Winters’ Storm–Wrestlemania Is History, or not…

Six weeks is a long time to be away, and I am sure you didn’t even know I was gone. Be that as it may, I am here to comment on Wrestlemania. Was it worth our time to see it, did the Undertaker keep his record intact? Are the champs that went in at the beginning, still champs? Well, along with the results, I am of course putting in my 3 cents worth with each match…enjoy or not…tis up to you…

WWE Tag Team Championship Triple Threat…Primo and Epico vs. The Usos vs. Justin Gabriel and Tyson Kidd…(Live Stream on wwe.com-can’t be too important to WWE if they are doing this…there was a time when tag teams meant something, not anymore…) Didn’t see the match, but I understand Primo and Epico retained, whatever….if the WWE doesn’t care to put in on the PPV, then I don’t care either.

Daniel Bryan vs. Sheamus for the World Heavyweight Championship…I get it that the title would be lost by Bryan, but 18 seconds into the match? Stupidly Crazy…should have been longer. And this match was the first to start off the PPV, would it be a sign of things to come?? God I hope not…

Randy Orton vs. Kane…Hate to say it, but I didn’t really give two sh*ts about this match. The match so, so and not really anything special about it either.  Slight surprise that Kane pulled off a win from a second rope choke slam to Orton. Orton looked hurt after the pin, or maybe the wind was just knocked out of him, who knows..either way, Kane beat Orton…meh…

Cody Rhodes vs. The Big Show for the Intercontinental Championship…I like Cody Rhodes, never thought I would say that about him. But ever since he won the IC Championship (233 days according to Cole) he has been on a roll and has shown probably everyone how good of a wrestler and entertainer he truly is. Big Show is just Big Show sure he’s big, but what else does he have going for himself? As “Cody” showed in videos of past WM’s, Show’s record ain’t too great in the PPV.  Crowd wasn’t really into this match though, they were pretty quiet throughout the whole thing. But with all the criticism, Big Show used the WMD and knocked out Rhodes for the win and crowned the new IC Champion…

Kelly Kelly and Maria Menounos vs. Beth Phoenix and Eve Torres…I didn’t care about this match at all, is that bad? No I wouldn’t say it is, because the match was what I expected, complete and total crap. Imagine that. I am still waiting for Kharma to return to the squared circle so I can care about this division, but until that happens, you know it-I don’t care. Maria pinned Phoenix to finish the match. Whatever…

Good Ole JR comes out (with a goatee to boot) for play-by-play of the next match and that match is the Triple H vs. Undertaker in Hell in a Cell with Shawn Michaels as special referee…why does HHH still have to spit water out of his mouth to start matches? I just don’t get it. I hear the rumor is Brock Lesnar has signed on for a year, wonder if he will show up in this match as a distraction or something else… Next out is the Undertaker, of all the gimmicks, I still get chills when this man comes out to the ring. Maybe that’s because he is the Phenom of the wrestling world. And so it begins after a slow walk to the ring by Taker and a new very short haircut too for the man…Taker was under control at the start of the match throwing HHH all over the ring and into the cage. Kinda slow throughout the match too, but of course these guys are not young anymore. HHH does get his licks in though. Some of the moves they have done to one another looked extremely painful, especially all the chair shots HHH hit Taker with, and vice versa, I give kudos to these two.  The sledgehammer comes out during the match, but Taker still doesn’t give in. Hellsgate is put on HHH, but now Shawn was out because he put the hold on him as well. Another ref comes running in to take Shawn’s place. Still no pin, back and forth, great match. The second ref is taken out by a chokeslam by Taker. Sweet Chin Music and Pedigree, but still no pin on Taker. So much happened during this match, that I can’t go into it all. Lets just say it was one hell of a classic match. In the end, Taker is now 20-0 for Wrestlemania, wow….

Team Teddy-Santino Marella, R-Truth, Kofi Kingston, Zack Ryder, The Great Khali, and Booker T vs. Team Johnny-David Otunga, Mark Henry, Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger, The Miz, and Drew McIntyre…Lots of back and forth for this type of match, not a bad match, hate to say it, but Team Johnny wins the match so John Laurinaitis is now the GM for Raw and Smackdown…ugh…for how many people that were in the match, it should have lasted a lot longer than it did. Maybe it means the other two matches will be getting lots of time to show us what they have for us.

CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho for the WWE Championship…It’s a classic match with wrestling moves and high and low points. It’s looking as if WWE is giving them time to put on a hell of a show. Much as I love Punk, it seems to me as if the crowd is for Jericho to win this match than it is for Punk to retain. Chest chops and lots of elbows were a big part of this match as well. This thing kinda reminded me of those matches of the old WCW days when they lasted a good 30-45 minutes or more and kept up the interest in the match over that time. Walls of Jericho were locked on Punk as well. This damn thing reminds me of the Steamboat and Savage match at WM 3 too. Crazy back and forth going on. Believe it or not, Jericho tapped out in this match…wow, another great match. So does that mean Punk is now the Best in the World? Or will this feud keep going into the summer?

Not sure why they had Funkasaurus at Wrestlemania, but they did…he got on the phone and said he was talking to his Mama…who incidentally was there too…eek…from a high point match to this travesty…WTF??

The Rock vs. John Cena…the crowd had a mixed reaction to Cena when he came out, so what else is new? And of course the crowd goes nuts for the “Part Time Pro Wrestler” The Rock. Yes he will put on a hell of a show, but I don’t have to like that he is headlining the show, you tell me, does he deserve to headline the biggest show of the year?? Instead of me describing the match, I am just going to throw in my opinion of it and leave it at that. If you haven’t watched the thing, skip through all the meaningless crap, watch this match, HHH vs. Undertaker, and CM Punk vs. Jericho, it will save you a lot of time. In the end, it was an okay match, maybe it could have been better if Good Ole JR was doing the play by play…maybe…meh…so who won you ask?? The Rock of course, crap….

I would like to say this is one Wrestlemania for the record books, but not really. Too many of the matches were not WM caliber. And the few that were wouldn’t put it in the record books. I don’t care if Rock and Cena headlined the show, I think the HHH vs. Undertaker match should have been the main event, but I am not a promoter of wrestling. The Rock won’t be around very much come May and June, so honestly, I don’t care about him as far as wrestling is concerned. He will be out promoting his movies and making sparse appearances in the WWE at best. Whatever…much as I dislike John Cena, you have to admit, he lives and breathes this business. He is this business right now, much like Hogan was back in the mid-80’s. Love him or hate him, John Cena is the man right now. So what is ahead for him now that Wrestlemania is done? Even though the Rock was part of this Wrestlemania, it was subpar at best as far as Wrestlemania’s are concerned. What? You don’t agree? Oh well, that is your opinion…

That’s my 3 cents worth, til next time……
