran it at it's peak. To bad Eric quit watching all those Japenese angles and
stealing from them otherwise he might have been able to do this. Shane, in
my eyes, was kind of a stain in WWF and really had no pull because you knew
Vince would always prevail. Now he seems to have a good amount of pull and
can be legitimate going head to head against vinny!
Hopefully, this angle will kick ass and revive wrestling but I'm hoping the
bashing will stop and we can all get behind this new era. Thanks for the
forum

The Most Fabulous Object

Hey,
While I could make my comments on the state of the
wrestling industry I will only make comments on how I
think the McMahons should run WCW. I am glad Jarret is
gone. I hope Nash, Bagwell, Luger, Rhodes(Dusty and
Dustin), Goldberg, and Stasiak get the boot too. I
think if Vince wants to keep WCW alive he will have to
get Sting, Flair, and DDP. These guys are WCW. How
long has Sting carried WCW on his back? Goldberg
didn't really do it. The match between Sting and Flair
was an awesome site on the last Nitro. That was a
classic WCW rivalry. As for Scott Steiner, while he
may mix up his words and be a big muscle head, he is a
good heel. I would say give him one chance and see
what happens.
The people in my opinion who could keep WCW alive
are Sting, Flair and DDP(these 3 of course), Kanyon,
Sanders, O'Haire, Palumbo, Jindrak, Reno(give the guy
a chance...another human wrecking machine in the
works), Kwee Wee(shave his head and replace the pink
with black...heel), Helms, Mysterio, Kidman, Kaz,
Yang, Storm, Awesome, Skipper, Smooth, Kid Romeo, Kid
Kash(Cash?), Jason Jett, Wright, Styles, Paris,
Guerro, and the Wall. What happened to Mike Modest and
Christopher Daniels(?)? Those guys put on a good match
or two and I think they could add some talent to the
WCW roster. It might just be me but I would like to
see Vampiro back as well. Team him with Gangrel? Well
if anyone has any comments on my opinions email me at
meanmugginloco@yahoo.com.
Thanks,
Travis

I think the angle that Shane owning WCW and Vince owning WWF is pretty cool. However I feel Vince should just pick up a few wrestlers from WCW and then trash the company. WCW was always a generic WWF anyways, take Flair, Bagwell, and a couple of other talents and kick the rest to the curb.

Name: Jörgen Stafrin

Comments:
I think WWF has taken a huge risk. This means that they have to be the best everytime, because if WWF in the future looses fans and now one is there to pick them up, the wrestling may be dead. I hope for McMahon and the wrestlings sake that an indipendent fed or a new fed is coming up soon or else it could be trouble. I also hope that Vince can put aside any old grudges that talents like Jeff Jarrett has said or that could be trouble. Nitro/RAW was surrealistic. I´d never thought i´d see Vince at a Nitro.

I think the purchase of WCW by WWF will be good for business for both
federations, but does certainly narrow the options for the wrestlers
themselves. Someone crosses Mr. McMahon, where does he go? Either in
the doghouse, or the independant federations across the nation.
Competition brings out the best from both parties.

Well, well, well,

I loved Vince's callousness towards the older WCW stars and the veiled
threats against Jarrett, Lex & Buff. They deserve it. The in-ring action
was top notch, but I fully expected to see a Jerry Lynn debut. No matter,
you guys study the pacing of the storylines much more than myself and it'll
all come in good time. Nice heat w/Rock giving SCSA the stunner. That
should make Smackdown! go from red to white hot!
Shane owning WCW is a great move, I just hope that he does not leave it
intact. We all know that some major renovations are needed and for those
plans to get shelved just to keep heat between the 2 McMahons would not be
conducive. The first hour of Nitro was the best booked hour in a long time,
(we are talking back when TNN carried wrestling on Friday nights!). The
emotionally charged Ric Flair diatribe, a decent, if not fitting world title
match (KEEP SCOTT STEINER, HE IS A FREAK!!!!) and then the true gold
standard of WCW, the cruiserweight division. I really hope that booking 2
of those style matches in the first hour right after the world title was a
loud message to viewers and to the workers. Hard in-ring work will carry
you far in the new WCW (also, could you guys please change the name; I was
really hoping for Paul Heyman & Tommy Dreamer to come on Nitro, spray paint
over "World" and write-in "Extreme", but what's a perfect world??).
Everything was really solid last nite and I believe that the drawing power
of the WWF has already been seen, just last nite at Nitro. The crowd looked
a bit sparse during the opening pyro, but by the time Booker T-Steiner was
done, the place seemed to be teeming. People in the vicinity were like,
what the hell is going on here, Vince McMahon on Nitro? Then with the help
of modern technology (ie cell phonez), they contacted their buddy who is
most in the know about professional wrestling and he told them that it was a
historic nite and they should not miss it. The internet marks are the best
promoters in the world!!!
Do not get overextended with WCW-WWF. Let this thing run its course.
Don't forget the ECW talent and do a great WrestleMania. I'm sure you
will...thanks alot guys for a great nite, and Mr. McMahon, by god, you have
moved a mountain. Now what do you do with your new view???

Peace,

Ryan Goodson

I think it stinks that WCW is now owned by the WWF. I hope that the rating for all TNT and TBS shows drop so low that Ted Turner has to sale more of his shows. I do believe that WCW doesn't stand a chance now of making a come back.

Last night's WCW Nitro will be the last Wrestling show I will ever watch. It's sad because I have been watching wrestling for over 45 years. I still remember when my father used to take me to the local live shows. Now all we can see is the Vince McMahon crap. If I wanted to watch o and unnecessary violence, I would tune in to some of the day time soap opera.

The only good thing that will come out of the WWF purchase of WCW is that I will no longer have to look at the human genetic freak and steroid abuser, Scott Steiner. I don't think that Vince will take the chance and employ someone who so blatantly misuses dangerous drugs. Vince has already had one brush with the law on this matter, and almost did jail time for it. I don't think that he will want to take the chance again.

I think this WWF/WCW deal is the greatest thing to happen to pro wrestling since the idea of Wrestlemania came about. This is great for wrestling fans and wrestlers worldwide. Kudos to the WWF and good luck!

Just a thought...WWF should scrap the WCW name and run the new company as
ECW, and bring in all the ECW wrestlers that are not yet part of another
federation. By putting on an ECW style program, it will give the fans some
variety and bring back the hardcore ECW fans. I don't think many people want
to see another WWF style show on top of what we already have. Let's see RVD
and Dreamer in the new ECW!

I think that the WWF's purchase of WCW just goes to prove one point and that is that Vince can not be stopped... I mean think about it in the early 90's the WWF was in danger of folding but Vince kept at it and now he is a huge power when it comes to wrestling. I feel that now the Gimmick match at Wrestlemania can include people like the red rooster, Diesel and Razor Ramon thanks

Well....it's certainly been a crazy week. I was saddened thinking WCW was going to have to close it's doors entirely and then BAM! Vinnie Mac swoops in to purchase WCW. I'm a huge fan of both WCW and WWF and can't wait to see the cross over angles that are going to be coming at us. Sure...they'll lose their luster after a while I'm sure, but by then hopefully WCW will have established itself as a very good federation. And with any luck this will open up some of the eyes of strictly WWF fans to the tremendous talent that WCW has in Sean O'Haire, Shane Helms, Billy Kidman, Yan, Kaz, etc.....At the same time I'm worried about the fates of some of the other wrestlers. This will definetely make it harder to get into the business I think. I guess time will tell. Keep up the good work at TWNP!!

Crazy this past week. WWF and WCW together???. I have a some question is WWF might consider to change WCW storylines? and I hear a lot of rumor that some WCW wrestler are going to WWF its that true? Right now I am so confuse.

I feel that in the beginning, this will create alot of excitement in the short term. But, I'm afraid that in the long run, this will just be another unfinished WCW storyline.

Honestly, I am a little sad that WCW is never going to be WCW again. The WWF's style in wrestling shows was different, WCW had a atmosphere, an ambience that the WWF could never achieve. Every time I wachted WWF shows, I missed the atmosphere WCW has. WCW had many many great moments that the WWF couldn't dream of. But I hope for WCW's sake, that Vince wil try to make WCW what it was. I started watching WCW in the their early days, but I became a true fan in 1995. Sinds then I watched each and every show they had. One thing is for sure, all true WCW fans will remember the company as the greatest wrestling organisation ever. But thanks to (you know who you are) ,WCW is in the hands of the WWF. Thank you WCW for all the great moments you gave us. And I wish the best for all the hard workers WCW had.

I think it's a good idea, not the new age wrestling took over the old age...we are like hardcore rap and WCW was like country, so we finally won, but i hope to keep it the same, because if Vince puts everyone together...it would be terrible, too many angles and too many gimmicks, i think wwf should get the crusierweights plus the natural born thirrlers, poppa pump and buff bagwell, other than that, keep wcw the same...I would like to see some matches like Undertaker vs. Sting, S. steiner vs. Kane...Stone Cold Vs. Goldberg...Rock vs Booker T and stuff like that, sao its a good idea i think

i have been a fan of wrestling for 20 years from the days of stampede wrestling to todays wrestling.just lately weve all seen the massive decline of wcw i mean they have true stars like bret hart for one and totally stuff up when he came across they should have used the heat and his anti american storyline to promote the organisation burt they didnt and squandered the best chance they had. with the sale of wcw to wwf the possibilities are amazing done right with one mcmahon in charge of each company we could be in line for the best angle of all time .its the thing dreams are made of first shane needs to make wcw believable again and put credibility back in to that division.make wrestlers into heroes dump some of the idiots and then start the wwf-wcw war with the swapping of talent and pop ups on each program while still keeping the identitys separate i think the sport will go higher than it is now imagine goldberg vs austin rock vs sting title for titlebut if he dont hell lose the biggest payday of his life and the most exciting of possibly all time for fans.signing off from nottingham england THE WRAGGSTER

It could be good or it could be bad.

If Vince runs it as a separate promotion letting shane have the control
over it it will be a success.

Also it will be interesting to see if Vince can turn around a company in
the toilet.

A tv deal is important as well if he gets the reported 11pm-1am time
slot on TNN on Saturdays.

I would like to see a 2 hr Saturday Morning show like WCW/NWA had in the
80's.

Dear TWNP,

I have been a wrestling fan for about 14 years now. And I have been a fan of both organizations. My personally feelings towards the WWF Vs WCW feud is this will be the biggest angle to ever take place in the history of wrestling. It will draw big business and give wrestling the shot in the arm that it needs. This angle is going to be great for each and every fan that ever dreamed of the matches where one companies guy could face the other. It is also good to hear Vince McMahon say that he doesn't just plan on scrapping WCW in a year or even two years. And that he wants to make it just as successful as the WWF.

Now on the other side of things this is going to be a darker period for the wrestlers in the business. They no longer have any leverage went it comes time to discuss contract extensions and if they do not want to do a certain angle. So in my humble opinion this angle is going to be great for the fans and bad for the wrestlers pockets.

I feel its both good and bad.
Good in the way it can create all those fantasy matches come true, and wrestling was dying a little,
and this is just what everybody needed, a boost.
The bad thing is that in a way it kills competition (if u considered wcw's last months that) and a lot of people will be sent from the wwf to wcw. Hopefully they wont make wcw the minor leagues.
But overall its exciting 2 me. peace JD

I personally think wrestling needs what has happened. WCW was dead anyway, it was burrying itself already, no one was interested in helping them out of the situation they put themselves in, and the old school style trying to be new school just wasn't happening. WWF was the only company interested and capable enough to take control ("we are in control" - nWo quote there), they could have just let WCW die, but they needed to purchase WCW to keep things fresh. WCW was great in it's day, but when you aren't getting the ratings, your not good enough, simple as that. WWF has been getting stale over the last couple of years, and it's needed something fresh, some new stars, some unseen matches that have been held back by having the two companies being seperate.

The Monday night wars can be a thing of nostalgia now, but a new episode is needed in wrestling. This is the shot in the arm wrestling needs now, how long it will last and wether McMahon will do the job right remains to be seen, but if it wasn't for WWF there wouldn't be a WCW in the first place + they could have just let WCW go out of business which would have been even worse than what's happened under the circumstances.

The way they played Vince as the total heel, and Shane as the saviour was very clever, it managed to achieve a lot of things - the shock factor of making fans think Vince was about to put WCW out of business, and the sympathy factor of making WCW the good guys. WWF cleverly rubbed salt into the wound only to then put WCW on a pedestal. The angle was false, but there you go.

It's not a great day for wrestling. The wrestlers now have to do what Vince
McMahon says.Or go wrestle on the independent circuit or maybe Japan. It'd a
very sad day for the wrestling world

HI,

MY NAME IS SERGIO, AND THE WAY I FEEL ABOUT THE
WHOLE WWF BUYING WCW IS I FEEL NOTHING BUT NEGATIVE
THOUGHTS TOWARD IT.
I MEAN HAVE BEEN A WRESTLING FAN FOREVER AND NOW I
FEEL SCREWED. I MEAN NOW WE ARE GOING TO HAVE TO WATCH
WHAT MCMAHON WANTS US TO WATCH IN THE WCW AS WELL. I
KNOW MCMAHON WILL NOT LET WCW SURPASS WWF. AND NOW
IT'S ONLY COMPETION WILL BE ITSELF AND THAT IS JUST
BS.
I MEAN I LOVE WRESTLING AT AT THE AGE OF 19 I WANT TO
GET INTO THE WRESTLING BUSINESS. I LOOK AT IT THIS
WAY, NOW THAT THERE IS NO REAL COMPETION FOR THE WWF
AS IN "ECW" OR "WCW" IT IS GOING TO BE X-TREMELY HARD
TO GET INTO THE BUSNIESS. NOW YOUR NOT GOING TO GET
INTO THE WRESTLING BUSINESS BY THE HARD WAY BUT BY
MCMAHON DECIDING YOUR WAY.
I FEEL TOTALLY BETRAYED I MEAN YEARS OF BEING A FAN
AND NOW TO THIS. FOR ONLY 1 REAL ORGANIZATION AND NO
COMPETION FOR IT, I DOUBT NO ONE WILL STEP TO THE
PLATE!!
IT IS GOING TO BE WAYYY HARDER FOR ANYONE TO GET INTO
THE WRESTLING BUSINESS NOW, SEEING HOW THERE IS NO
REAL COMPETION NOW. AND THERE ARENT GOING TO BE ALOT
OF DIFFERENT TOP QUALITY ORGANIZATIONS TO GET INTO BUT
JUST 1 NOW.
I PERSONALLY FEEL THAT AFTER ALL MY LIFETIME OF BEING
A FAN I CAN FINALLY SAY ITS JUST NOT WORTH IT ANYMORE.
IF ANYONE FEELS ANY DIFFERENT LET ME KNOW.
E-MAIL ME AT HOLLYWOOD_93930@YAHOO.COM
MAY COMPETITION FOR THE WRESTLING INDUSTRY R.I.P.!!
AND MAY THE OLD SCHOOL SPIRIT OF WRESTLING NEVER DIE!!
IM OUT,

SERGE

I have mixed feelings about Vince buying WcW out. I really felt the
glory days of wcw where in 1995- 1997 after those years the storys got real
old. I will miss those days but then again the shows have not been very
intresting and are far away in comparison to 1996. So I guess it could be
good for wcw, then again no competion means slacking off and boring plots.
So I guess we will see.

It was a good move on the part of the WWF to acquire WCW. WCW sold for an amount that couldn't be passed up. Also, for those who think that this marks the end of any competition to the WWF, wrong. Someone will start a new Wrestling show that will feature ths stars that the WWF won't sign. The WWF purchase of WCW will help us realize the inter-promotional matches we have always wanted to see. If the WWF didn't buy WCW who would have under the circumstances that WCW put themsleves into and what TNT did to WCW. Lighten up and have fun with it, there not effecting us one way or another. We still have to work and provide for our families, this is entertainment not reality.

Hello All
I Think Nitro Lastnigh Was What it Could Have Been All
Along...With The Exception Of The Bam Bam/Meat match boy did i turn from
that 1......Anywho..we Gt to see a Great/Comical Match w/ Sting &
Flair,The Tag Team Matches Both Were GREAT!.Hopefully That Was a sign Of
Things To Come. As For The WCW/WWF Joining Together i Think Its an
Amazing Opertunity For The Wrestling Fans i Mean who Wouldnt Want To see
a Booker T vs Rock Match Or Sting vs HHH Mcmahon Knows What needs to be
done To Make WCW Great Again & i Trust So Does His Creative Team I Look
For Great Things In The Future From The "NEW" Wcw .EXCEPT! the New Time
Slot 11pm til 1am On SATURDAY!!!!!!!!!! WTF!!! it Needs To Be Put On a
Norml Time Like 8 on Tuesdays or Fridays something were ppl Wouldnt
Have To Tape it or Something Hopefully Theyll Change The Time Well Thats
All 4 Now Thanx
Brock Sutton

I think this has to be the greatest buisiness deal in the history of the
world. If you look at it purely from a wrestling fan stand point, not a just
a WCW fan or just a WWF fan, we are going to see a couple of things.....
1) WCW is going to step it up a notch under WWFE control
2) Eventually we are going to see some of the greatest matches, if everyone
resigns.

This can only make for some of the best in recent history!!!!

Vince McMahon may have shot himself in the foot. WWF, can it survive without some sort of competition? I don't think so. WCW will never be the same. It is over as we know it. And I think Ted Turner & Time/Warner will regret selling WCW.

I think it's hilaroius that Vince owns WCW. Ted Turner was an overconfident prick, and it goes to show you that money won't always buy success. WCW would never have been anything anyway if they hadn't paid off WWF middle-aged has beens. They only had one thing that was really successful and that was the NWO. (you know, old wwf talent) Once that played out it was all over, the begining of the end. I don't want Vince to have a monopoly on the business, but I am glad that WCW is out of the picture.

i think wcw had a great show and with Shane as the Owner? in character wcw
will kickass but wwf still has the best wrestlers great shows last night

Sting vs Flair was the best match
Shane should ge thte pop of the night
