The feud between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns

With the advent of 2018, we have quickly seen the reigniting of the feud between Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar. The seeds of this feud were laid all the way back in 2015 at the WrestleMania 31 where the two made it to the main event, with Lesnar set to defend his WWE World Heavyweight Championship. However, the match was interrupted by Seth Rollins who cashed in on his Money in the Bank contract, making it a triple threat match which resulted in Rollins pinning Reigns to win the title.

However, Lesnar had a really strong year in 2017 defeating Goldberg to win his fifth world title, and went on to become the first person to win both the WWE Championship and the Universal Championship. While Reigns has been biding his time to defeat Lesnar in his search for the title glory.

Reigns got his opportunity, when RAW general manager Kurt Angle announced a fatal four-way match between Reigns, Lesnar alongside Samoa Joe and Braun Strowman. Lesnar successfully defended his title by pinning Reigns at the SummerSlam match. He then defeated AJ Styles who was the reigning WWE Champion in the Survivor Series (2017) to win both WWE and Universal Championships.

Continuing with his ruthless streak, Lesnar defeated Kane and Strowman in a triple threat match at the Royal Rumble. Reigns meanwhile won the Elimination Chamber match to assert himself as the number one contender for Lesnar’s title. The two then met in a vicious match in WrestleMania 34, where Lesnar absolutely dominated Reigns. He entitled to a rematch and challenged Lesnar in steel cage match in the Greatest Royal Rumble. Reigns had a better showing there, as he looked set to win against Lesnar when he speared Lesnar through the cage resulting in a victory for Lesnar, as he escaped the cage first according to the rules.

With half the contenders left to qualify for the Money in the Bank event in June 2018, Lesnar could well go on to defend his title against Braun Strowman in the PPV, who has already qualified for the event. Or instead, he could deal with unfinished business against Reigns who claims to be the true winner of Greatest Royal Rumble.
