For this edition of the TWNP rantbag, TWNP asked its visitors what they thought about the WWF/WCW/ECW InVasion. On with the rants
Here is the latest rantbag, this week TWNP asked its visitors about what they thought about WCW/ECW teaming up on the WWF for the "InVasion". Below are most of the responses, some responses had spell check done on them. From CMAJOR97 I kept wondering how WCW would get over without any major players, but the twist just added to the angle with the boys from ECW made this one of the best kept angles. Paul deserves this. I would love to see a veteran bought in to help. Like a master mind like Flair, or The Funker, maybe even Dust Rhodes just to add a taste of history. From Robert While I was stoked and pacing around wondering who to call about this, I got to thinking? Is history repeating itself? Right now, Vince has all the talent. In fact, so much now with RVD and Dreamer that he just doesnt have time for everyone to wrestle a match. So, does Vince go to a 3 hour Raw? That really started the beginning of the end on WCW. Too long to keep people interested. So I doubt that Vince will do that. Get another wrestling show? I dont think Tnn will(as an aside, I wonder what the TNN executives thought about Paul E in the ring with ECW, bet they sh*t their drawers, hehe)allow another wrestling show on the network, nor will UPN and I seriously doubt CBS is gonna put on a prime time show. Perhaps it is time to look back to USA or TBS for another show on say Friday nite. All in all, I am fired up about the angle and am waiting to see what happens. In my wish list, I am thinking, half a year till HHH can return full time, Nash contract up half a year or so, Scott Hall sober hopefully for half a year, HBK work out for half a year to get into shape, X-pac drop the X and go back to Syxx and maybe in 6 months or so when things are getting a little slow again, boom out comes then new NWO to wreak havoc on them all. It could happen. From Owenss3 I'm wondering why jerry lynn and tajiri didn't run out, maybe at smackdown.
also maybe they can bring in danny doring and roadkill, joey styles, and c.w.
anderson. From Craig Hi my name is Craig, i'm 18 and i have watching wrestling for 8 years now and i must say that the ECW invasion was the biggest thing to happen since the nWo black and white joined with the nWo wolfpack. I'm really glad that ECW is back but three things ruined it. 1. They teamed with WCW, personally i would have liked to have seen them beat the hell out of the WCW guys. 2. Why in hell would you give control of ECW to Stephanie McMahon, that was the real killer right there. 3. where in the hell is Steve Corino in all of this? He should have definately been there, i would have rather have had them be in the mix instead of Tommy Dreamer. But other than that i think RAW was really great and i hope that this angle continues and doesn't die off right after inVasion. From Dante Finally...a RAW worth watching! I must admit I was about to give up on this week's raw about half way through but I decided to stick it out. Boy am I glad I did! I haven't been this excited about a RAW program in months. Seeing the ECW guys reunited with Heyman gave me goosebumps. The ECW chants and ECW theme music brought back great memories of the old ECW days. I admit I think the WWF made a mistake putting Steph in the angle but I will take a wait and see attitude on that one. ECW is Heyman's baby and he should be the leader. The WCW/ECW merger was/is a bad decision. ECW is an outlaw type promotion and shouldn't be shackled with WCW. However I think that after the dust settles in a couple of months WCW will have their own show, WWF will have their own show and ECW will be left to wreak havoc whenever and wherever they please. I can't believe I'm saying this...but I can't wait for Smackdown!!! back to the EXTREME!!! dante From Dr. Swank I thought it was the most beautiful thing in my entire life!! From Adam Sephanie McMahon!? I doubt she's ever even set foot in a bingo hall From Brian Now most people on the Internet seem to be hyped about ECW coming back. I have to agree it was great seeing RVD back there as well as Dreamer. I've read all the comments and everyone seems to think this angle will be huge. However, I can't help but to think that the average wrestling fan isn't as rabid about ECW as most people on the net are. Does the average wrestling fan know of / care about ECW??? This may not turn out to as successful of an angle as everyone thinks. We may all love ECW but ultimately the average wrestling fan will decide whether or not ECW is a big deal or not. - Brian From Raul Raul from Boston What a great angle! All could be summarized there. I think they were care ful enough not to make it too similar to the nWo angle. Very nice to see that it was something thought out and played through the night: Justin Cr edible didn't come out with with XPac/Albert in Albert's match with Rhyno , The Dudleyz loosing the titles, Taz and his feud with Austin. Definitel y the writers put some thought on the invasion angle. I only wonder if th ey'll take it as far as the nWO went, that is putting the WWF belts aroun d the invaders and having the WWF wrestlers scramble and getting beat up all the time. Could the Rock be what Sting was for WCW? Man, this has def initively revamped my interest in the WWF, as their quality was declining fast after the WCW buyout.
From tml I love the idea of ECW being back together. The merger, I think should have been done at the PPV, though. Imagine, WCW vs WWF vs ECW matches, then ECW and WCW combine and destroy WWF wrestlers..... Anyway, it adds some excitement to the mid-card. Now, ECW just needs a main eventer or two. Before people go nuts on me about ECW having main eventers, the average WWF fan won't believe RVD or Tommy Dreamer as a main eventer yet. Perhaps Jericho, who was laughed out of McMahon's office Monday night, and got no back-up from the locker room during the ECW revival. After all, Heyman was hyping his past with Lance Storm..........From Tim dude ECW IS BACK! this is so awesome, i just hope WWFE doesn't do anything to screw it up. while i don't necessarily like the idea of ecw and wCw combining, i think it was their only choice. i believe both mcmahon and heyman were too afraid to try and let ecw survive on its own because of what happened before, which i might add was one of the saddest days of my life. i would really like to see tajiri join wecw (as people are calling it) as soon as possible. just a few of my many questions are things like will the wwf ever let ecw be as hardcore as they once were? i sure as hell hope so. what is dreamer's condition healthwise? i am also interested in who will take heyman's place as commentator, as well as who (if any one) will be appointed as an ecw announcer (please let it be styles!!!). now this is a really exciting time in wrestling history, but let's be realistic for a moment: the wecw will probably never be as big as wwf because even though mcmahon actually owns them, i still don't think he wants them to get bigger than the wwf. so much to my disappointment, i find myself seeing this inevitably for what it is, a temporary angle, maybe a year or so at the most, that will eventually blow over. i may be wrong, but that's just what i think. thanks for letting my voice be heard. peace - tim From Mitch WWF I GIVE YOU A BIG HIGH FIVE!!!!!!! Great Angle. All thats left bring Sting back with the Crow Gimmick. And bring in Goldberg with the unbeatable streak, have him finally go against Austin or Triple H at a main PPV and have Goldberg LOSE to one of them. That would really make things interesting. I mean if Vinnie really wants it he could get it he's got 700 million dollars. Buy Outs aren't really going to hurt him. They will make the ratings go up. Last Thing TWNP thanks for having a great wrestling news page, keep up the great work!! From Xavier The one thing any real fan of wrestling did not want to see, is ECW in the WWF. Anyone who has been with ECW over the years knows its going to be a watered down version of something that used to make you open your eyes and say Ho!y $hit!!!!!!. There original TV show was better than some of the WWF pay per view events. Everyone knows most of the original ECW members who are in the WWF right now are pretty much, Jobbers! Justin Credible was a great personality in ecw, now he's X-Pacs sidekick, (thats bad!). Taz , once one of the most feared wrestlers in ECW, is pretty much a joke. I will be wondering how long this will go on before they toss it aside and release half the wrestlers who gave the fans there heart and soul every night, jerry lynn for example, he was one of the most exciting wrestlers to watch in ECW, now he fights crash holly every other Sunday. Fans are being cheated by this angle big time, they will not get to see New Jack jump off a 40' roof threw 3 tables and get up and walk away, they will not get to see the real dudley boys beat the living crap out of everyone, and make you hate there guts for it. As excited as i was to see them back together last night, i would rather have the memorys of a bunch of killing themselves, not for the money or fame, but for the fans. |
