Report by Brian TuckerWWE Smackdown! Opener:
Smackdown! started with footage revolving around the storyline involving the Undertaker and Paul Heyman. In recent weeks, Paul Heyman has taken control of the Undertaker, unleashing a vile Undertaker on the WWE Superstars. Last Monday night on RAW, the Undertaker unleashed his fury on Rob Van Dam and John Cena under the control of Paul Heyman and this Sunday night, the Undertaker will face the Dudley Boyz in a Live or Die Match and either the Undertaker will do what is right, or Paul Bearer will be destroyed on pay per view.
Location: Orlando, Florida
John Cena was shown backstage with Charlie Haas and Miss Jackie and John told them that he has this under control and Charlie and Jackie tried to tell him otherwise. Charlie told John that as his friend, this is suicide. Cena responded by saying that this is something that he has to do for himself and he headed towards the arena.
John Cena's music hit in the arena and he made his way out to the ring as the United States Champion and this Sunday night on pay per view, Cena defends the United States Title in a Fatal Four Way Match against Booker T, Rob Van Dam and Rene Dupree. John Cena grabbed the mic and said to kill the music. The crowd chanted for Cena as he stood in the ring and Cena told the fans that's some love right there and he appreciates it. He appreciates it because all day, he's been hearing that it's suicide. Don't go out there; you're going to get killed. You don't know what you're doing or who you are messing with. Normally, you say the name Undertaker in the wrong tone of voice and your ass is going to pay for it. But facts are facts; you all saw it, last week he got tombstoned right in the middle of this ring. John Cena respects the Undertaker legacy as much as everybody in this building. But he is a man and he does not back down from no man. So John doesn't care if you are the Undertaker, the Phenom, a decade of destruction, the Deadman... right now, John Cena needs an explanation. He needs to know what the hell the Undertaker was doing.
The music of Kurt Angle hit in the arena and he was wheeled out into the arena by Luther Reigns. Kurt Angle had a huge smile on his face as the fans sang "you suck, you suck!" to Angle's theme. Angle asked Cena how he is doing? Cena said he's having a bad day, what do you want? Kurt said that he can't help but notice how sad John Cena feels and he has to say; he has never felt this happy before. Kurt has so much to be sad and upset about but now he actually has something that he can be very happy about. Last week, John Cena suggested to him that deep down inside that Kurt Angle wanted to be just like him. And you know something? He is right. Which is why all weekend long, Kurt Angle came up with a rap just for John Cena and it is a good one. John threatened to smack Kurt Angle and Kurt told John that he is not going to ruin his day. The way he sees it, he won an Olympic Gold Medal with a broken neck and he thinks he can handle a little hip hop.
My name is Kurt Angle, I tried to be nice
I'm an Olympic Gold Medalist, not some weak vanilla ice
Which is why I'm happy I no longer have the blues
Because come this Sunday, John Cena, you're gonna lose
I think it's quite sad, maybe even tragic
You'll be an even bigger loser than the Orlando Magic
Kurt Angle continued on with his rap, telling John Cena that tonight he is going to rest in peace. Translation? John Cena has a lot more to worry about than his fatal four way match this Sunday because tonight, he will go one on one with the Undertaker! (HUGE POP) Kurt Angle then waved bye bye to Cena saying "Word Life."
10 Cruiserweights involved in a Battle Royal to determine the number one contender for the Cruiserweight Championship! (Chavo Guerrero, Sho Funaki, Jamie Noble, Akio, Billy Kidman, Shannon Moore, Paul London, Spike Dudley, Nunzio and Scotty 2 Hotty.)
A number of Cruiserweight Wrestlers made their way out to the ring and this is a 10 man over the top rope battle royal and the winner of this match up will face Rey Mysterio for the Cruiserweight Title.
Kurt Angle was shown in his office with Luther Reigns and John Bradshaw Layfield showed up and Kurt Angle referred to him as the next WWE Champion. JBL told Kurt Angle that he is doing a fantastic job as the General Manager. They are proud of what he is doing, especially in his condition. Kurt Angle is an example for wheelchair bound people all over the world. Kurt asked JBL what he needs and JBL said he saw the way Kurt handled that disrespectful John Cena and there is a guy on the roster that is actually worse than John Cena. That is Eddie Guerrero. JBL doesn't need to remind Kurt Angle how disrespectful Eddie was to cheat to win and beat Kurt Angle at Wrestlemania. In JBL's opinion, making Eddie Guerrero wrestle a match tonight, just three days before the Texas Bull Rope Match is a great way to teach Eddie Guerrero respect. Kurt said that's an excellent idea and he'd love to do it himself but he cannot do it in his condition. JBL added that he'd like to do it too but he came up with an idea; after his impressive debut last week on Smackdown!, Luther would be the perfect opponent for Eddie Guerrero tonight. Kurt asked Luther if he is up for it and Luther said that he is and by the end of the match, he will teach Eddie Guerrero respect. Kurt Angle then made it official; Eddie Guerrero will go one on one with Luther Reigns!
Cruiserweight Battle Royal:
After all the competitors made their way out to the ring for the Battle Royal, the music of Rey Mysterio hit in the arena and he made his way out to the ringside area to join Michael Cole and Tazz for commentary during the battle royal. (Chavo Guerrero, Sho Funaki, Jamie Noble, Akio, Billy Kidman, Shannon Moore, Paul London, Spike Dudley, Nunzio and Scotty 2 Hotty.)
At the sound of the bell, the Cruiserweights all went at it in the ring with each wrestler pairing off with another as Rey Mysterio stated that only one wrestler will be a winner and the last man standing, he will face at the Great American Bash. Tazz asked Rey who he wants to face and Rey gave credit to everyone in the ring as they all give it 100% and Rey said that he can face anybody in that ring. He likes competition.
Paul London gave Spike Dudley a drop kick into Nunzio and Nunzio gave Spike a back body drop over the top rope to the outside of the ring. Paul London then eliminated Nunzio from the ring but behind the referee's back, he slipped back into the ring and continued to go at it as if he was never tossed out.
Jamie Noble and Chavo Guerrero tossed Paul London over the top rope and Paul held onto the ropes and Nunzio, who was on the arena floor and eliminated from the match, grabbed Paul London by the legs to pull him off the ropes onto the arena floor to eliminate him from the contest.
Shannon Moore pulled Akio over the top rope to the outside of the ring with a head scissors to eliminate Akio and himself in the process.
After Scotty 2 Hotty hit the worm, Kidman gave him a drop kick to send him out of the ring.
Funaki was standing on the ring apron after saving himself from getting eliminated and then Billy Kidman whipped Chavo Guerrero into Funaki to knock him down to the floor to eliminate him from the match.
Jamie Noble and Chavo Guerrero attempted to eliminate Billy Kidman but Kidman held onto the ropes and pulled himself back into the ring. Noble and Chavo went for a double clothesline on Kidman but Kidman ducked it and knocked both men down with a double clothesline of his own. Kidman went to eliminate Noble but Chavo grabbed Kidman and attempted to dump him out of the ring. Kidman held onto the ropes to pull himself back into the ring.
Jamie Noble and Chavo Guerrero perched Kidman on the ropes and Kidman knocked Chavo down with a reverse elbow and then Jamie Noble hung Kidman up with the tree of woe. Chavo then went for a baseball slide on Kidman but Noble turned on him and nailed him with a clothesline. Noble went to toss Chavo out of the ring but Chavo held onto the ropes and pulled himself back into the ring and Noble thought Chavo was eliminated but he was not. Kidman and Noble then went at it and Noble went for the Tiger Driver but Kidman got out of it. Kidman gave Noble a slingshot into the ropes and then Chavo Guerrero ran over and knocked Noble over the top rope to eliminate him.
Kidman then tried to dump Chavo Guerrero out of the ring but Chavo hung onto the ropes to remain in the ring. Chavo Guerrero lifted Billy Kidman up with the Gory Bomb and dumped him out of the ring to win the match and earn the right to go to the Great American Bash against Rey Mysterio for the Cruiserweight Title!
Winner - Chavo Guerrero
The Aftermath:
Rey Mysterio stood up in his seat as Chavo Guerrero gloated in the ring and this Sunday night at the Great American Bash, Rey Mysterio will defend the Cruiserweight Championship against Chavo Guerrero!
A shot of a cement truck was shown in the arena and that will be at the Great American Bash this Sunday night and will be used if the Undertaker does not do the right thing.
Paul Heyman was shown walking through the backstage area, talking on the phone and he told whoever he was talking to that he does not want a safety latch on this. Paul said he wants a concrete crypt that no man can bust out of and no man can bust into. He wants something that people will either see this Sunday or they will regret missing for the rest of their lives. The Dudley Boyz showed up and Paul continued to tell the person on the phone what he wants and he wants everyone to be able to see it and he wants it delivered to The Scope in Norfolk this Sunday. Paul asked the Dudleys what he can do for them? Bubba said to cut the crap. They have a match in three days at the Great American Bash, what does Paul have planned? D-Von asked what is the right thing? Paul told them that they have nothing to worry about and Bubba was distracted by some noises in the background. The cameras panned over and Mordecai and Hardcore Holly were shown going at it in the backstage area. Mordecai and Hardcore Holly battled out in the arena and WWE officials came out in an attempt to break up the fight but they had a hard time in doing so as Holly and Mordecai were at each other's throats. Luther Reigns showed up to help to break it up and Kurt Angle said that he does not want to see this happen again. Mordecai told Holly that he is going to crucify him and Kurt told Paul Heyman to get over there. Kurt asked Paul if we are clear for tonight? The Undertaker vs. John Cena? Paul told Kurt that he has nothing to worry about. Tonight, he will witness the Undertaker with a demonstration of loyalty to Paul Heyman by taking out John Cena. After Paul Heyman left, Kurt Angle sat there laughing, saying that he is going to love this.
Kenzo Suzuki vs. Billy Gunn
The music of Kenzo Suzuki hit in the arena and he was walked out to the ring on a platform, accompanied by a Geisha girl and this is a one on one contest with Kenzo Suzuki facing Billy Gunn.
Kenzo and Gunn tied it up in the center of the ring and Gunn powered Kenzo into the corner and then quickly backed off, not knowing what to expect from Kenzo Suzuki. Kenzo Suzuki gave Billy Gunn the claw / leg sweep combination to leave him laying in the ring. The replay showed Hiroko throwing salt right into the eyes of Billy Gunn.
Sable was shown walking through the backstage area and she approached Torrie Wilson, who was getting her outfit ready for the Great American Bash. Sable told Torrie that her outfit is great and then Sable asked Torrie why she was promoting the Great American Bash? All of the Divas are hosting it, not just Torrie. Torrie said she was doing what she was told and Sable yelled at her, telling her that if she wants to hog the spotlight, then do it but this Sunday, she hopes that Torrie does not trip and fall. And by the way, about her outfit, she lied; it makes her look fat! Sable then continued on her way and Torrie responded by saying at least her outfit doesn't make her look easy! Sable then jumped on Torrie Wilson in the backstage area and started beating on her until a number of WWE officials showed up to break it up.
