Rantbag for 04/02/01

Remember, if you have any rants, send them out to rantbag@TWNPNews.com. Your emails will be posted here within 1-5 days usually, depending on when enough rants are sent.
Also remember, you will not get any responses from these, if you want to ask a wrestling related question, please use our Mailbag/Q & A where your question will be answered, but within 1-2 weeks.

For this week, TWNP asked its visitors on what they thought of WrestleMania 17

On with the rants

I think the King is a fool for posting up the letter he sent to McMahon
and immediately making the situation of his exit from the WWF known to
the whole Internet wrestling community.

How does he expect to be taken back now?. What the WWF did is wrong,
and he and Kat should still be there, but the way he has conducted
himself throughout this situation has only surely hurt his and Kat's
chances of getting back into the WWF, especially with the recent
bitching on Chyna.

He should have waited longer than he has before letting the public know
what had happened, and contacted Vince constantly behind closed doors.
Instead, only a few days after he was released almost everyone knew what
had basically happened.

Now this letter is out, I'm sure Vince will view this as being
unprofessional conduct. Compare this to Mean Gene, no one seems to know
what's going on with him, then suddenly he's reported to be back with
the WWF. If Lawler is suppose to be McMahon's "friend", why did he go
running off, telling everyone what McMahon did to Kat so quickly?

I may be ignorant, but I think he's made the very situation he's
complaining about worse for himself with such unprofessional conduct.

I hope everyone who visits twnpnews.com would read this. I know alot of
people think the wwf/wcw deal is a bad one but had Vince not bought wcw
they would have gone under anyway! Turner sure as hell was not going to
keep wcw and let them stink up his channel ratings and fuscient media
backed out of their deal with wcw. At least there is a simulated
competition between the two and they will , I repeat WILL be kept two
different federations and Vince is smart enough not to give us our dream
matches we all want to see. The longer he holds off the interest and
ratings will go up in anticipation will reach a boiling point and then
the ppv revenue will set unbelievable highs. WCW wrestlers can now be
marketed correctly and Vince can show them the way. Shane owning wcw is
good because he can get a feel for running a promotion so he can handle
the wwf when it is passed on to him. WCW wrestlers won't be jobbed out
to wwf competitors Vince will give an equal opportunity to them because
it makes for better buy rates and Vince is a very intelligent man when
it comes to money and biasness. WCW fans need to stop worrying and I am
disappointed at BJ Bethel. Usually his reports are on the money and
great but he is letting this whole thing work him up too much. I read
"the night I vomited on my tv". Come on man I know your a big wcw fan
but you must see that alot of good can and will come of this. "Well,
hell officially has froze over."-BJ Bethel, seriously you are too worked
up over this or would you rather wcw capsize since no one would buy them
away from Turner at least Vince will help them more then anyone could
before.I like both federations and would hate to see either one go under
but it was a good thing Vince bought the wcw. I hope you can calm down
along with the rest of the wcw fans and see the best is yet to come!

No WCW stars, what a f**king waste. All that hype for only an average PPV.

Austin is a heel!?!?!? The angles are going to kick ass now. Austin/McMahon together at last? Who would have thought it??? All in all, the matches were good. The Gimmick Battle Royal sucked! A complete waste of five minutes. Who's damn idea was that? Trips and the Taker was incredible. TLC2 was actually better than the first one...and I didn't think that was possible. If not the best WM ever, this was in the top 2 or 3...but I personally think it was the best ever.

I thought overrall the matches were solid. The Benoit/Angle, TLC, UT/HHH and Austin/Rock match were all very good matches.... The only thing I dont like is that they ended WrestleMania with starting a new angle between Austin and Vince. WrestleMania is supposed to be the BIG PPV to settle feuds..... They shouldnt use it to get people to watch Raw... Hell, Raw is the only show around so people have no choice to watch... I enjoyed the PPV and the Astrodome looked awesome. I hope they have all WrestleMania's in domes like that. It should be different than just an ordinary PPV. Peace.

i thought it was good but they should have had famous star or group sing
the star spangled banner in the beggining like boyz to men or ray
charles and had america video vignettes. There was also alot of visible
talking by the wrestlers but overall it was a good show but poor billy
gunn and lo down get put in the doghouse while 80 year odls wwith bad
gimmicks from the past got to compete while they just sat in the back
and wrestled in the chef boyardee arena.
BiggD275

I thought it was awesome. Benoit Angle was great but the ending sucked.
TLC 2 was incredible. ANd austin turning heel was the best thing to
happen in a long time.

4.5/5.0 rating i give.

you want to know what i think of wrestlemania? Here's what i thought of the
GREATEST show on earth. On Sunday night, it lived up to its name becasue it
truely was a great show. Especially the main event. I haven't seen a match
like that in a LONG time. It was great, it was entertaining, it was even
refreshing to see a REAL match for once. The WWF proved that they're still
able to put on a great WRESTLING show and they proved it really well
tonight. I was starting to get bored of the wwf with their lame storylines
as of late. Now though, if they start making more PPV's like this, I'm a
fan again. And I GUARANTEE IT!!!!! LONG LIVE THE WWF!!!!!
-ERic-

I thought Wrestlemania was a rush. it started slow like all PPV's do but one
it hit the McManhon match, everything went sky high. The TLC match was
increible. Those guys should make more money then anyone else for what they
do. Shane's across the ring drop kick was a thing of beauty. And you cant say
enough about the Austin vs. Rock match. Overall, i give it a big A+.
Thanks

Don

This was one of the best WWF PPV's I have seen in a long time, and I've been
watching them for a long time. The night started off a little lackluster,
with some of the undercard not looking very solid and not coming across
smooth during matches, ie Tazz/Acolytes vs RTC, Test vs Guerrero, and the
Women's Championship match. As the night progressed however I found myself
marking out. especially as Benoit and Angle mat wrestled each other to
standing ovations, which I thought wouldn't get over with the "new" hardcore
breed of WWF marks in the crowd. Shane McMahon thoroughly impressed me as
well with his dive to the outside and his unbelieveable springboard dropkick
across the ring, the boy has skill in and out of the ring. Next came the
greatest 6 guys probably ever assembled in one ring for TLC 2, and they did
not disappoint in any way, shape, or form. I could never get sick of seeing E
& C vs the Hardy vs the Dudleyz, ever. No comment on the gimmick battle royal
except for the sheer fact that it was horrible. At last, the main event, and
even though I hate both combatants, I was looking forward to it. Intefference
from Vinnie Mac, chairs, tables, ring bells, blood and something I thought
would never happen as long as I would live on this planet. Stone Cold
finally, after 4 long years of all the bullcrap of Stone Cold Steve Austin,
it's finally over, I will finally be able to stand him again because he made
his heel turn! Too bad all those Texas hicks cheered for his no talent ass
anyways. All in all, a great WrestleMania.

WRESTLEMANIA WAS GOOD. A LOT OF THINGS CAN BE DONE FROM THE RESULTS.

THE TEST VS. GUERRERO MATCH WAS BORING AND SO WAS CHYNA VS. IVORY.

THE REST WERE PRETTY TIGHT.

I AM STILL WONDERING WERE PETE ROSE WAS, WCW RUN IN'S, OR HBK OR A LOT OF
OTHER POSSIBLE RUN-IN'S (EX. HARDCORE MATCH COULD HAVE SAW BLACKMON OR
SOMEONE ELSE RUN IN)

NO T & A (YES AS A MALE I WAS LOOKING FOR SOME)

THE TLC II MATCH WAS JUST RIGHT.

ALL IN ALL A GOOD ONE AND I LOOK FORWARD TO RAW.
(I STILL WANTED THE ROCK TO WIN!! AT LEAST THE TAKER BEAT HHH'S AZZ THOUGH.)

It was really a great event--Thanks to the return of Bobby Heenan!
Thank God the Brain is back where he belongs(and thanks to everyone who
signed my petition)! The swerve at the end was great too but I wish
Shawn Michaels would've showed up and that the battle royal didn't go by
so fast. I was also hoping for a surprise participant and Ludvig Borga
to come out when Nikolai came out!(Same music). Overall though, a great
event! Well worth 40.00.

I thought that this years Wrestlemania was great. Glad to see the rattle
snake win the belt, thought the match with Vince and Shane was great! OH MY
GOD SHANE O MAC! You prove yourself over and over that you can wrestle a
good match. The bumps this kid takes is awesome!

IT SUCKED,I'VE BEEM WATCHING WRASSLIN FOR 30 YEARS.THERE WAS NO SUPRISES (PETE ROSE WAS A NO SHOW) NO WCW(EXCEPT FOR THE SEATS THEY HAD ON THE TOP OF THE DOME)THE WORST SHOW IN YEARS.THE BEST PART WAS REGAL'S CHEST AFTER THE JERICHO SMACK'S.I LIVE IN PGH & EVERYONE STILL THINKS ANGLE IS AN ASS.....BRING ON THE WCW WAR....GARY LANNING DRAVOSBURG...PA

I thought this was one of the best PPVs of all time and Im being totally honest, every match was real real good....specially Rock-Austin, had so much drama & excitement, it defnitely lived up to the hype it deserved! Austin & McMahon together is great, something new, something interesting and Lets Go Austin!!!!

This was one of the most enjoyable wrestlemanias ever
from tlc2 to benoit/angle to rock/stonecold their was only a few
dissapointments that being chyna wrestled and they had regal/jericho start
the show instead of being higher on the card. The gimmick battle royal was
amusing but if its just for a good laugh it should of been earlier on the
card i was hoping for hogan or a real good legend to show up so i got let
down but hearing the crowd boo rockys sorry ass was a delight they made him
out to be superman but in the end austin probably wont be a bad guy i think
vince gauranteed him the title if he helped him against shane and wcw or he
took debra hostage backstage.AND PEOPLE WERE SAYING THE WWF WAS GETTING STALE
I GIVE WRESTLEMANIA AN A+

THANKS,KEVIN

thanks,kevin

Well, i have to say it's the best WWF evet i've ever seen. My only complaint
is how it ended but i'm sure there's more to it than meets the eye, as
always.

First let me start off by saying I have been a wrestling fan for almost 18
years now, since I was 4 years old, and I have seen/owned every Wrestlemania
that has taken place. This WM will go down as one of the best ever in my
book. There was one drawback I will mention right now: there was no need to
make it a 4 hour event. They could have eliminated a few of the matches, and
they would have been left with, in my estimation, the best 3 hour PPV in the
history of the WWF. Other than that, absolutely tremendous. The Battle
Royal, to me, was great: not so much for the action that took place, but for
the nostalgic trip back in time for wrestling fans of the past 2 decades.
Shane McMahon continues to impress me everytime he steps into the ring. The
Triple Threat Hardcore Match delivered big-time in my book. TLC 2 was
nothing short of a classic. All 6 men, and even the 3 respective affiliates
of the 3 tag-teams involved, made that match well worth the $40 alone.
Angle/Benoit saw 2 of the best technical wrestlers we'll ever get to see in
the ring together in our lifetime. Undertaker/HHH put on a tremendous show,
and to think HHH decided to do the jobb to the aging Undertaker in his home
state showed tremendous class. And finally, we get to Austin/The Rock.
Never before have I gotten so emotionally involved in a match in my life.
The ups and downs were enough to make somebody pass out; and add the element
of Austin/Vince McMahon alligning themselves just adds to the drama. (You
heard this here first: Austin just used Vince at WM to get the title...no
way this is a full-blown heel turn. We'll see Austin turn back on Vince very
shortly). To sum up: anyone who felt this PPV was anything short of
spectacular is not a fan of sports entertainment. Whatever you may be
looking for in the WWF, they obviously cannot deliver for you, because
Wrestlemania 17 will go down as one of the greatest ever.

Dear TWNP,

For the most part, I thought WrestleMania was a very good pay per
view. The show began slightly slow unfortunately. It finally picked up
during the TLC match, which I must say was also awesome.

Another thing I did not like about WrestleMania was the lack of
"prestige" one would expect from the "biggest even in the business."
There were no famous stars there, with the exception of two Houston
Astros: Jeff Bagwell and Moises Alou. Of course... these are just
baseball players. What I really wanted to see were big-breasted
super-models and over-weight actors.

The gimmick match was not what I anticipated at all. It ended to
quickly, with the most unlikely winner of all. I was hoping maybe
Earthquake would win. I think he'd still be cool in the WWF. When his
music started... I was pumped before I even realized who it was... and
then I was wowed! It was also nice to see Bobby "The Brain" Heenan and
Gene Oakerland back in the WWF. Seeing the old gimmicks, and hearing
the old familiar voices on the TV.... brought back memories.

Finally, the ending of the pay per view was a great ending. Though
they tried to turn Austin heel, I like him even more now. This is the
Stone Cold we've all been missing... and evil and extreme Stone Cold.
Ever since he adopted the babyface good guy image, he's lost his edge.
It was awesome to see him go nuts on the Rock with all those visibly
fake chair shots! This match was totally awesome, and I marked out
seeing Austin and McMahon together. We don't know the story behind
this... even if there is one.... but this could definitely be the
beginning of the WWF's infrastructure of loyalists against WCW. I hope
they do not rush into the WWF vs. WCW stuff.... and I hope they take
their time.... maybe giving it a climax in 6 - 8 months??? I don't
know... but we're in for a heck of a ride!

Just my thoughts! Peace and God bless.

In Christ,
Tommy Brents

There is no way in hell that fans will give Austin heat. When ever his music hits fans get up out of their seats and cheer him. I don't think this will change at all. Austin will always get he same reaction from me that I gave him at the begining of this match tonight. Biggi

Wrestlemania X-7 has come and gone. And I will say one thing. Big improvement
on last year, however, the ending sucked. Rock/Austin should not have ended
that way. Fine, let one of them turn heel, you knew it had to happen. But to
have Vince stick his nose in, and have Austin win with a few chair shots just
wasn't right. The night on a whole was very solid. I was really surprised by
how much of a disappointing match benoit and angle put on. But every die hard
fan had to love the gimmick match. If not for the introductions of all these
heros and villians of time past, then for the fact Heenan and Okerlund called
it all. That was pure magic right there. By far the highlight of the evening.
Best match: HHH and Undertaker. Great Pure match, best of the night by far.
The hardcore match really surprised me. Turned out a lot better than I ever
expected. Like I said, on a whole great pay per view, I give it about a b/b+.

Top to bottom a very solid card. All the matches were great and the 67,925
in attendance made it just some much better. It had the Wrestlemania feeling
to it that had been missing since WM XIV. The gimmick battle royal with Mean
Gene and Bobby "the Brain" Heenan commentating was very nostalgic for me. I
was a little misty eyed remember watching Wrestlemania as a kid. The Rock
finally got what he deserved because he forgot, "Dont Trust Anybody"!! Stone
Cold is the man and we should get some great new things from him and Vince
being united. Rock should just go off and be in movies, his act is so tired
it makes me sick. Anyway, a great show with great matches and great drama.
Once again, it had that Wrestlemania feeling!!!!

-John

I enjoyed the show! Who would have thought that the biggest spot would
be Shano-Mac? Actually that honor would go to Jeff Hardy. Twice! Once
for the spear by Edge and the other for the swan-ton. It was cool to
see some of the WCW guys in attendance. The main event was great! You
know that whenever good old JR calls someone a "son-of-a-bitch" that
they've done a good job as a heal.
Best matches:

1. TLC II. These guys deserve some kind of reward. I think Spike
might be dead. I still don't understand Rhyno's relationship with Edge
& Christian. Who care's though! They work well together.

2. Rock vs. Austin. Great match, but not as many high spots as TLC II.
I was surprised at how some of the crowd seemed to turn for Rock
towards the end. Most of the crowd stayed loyal to the rattlesnake
though. Maybe Stone Cold should change his name to George W. Austin?

3. 'Taker vs. HHH. "Holy shit...holy shit..." "nuff said! Although I
ranked this match third, it may have had the best finish.

Biggest let downs.

1. I was not really impressed with Guerro's performance. He didn't
look very focused to me. Test, who looked good, hanging from the ropes
by his foot could have been cool,. but Eddie made it seem awkward. Good
pop for Saturn when he got him loose. Maybe Perry Saturn should have
had a match?

2. I'm not asking for miracles here, but I was really hoping for a
run-in by a wcw guy. I know that Wrestlemania is all WWF, but given the
events in the past few weeks, it would have been freaking huge!
Imagine: Goldberg spearing HHH. Booker T axe kicking Angle. The pop
would have been louder than a Who concert! I'm sure things like this
were considered, and there is tons of politics involved, but one little
cheap shot isn't to much to ask for. I still have Raw though!

3. The gimmick battle royal was cool. It was great seeing some
familiar faces. But the Iron Sheik? I would have given it to Hillbilly
Jim who was in by far the best shape.
Overall it was a great show. The next few weeks and the debut of WCW on
TNN will be huge. Let's hope Vinnie doesn't get to cocky. Good luck to
Shane, who might be the best wrestler in WCW right now. :) See ya
later and keep up the good work on a great website!

I ordered the Pay-per-View and was impressed with it. I would have
like to see the Rock win but there appeared to be alot of story
potential in the event.
Not too bad at all.

John

I think Wrestlemania was a VERY good show, some of the matches seemed to
start so slow though. One of the biggest dissapointments I though was
that those FAGGOTS Edge and Christian got the titles AGAIN, right now
they don't deserve it (what is it 7x champs in ONE year?). The match
itself seemed to be only like 10-15 mintues long, I like last years
more, Spike was more active in this match then Edge and Christian. I
knew Austin would go heel and even though I like him alot I'm glad that
this happend because I'm getting really bored of HHH vs everyone. I
thought the ending of the match could have been better though. All in
all... Not what I expected.

So Austin turned ultimate heel........interesting twist, but he was
definitely the focal point of the PPV. He was getting a helluva lot
louder cheers than the Rock was. I will say that I know Vince has
something up his sleeve because he's not going to watch the his most
loved wrestler turn heel and end up looking like Goldberg did when he
turned heel. It didn't work. I hope this does. I for one think it's a
bad idea, but hey, bad ideas add interesting plot twists......if worked
right.

Undertaker over HHH. I thought Taker was thinking of retiring soon. I
thought this would be his way of "passing the torch" to HHH. OR they're
trying to say that HHH is not the badass he thinks he is ("I've beaten
every WWF superstar".....no you haven't buddy) Well they could either
end this here (doubtable) or extend it through to add someone else to
the fray. No real comment on this issue.

Iron Sheik wins the Battle Royal. Makes sense, he was my pick. He and
Slaughter are the only two of the group to hold the WWF title. I don't
know why I picked him over Slaughter. They're both old and it was just
supposed to be comical anyway. Next.

Shane over Vince. Impressive. WCW beats WWF, sort of. Linda waking up
and de-nadding her hubbie was cool. Now we have sides. Vince and Steph
and Trish vs. Shane and Linda (maybe Marissa will get involved on her
hubbie's side........doubt it) Well where was the WCW invasion. Some
people in a skybox don't qualify. Could've been cooler Vince!

E&C win with Rhyno help. Not a good ending. Where was Jerry Lynn for
the Hardyz? Or somebody? Lita doesn't count. Granted she can do flips
and stuff, but her real place is to get the fans up (she does have a
great bod) What could've been cool to see is Lynn come out on Smackdown
this past Thursday with the Hardyz and have Kaientai come out, only to
catch a major ass-whuppin. Then have Tajiri come out with them and it
could've set up a Four Corners 3-Man Team TLC II match with the 3
Dudleyz, E&C and Rhyno, Hardyz and Lynn, and Kaientai and Tajiri.
Kaientai have been receiving pretty good heat lately and they could've
added to this match, even if they might not be able to take bumps like
the others. Well, it's ok

Jericho over Regal. Why was this match first? I thought it was one of
the features. Oh well, put Jericho over I guess, but not at the bottom
of the card. And I thought he was being moved closer to main event
status? Why didn't he drop the title via some interference or a cheap
win by Regal. Could've worked. Oh well, maybe it will happen.

Angle over Benoit. A great matchup with a shitty ending. You want to
know who's the best technical wrestler and you have a great technical
fight at the biggest event of the year, and Angle wins off of grabbing
the tights in a rollup?!? WTF?!?!??!?! Using the old line "WHO BOOKED
THIS CRAP?" I hope there is more to this story than that. Why a stupid
ending at Wrestlemania? To build up Backlash......COME ON! Oh well,
Benoit gets no respect in wrestling, plain and simple. He could be the
leader right now, but he's losing like this. Dumb move, Vince.

Kane wins the Hardcore Title. Did I hear that right? Did Jim Ross say
Kane was the "future of wrestling"? What the hell has he been before?
Oh yeah, he already won the WWF title, but now that he's in a hardcore
match (which is usually reserved for the not-so-talented people to get
over with the fans) wrestling for a busted up old WWF belt, he's the
future? Come on. Give him a little credit dammit! Kane's a badass and
if he wasn't already trying to forward a feud with Big Show, he
shouldn't have been in something like this. He's established. The
Hardcore title is a step down for Kane. I know Big Show used to be the
WWF champ too, and he was the Hardcore champ, but he was mauling guys
and doing something different (pinning Essa Rios up against a wall)
He's not as over with the fans as Kane is. When the flames hit, people
know an ass kicking contest is going to start. When the Big Show was
the WWF champ, he didn't do as good a job with it. Another not too
smart move, Vince. Should've put over Raven huge in this one. He's got
the potential.

Eddie over Test. Ho-hum. Saturn interferes. Ho-hum. European Title.
Ho-hum. Next match.

Chyna over Ivory. I hate that bitch Ivory. Worse actor than Hogan.
Thank god for Chyna. Give the Women's belt a little more
prestige......or something. Damn Ivory should be fired. I mean Jackie
sucks, but she's even better than Ivory. Nothing against Jackie
personally (she can wrestle and all) but my comparison is based on sex
appeal, ability to deliver a promo, and wrestling. Ivory has none of
those qualities. Jackie can wrestle, but no promo or appeal (she's got
too much of a manly look to her, like the Old Chyna). Thanks Chyna for
kicking Ivory's ass. And I'm not just saying that I hate Ivory because
Vince wants me to, I'm saying I've always hated her, even when she was
"face" Ivory. It's the same deal with XPac. We're supposed to hate
him, but even when he was "cool" DX, he just pissed me off. Same old
spill, different day.

APA & Tazz over RTC. RTC sucks, the only half talents are Richards and
Venis. Venis is getting to be Luger-ish in his moves, etc. Richards
needs an elevation as a heel. Tazz needs an elevation PERIOD. GO BACK
TO HUMAN SUPLEX MACHINE!!! Anyone else remember the pops Tazz used to
get in ECW? I do. He's got the Benoit quality (small, but a helluva
fighter). There's a match I want to see. Only problem, they're both
getting to be faces. A tag team! Then one can turn on the other! I
smell a storyline. Back to RTC, weren't they going to make Goodfather
turn and go back to pimpin' hos? What happened with that? I thought it
was all going to come to a head tonight. They could've had him turn at
the beginning, then signed a match for him against either Val or
Buchanan or Richards for later on, and have him come back with the old
gear and hos in tow. Would've been a good angle. Oh well.

Those are my rants on WM X7. Just an opinion.

TDo

wm x-7 came to prove to be all that an then some more,,,,,,,
proved to be worth every penny of $39.95 and then about 40 .00 dollars
more.....

drawback was no wcw run-ins,,,like flair or booker T,,,,,,,,,

I thought it was very well done. I liked the Vince/Shane match, but I am
everyone who watched it tonight were getting tired of the McMahan family
ego. TLC wasn't as good as the last one, but it was still insane. Austin
and the Rock put on a great show. We kind of guessed Austin would turn and
when Vince came down it was a lock. Rocky really looked shook up at the
beginning of the match. When he fell through the announce table (on
accident?) a bunch of people thought he might have been a little out of it
from a bump he took a little earlier. Every match was solid, but the battle
royal was WCW quality (everyone showed a LOT of ringrust). Chyna's match
was a joke.

Only 3 o.k. matches UNDERTAKER VS 3H, THE TAG TEAM 3 WAY, STONE OLD VS
ROCK, EVERYTHING ELSE SUCKED AND WAS BORING! HOW LONG ARE THEY GONNA
KEEP PUSHING THAT SORRY SLOW OLD FART STONE OLD SOMEBODY PLEASE GET
BOOKER T AND GOLDBERG TO SHOW THESE WWF IDIOTS HOW IT'S DONE!

Comments:
I thought wrestlemania was a really good PPV especially the Tables, ladders and chairs 2. But I am very suprised at the way that the rock-austin match finished.

Thought they should have done more with the
WCW guys. just showing them for about 10 seconds
in the cheap seats-pretty weak.

Was great to see Iron Sheik win the Gimmick Battle
Royal. Going into it he really was the last person I
would've picked to win it-but we were surprised. I guess
he did deserve to win it as he is a legend-one of the
greatest heels ever. It's a shame he can barely move in
the ring at this point.

Best match of the night-probably Benoit-Angle. 3-way
Hardcore match was also surprisingly entertaining. Seems
like every time they use that break-away glass (which
isn't supposed to cut you) someone ends up getting cut
(OUCH). 20

Austin-Rock was decent-but trying to turn Austin heel?
I'm definitely for this, but the damn fans seem to cheer him
no matter what. We'll see if they will eventually boo him.

Shane vs. Vince-Shane can really wrestle his butt off
for someone who isn't a full-time wrestler. And when Linda
came out of the "haze" she was in-that probably got the
biggest pop of the night.

Geez I almost forgot to mention TLC 2-awesome match.
I think Christian actually got knocked out very early in the
match-Rhyno had to actually push him up the ladder
to get the belts. I could watch Edge give that spear off
the ladder a hundred times in a row and be in awe every
single time. 20

Good to see Heenan and Okerlund back-both are talented
announcers, and can bring the comedy that was lost when
Lawler quit.

On a scale of 1-10, I give this ppv a 9.5

Thanks!

Word up TWNP,
I live in Houston, TX and I attended Wrestlemania. The matches were
all awesome. The TLC match was kind of short. I was up pretty high in
the bleachers so I had to bring binoculors with me. I was expecting
some blading to go on... so I watched when Rock was knocked down with a
chair believe. The TV/ppv cameras always take the view away from the
person who got hit... but I was there so I aimed my binoculars at Rock
to see if he was gonna blade... and I SAW IT!! ing Earl/Dave Hebner
kneeled over him and I saw the ing ref slice Rocks head real quick
and then put something (the blade) back in his pocket. I got a kick out
of it.
The fans were cheering for both Rock and Austin. Both had about
50% of the fans' support. I was the only one in my group of 6 who was
really yelling. It's fun.20
Nothing happened after WM in the ring. Austin and McMahon left.
Rock slowly got up and then left. No one talked on the microphone or
anything. 20
During the TLC match, people around me tried to get "HOLY SHIT"
chants going... but they didn't catch on. During Angle's music, we
would yell "you suck" according to the beat. So... internet fans...
keep it up when y'all attend events.
I was very disappointed that HBK and WCW wrestlers did not show up.
The gimmick battle royal was cool. I never saw the Iron Sheik wrestle,
so it was cool to see him and Slaughter get into it. That whole match
was QUICK.

I was a little disapointed in the latest Wrestlemania. The only high point for me was seeing HHH actually job cleanly on a PPV for a change. I was hoping that there would at least be some type of appearance or involvement---other than the far away camera shot--- of the newly acquired WCW talent. Not having any of them involved in any of the nights events seemed like a wasted oppurtunity to get national media exposure and keep the fans excited and looking forward to the re-launch of the promotion. I hope this doesn't mean that Vince really is going to put WCW on the shelf.

I thought this Wrestlemania was much better than last
year's, which was hardly better than a typical episode of
Smackdown. The superstars all seemed determined to take
pay-per-view calliber bumps. Kane probably impressed me for
the first time in his career with the move that won him the
Hardcore Title. Good for Kane. The TLC match had great
action, even though it was amazing the way the belt seemed
to be superglued in place. (And once again, Edge and
Christian, the least deserving team, won the match, although
at least they took some decent bumps this time around.) And
Shane McMahon... what an athlete!

Angle vs. Benoit started off as a fantastic technical match,
and when the crowd got bored with that, they kicked up the
drama a notch. A great job by both men. The HHH vs.
Undertaker match was outstanding, although I'd liked it if
Triple-H lost. I have to hand it to the Undertaker - he's a
lot stronger than he looks. He also looks deformed. This
match went over great for a bout with no title on the line.

Some of these matches were a hard act to follow, but the
Stone Cold/Rock match did all right as a follow-up. Lots of
drama... and Stone Cold even employed some wrestling moves!
While it was certainly disappointing to see Austin sell out
to Vinnie Mac, it was probably the ONLY way they could turn
Austin heel. People will cheer for him regardless of what
he does - many were cheering even after he won the belt in a
most foul manner. I may start cheering for him myself,
since it's as a heel that he's in his most natural element.

BIG EXCEPTION TO OVERALL EXCELLENCE: Since everyone
expected that the Gimick Battle Royal would suck, it wasn't
too great a disappointment when it really did. However, I
was surprised McMahon broke the cardinal rule of the "who
cares" match by dragging it out afterwards, with Sgt.
Slaughter putting the Iron Sheik (and everyone else) to
sleep in the all-but-forgotten Cobra Clutch. McMahon must
owe Slaughter big-time for some past favor.

WOW! Wrestlemania X-seven was absolutely awsome. From top to bottom, I
absolutely wasn't disappointed except that I didn't really want to see Stone
Cold turn heel. Here are some random thoughts/rants, with my biggest rant
first:

~If the Rock was going to blade, couldn't someone teach him how to do it a
little faster and without the whole world seeing it? I mean come on, first
you see it in the ref's hand, the he gives it to the Rock, the Rocky Jr
drops it, reaches down like he's tying his shoe to pick it up, switches
hands with it, uses it, and then spends another five seconds to place it in
the towel! Then, good old Hebner has to look around like he's lost a
contact! That spot was horrible, especially considering he didn't even cut
himself well. If you're going to do it, do it right!
~Could Saturn have lent a hand to Eddie and the ref a little earlier?...Did
anyone else notice how tight those ropes were last night?...Man!, can the
Undertaker fly off them ropes!
~Did this PPV have the most predictable outcomes ever?...I have never gone
100% before!
~Shane-O-Mac was awsome!...I guess the WWF ring is too big to get the full
van-terminator move in. Oh well, it was still great! And the WWF
production team nailed every shot for that one...Great job!
~When Shane was on the floor after the Spanish table bump, did you wonder if
he would turn his face towards/into that spinning fan from one of the broken
pieces of equipment?
~Was TLC2 not the greatest match of the year again? Is Paul H booking every
match now?...Wrestlemania X-seven reeked of ECW, and it was great!
~Is Lita from this planet? She's a goddess!
~Wasn't it great to see Bobby "The Brain"/"Weasel" Heenan back on tv?
~Is anyone else getting sick of hearing that Limp Bizkit song?
~Was the kid who won the contest the worst pick?
~Don't you love how the WWF always asks their fans how great the WWF is?
~How nervous was everyone backstage last night...I never saw so many slips,
near falls, and missed spots as I did in the first three matches!
~Why wasn't the battle-royal on around match four?
~It was sad to see them bring back the Sheik, only for him to have that
broken shoe...And arthritis.

Thank you WWF, for a thoroughly enjoyable evening. But next year, if you're
going to charge me forty, can you charge me fifty and send me an official
program from the event? Please???

~Nick

I was one of the lucky ones to be at Wrestlemania 1 in MSG where they
actually limited each person to 1 t-shirt a piece. I have been to a few
others over the years and was totally blown away by last night's event. The
Shane-Vince match was a classic, although I was hoping that the Nature Boy
WHOOOOA would show up. Is Raven still in one piece? Buh Buh looks like he
broke in half when he went flying through the tables.
Overall, this was the BEST, Pay Per View that I have seen in a long while.
Long live Vince and the WWF......

Doc in NJ.....

overall I thought the show was excellent especially w/
the performance by motorhead.I predicted that austin
would go corporate the night after No Way Out and I
think that this is the best thing for both Rock &
Austin.I felt Triple H Was screwed over and should
have beaten Taker, I mean come on H3 is doing the 10
punch and out of Nowhere Taker lands the last
Ride.I'm no fan of H3 but that wasn't right!!!!!. TLC2
was exactly like the first except it was little more
"Extreme". The best match of the whole night Is Shane
Vs. Vince.... Seeing shane kick vinces @$$ it was
great, also seing Shane Pull off the Impossible, The
VAN-TERMINATOR, a move that ONLY RVD can do was mind
blowing.
Over all I give the show a rating of

The TLC match is easily on of the top 10 matches of all time. It was worth the $40 we payed by itself. Main event was OK, Rocky should have turned heel though. Benoit vs Angle was great.

I thought Wrestlemania 17 was good. It could have been better though. The Y2J match could've been longer. Benoit and Angle had a bad ending with that pin similar to the 2 out of 3 falls match at Summerslam between Benoit and Jericho. I was really disappointed that Pete Rose did not do his run-in. How could they break tradition. I think everyone was disappointed on that one. TLC II was awesome, I thought more spots would be in it though. Edge and Christian prove again they are the best tag team. Gimmick match was great fun, I loved that idea, more guys could have been I added though. Undertaker and Triple H had a spectacular match with a good clean finish. I was really impressed. Rock and Austin had a great match. I just hope this heel angle is a good one cause Austin seemed uncharacteristicly desperate.

Outstanding PPV, but most obvious blading job I've ever seen two people do in
a mian event. Great to see Heenan back, hopefully they will put him in and get
rid of Heyman.

This is going to be a very interesting angle....... should develop
closely alongside with the goldberg russo coalition that we saw about a
year ago......... SHane to start a new corporation with FOLEY?!?!?!

it was awesome,, austin heel turn, mean gene and bobby heenan back, wcw
wrestlers were there, alot of oldies in the rumble, etc

Stone Cold is a trailer park trash and a loser me and my whole scholl knows that The Rock is the real champion , it took that old gay dude Vince to help Austin's ugly self to win. Austin is no champ

First of all, Austin/Rock, Taker/Triple H, Benoit/Angle and TLC II were all
great matches in my humble opinion, with Austin/Rock actually managing to
live uip to all the hype. The finishes of Benoit/Angle and TLC II both
seemed a little strange, but didn't really take away from the matches
themselves. As far as the undercard matches, I thought Acolytes & Tazz/RTC
and the hardcore match were both surprisingly good. I was honestly a little
disappointed with the Jericho/Regal match, and Chyna/Ivory was a waste of
time.

Hell yeah. It was the best Wrestlemania ever. Nothing could top the "heel turn" of Stone Cold Steve Austin and the TLC: II match, which was the best ever.

Other than a few matches that should have been left off the card (Chyna v.
Ivory, comes immediately to mind), this was as soild a PPV I've seen from
the WWF in a long time. My favorite match of the night had to be Angle v.
Benoit, which surprised and delighted me with some real honest to goodness
wrestling in the beginning of the match. It's a damn shame that the crowd
gave such a sour reaction to it. Close runner-up had to be the Hardcore
Championship bout; I usually don't get into the hardcore stuff, but raven,
Kane, and Show tore the house down.

Although this was great entertainment, and you got to admit some of it has to hurt, it is still pretty gay.[if u ask me]

Well, what a night! Wrestlemania was fantastic evn though there was a
few places for improvement it was stiil a great show. I found the
opener with Regal and Jerhico to be a bit sloppy. The TLC2 match should
have been the main event! The missed spots like Matt hardy walking the
ladder tops and near missed spear when Bubba removed the ladder with
Jeff's feet still stuck in the rungs. If his hands slipped off the ring
that held the belt... biy not good. But even more strange was the
finale of the Austin/Rock match. An apparent heel turn with Mcmahon
coming to the aid of Austin who worked well with Mcmahon. I was
disapointed not to see any involement from the WCW stars. Perhaps a a
little too early for any involement. But over all, what a great Show!

This was one of the best Wrestlemania's I've seen. The TLC2 match was incredible!!!!! Once again, The Rock gets screwed! I knew Austin and McMahmon would hook up to screw him. I just hope The Rock whoops that candy ass sooner or later to get his belt back! That damn Gimmack match was classic. The funny thing about it was The Iron Sheik didn't do a damn thing and won. Overall, great show.

I thought wrestlemania was good not great.I mean it was very enjoyable
but a few matched left me slightly disappointed. The Benoit/Angle match
ending was the worst, as soon as it ended i said see you guys next
ppv.The t.l.c.2 could have used a better ending too, but it would be
wrong to say I was disappointed with the bumps they all took. The gimmick
battle royal was harmless fun and heenan managed to still crack me up,
but watching the iron sheik was sad,he looked crippled. The
HHH/Undertaker match was another victim of a less than satisfying
finish,I would of liked to see HHH take a bit more punishment before he
did the job, just to give him a bit more credibility. The only matches I
thought delivered in terms of storytelling and ring work were the
Mcmahons and Rock/Austin.Shane has really impressed me once again with
his ability in terms of taking bumps and brawling, and the RVD like
finisher was great.Austin/Rock was great and a fun brawl and the ending
had me cheering, heel my ass! I mean if they really wanted Austin to
walk out the heel they should of had the rock clearly in control before
vince joined in the fun, but I think he was not.But I suspect they will
clear that up on Raw.The rest of the matches ranged from average ppv
fare to just plain filler. But the show flew by and it never was
boring. So if your looking for some kind of rating I will say 3and a half
stars out of 5.If they would of just given Benoit/Angle 5-10 more
minutes the rating could have went up another star, but I guess we will
get to see them at the next ppv.In closing I want to wish vince good
luck in trying to get Austin over as a heel because I dont see it
happening, but what do I know? Later,LOAF420

Most of WrestleMania X-7 was a big dissapointment
You knew Linda was gonna get out the chair and kick Vince in the balls,
the match was quite good tho, especially Shane's dropkick

The last match definitely saved the whole show, it was one of the few
matches that looked to have any feeling to it
The Rock got royally screwed which is nice :)

Wrestlemania was cool. "The Rock" should have remained the WWF Champ because he wasn't even champ for long. He was truly, the best WWF Champ there was!

Wrestlemania was great, esp. when Bobby Heenen was doing the comentating for the gimmick Battle Royal. The Rock gets defeated by Austin ( Great ) the only thing that would have topped it off would of been that Limp Bizkit, was opposite Motorhead for The Undertakers entrance. and in closing TABLES, LADDERS AND CHAIRS OHH MY! The Hardys should have won it this year though.

I thought that Wrestlemania 17 was one of the worst ones that I have seen.
And I have been a WWF fan since 1990. It didn't even feel like a
Wrestlemania to me. It felt like another PPV. The Vince & Shane match &
the Ivory & Chyna Match was the only ones that caught my eye. The Rock &
Austin match was good too but the Austin turning heel turned my head. I now
wish that I didn't order it. And those are my thoughts.

Wrestlemania 17 will go down as the best wrestlemania of all time. We
saw some past wrestlers that wrestle at wrestlemania. We saw Shane
defeating is father Vince in one of the best matches ever in wwf. Also
Edge and Christian won the tag team titles in one of the greatest tag
team event-TLC2- ever and last The Rock getting screwed and losing the
title to the new heel-Austin by hitting the rock ten times with the
chair and joining Vince MCMAHON. Austin sold his soul to saintan himself
which is Vince Mcmahon.

I have to say Wrestlemania last night was awsome. Heres some of my
commets on some of the matches. I'm glad they put the Jericho/Regal
match first. Jericho really sucks. Same moves over and over. Chest slap?
Thats a real impressive move.
The TLC 2 match was outstanding. All 3 teams game it there all and we
got to see Lita take her shirt off. To bad the bra didnt come off as
well lol
We saw some of the same moves and what not from last years match but it
still kept almost everyone on their feet.
I was sooooooooo frickin happy and was going nuts when Kane won the
Hardcore title. FINALLY Glen gets a singles title and will hopefully
keep it more then one night. Its not the WWF title which I feel he
deserves more then anyone on the roaster but better then the Euro belt.
This guy has come a long way. He impresses me everytime and am just so
glad he was able to be handed the title.
Big Show could have made the fall look more like he feel for real then
just stepping off the stage.
The gimmick battle royal was great. Seeing mean Gene and Bobby H.
together in the WWF again was great. I would love to see Gene back. He
is 10000 times better then Michael Coleslaw.
Seeing a lot of my favs back in the day in the ring again was a great
feeling.
Doink who I think rules should have won it. I think he got the biggest
pop.
I dont think most people knew who the Goon or the old guys were. Only
the fans who have been fans for a long time did since there relly werent
to many loud pops that I noticed.
Seeing John Tenta as Earthquke again since being Golga was great as was
seeing Typhoon as Tug Boat.
I think they should have skipped the Repo Man and had him come back as
Smash of Demolition since they were my fav tag team and still are of all
time.
I love Kamalas gimmck. I wish he was one of the last 2 in the ring. We
could have seen him pin the other gu on his back again.
I would have liked to have seen Superfly Jimmy Snuka in there.
Now on to the main event. Rock was just way over with me in this. He
would not lay down for Austin which I felt was really cool.
Austins heel turn really didnt get over. Here I'm sitting watching it
and saying to myself why are ppl cheering? No matter what they just cant
turn him heel can they? Even siding with McMahon. maybe it was just
because he was in his home state. I guess we'll have to see what
happends on Raw
The Shane and Vince match I feel was the best match of the night. All
because of the 2 huge bumps Shane took. The table and the last move
where he jumped from one side of the ring kicking the tashcan right into
Vinces head. That kicked so much ass.
Seeing Foley make a some what of a wrestling return by kicking Vinces
ass was a great sight.
Overall I think the WWF did a great job last night. esp. the superstars
themselves who gave it there all. I give them all my up most respect for
what they do.
Well I think I'm gonna leave it at that.

Hi,

For all the McMahon bashers out there, you have to admit, that even now
he has no competition, he still works damn hard to bring his fans the
very best entertainment at the highest level.

Whilst watchint Wrestlemania It struck me how great Vince McMahon and
his WWF really is, and how this promotion is the reason wrestling is
still as popular as it is. They've really always moved with the times,
and given wrestling movement and direction. WCW may be dead, but
wrestling is still very much alive in my books.

This has dawned upon me over the last few days, when you compare Raw's
broadcast this past week to Nitro's last show - as great as Flair vs
Sting is to watch, how many times have we seen this match?, WWF is
always moving forward, taking risks, going through rennovations when
the time is right. If WCW would have bought WWF a few years back,
wrestling would be stuck in the mud a long time ago.

Apart from the Test vs Guererro, and Accolytes vs RTC, and Jim Ross
seeming to be in a slightly bad mood during the show, this Wrestlemania
has to be one of - if not THE best Wrestlemania I've seen!, if they're
going to continue to do stuff like this, the future looks good for
wrestling.
